@@TheBondExperience Quantum lovers gotta stick together :D the thumbnail image shows Craigs Bond in his prime and why he was such a great choice for the role. I just wish we had seen more of this Bond in the subsequent movies.
I never understood the Quantum of Solace hate. It’s my second favorite after Casino Royale. The villain wasn’t as extravagant as most of the films, but I actually enjoyed a villain that was more realistic. It’s also the only time I can recall a bond film directly continuing from the previous one. It compliments Casino Royale so well. To me those two films set up the character and shows us why he is the way he is in all the previous films.
Quantum still has one of the best intros in my opinion, particularly the first 10 seconds, moving between the shots of the sea and the Aston Martin. Congrats on your purchase!
Yes...The Bond community is pure gold. I sincerely hope there are genuine plans in the works to have an actual gathering of the community for all Bond fans in London that will be an event for everyone to attend & enjoy for this October's 60th celebration.
It is truly special that you were able to get the Planet Ocean fromone of your viewers and someone who wanted his watch in good hands. Well done by both of you! The black 42mm Planet Ocean was my second watch purchase that year after I picked up the SMP 300 a few months earlier. I didn't really consider the 45.5mm version because found it too large for a three hand watch. However a 45.5mm PO found its way onto my wrist one year later, in the form of a chronograph for which this huge size is much more appropriate in my opinion. That was the moment when I thought that three Omega divers were one too many and I handed the 42mm PO to my father. He is in his 80s now and the Planet Ocean always looked really good on him. But he became increasingly uncomfortable with heavy watches and wore it less over the past few months. Just three days ago he handed it back to me (in exchange for a Seiko 5 GMT which I almost never wore) because he knows I'm a watch addict and he wanted the PO to be worn. Although my father is still alive and hopefully will be for the years to come this Planet Ocean is now my heritage piece. And it is on my wrist as I write this comment.
This is just crazy. What luck to run into a fellow fan with the watch. Then the tour of the Omega shop and cleaning operations. Hello Danielle, I see you back there.
Hi David, I found your channel years ago and became an instant fan. Your secret bond moments are a staple of our lifestyle and this watch (10/10 on your wrist) is yet another milestone for the bond community to celebrate.
Absolutely. I feel like if we would magically turn Craig's Bond into a watch, he would be a Planet Ocean. The transition from Seamaster 300 to Planet Ocean is very analogous to the transition from Brosnan to Craig. The latter is bulkier, more robust, more pragmatic, unapologetically brutal at times.
This is the type of video i look forward to seeing in my youtube feed! I love watches, (hence my watch review channel) and also love james bond. Keep up the great work :)
Loving the videos, certainly you've inspired me to hunt for my 1st Bond watch...and I've now opened Pandoras box as there are so many I want. Got my eyes on the Goldeneye seamaster as a way to begin my collection. Keep up the great work David
A very nice timepiece. As a huge Omega fan with a few Omegas in my collection, I can fully understand the satisfaction, love these type of videos, David. Apropos servicing an Omega: will never forget how Volker Müller of the Omega Boutique in Hamburg, Germany, recommended to me not to service my Seamaster. He said it was a rare model and that, in case of servicing, we would risk to loose he water resistancy. This meant he turned down about 800+ Euro from me. What a great person and very good service. Learned that he owns a Mark II, also very rare. This is why I take Omega seriously and would really recommend them anytime. Have fun with your QoS Omega, David! 👍🏻✌🏻🤠😉
This video fuels my greatest Bondian regret. Had the QOS Omega, never wore it, selling it a few years ago. Instant regret, and an itch I still need to scratch!
Congratulations David. Looks great on you! A grail watch purchase is a milestone. Don’t forget to treat your understanding wife to a nice dinner and a Vesper or two. Cheers
The only collection I have is modest watch collection and I always purchased one with the saying "this is the last one!" I've said about 11 times... So far... Nice watch David!
Great videos. Id love to see a video that explains the differences between the Planet Ocean models in Skyfall, QofS, and Casino. Maybe Lorenzo has done this already?
Great choice, David. When I saw QoS at the theatre, I immediately wanted this watch. In 2015, it ended up being my first watch which I bought myself for graduation. It will never leave my collection, and the 42mm case size is absolute perfection for the Planet Ocean.
congrats! I have the 45.5mm version. I remember back in 2008 when I got it I went back and forth between the 42 and 45. they're both great but the 42 is the proper QoS watch. congrats!
I bought this watch for myself as a 50th birthday gift last summer, and it has become the one watch to get most wrist time among all of my watches. I have other well known (and more expensive) brands, but this is now my go to watch. Congrats on a very good choice and purchase :-)
I have an obsession with x2 things. James Bond, and Italy, namely Siena where the opening fight scene was. This movie has it all for me! I really enjoyed your enthusiasm and how you talked about looking down at the watch repeatedly and realizing that you finally have something you've wanted for such a long time! I know that feeling, I feel like a crazy person but I think it's truly appreciating the product! Cheers!
I was brought up with the bond films , used to watch them with my dad, I have just one bond watch which was never used in any film, it was released to celebrate bond as a navy commander, it was also my 1st luxury watch. My favourite bond has to be Rodger Moore as these were the films we watched when I was still at school in the 70's and early 80's. Great collection.
I, too, have this watch...and I also have the Planet Ocean that Bond was wearing at the beginning of Skyfall.....but this one that he wore in QofS is my favorite.
Watches are my favorite Bond collectible. I just missed buying the Spectre watch when it came out. I finally found one..scuffed up a little...with only the steel bracelet. I was able to get Omega to make it look like new...and Lorenzo helped me track down the nato with the Omega branding...now it looks like it came out of the box and is my go to Bond accessory of the 4 watches that I own. You are correct the Bond community can be extremely helpful when you hit collecting roadblocks.
Quantum (the movie not the evil organization) inspired me to get a Planet Ocean too. However, 42mm is just too big for me, so I went with the current smaller PO, which is 39.5mm and can say that it's absolutely wonderful. A bit more shiny than your classic Planet Ocean, but the sizing is incredible for me, and I absolutely love the micro-adjustment they've added to the clasp. Adds so much comfort, which is needed as even the smaller size is a hefty watch! I'm starting to look at my 5513 Submariner collecting dust now, and thinking the formerly unthinkable... maybe sell that and keep the Planet Ocean.
I'm late but I love this video. This is such a great watch. I love Omega and the bond relationship. Plus I love the fact that you appreciate the movie which frequently gets criticism. In my opinion however I feel Mr. Craig's Bond portrayal is the best and hasn't made a bad film at all. Love Sean Connery as well, oh heck I love them all.
The QOS Seamaster was the first Omega I bought (I have since bought a Speedmaster). I bought a 2008 model pre-owned in around 2011. I totally get how you fell in love with it. Black face, stainless steel case and bracelet and... it looks like the Omicron Spymaster from the show Archer. That sold it for me :-)

You're not wrong on Quantum Of Solace, it's a good "Bond on a normal mission" story, which just hasn't happened in the last 30 years. He doesn't *have* to go rogue for once, and the fate of the world isn't at risk, at least not in the sense of instant annihilation of everyone but the Bad-guy and his homies. It's made *better* by treating it as Casino Royale part 2, but on it's own it's a good fun movie.
When you say Quantum of Solace watch do you mean the one in the movie or a special edition watch that says Quantum of Solace? Love your passion for the subject.
Great video David, maybe you could do a video on other watch brands to feature in bond. Thunderball being a really great movie for a Breitling Navitimer and a modified Breitling Top Time! Also bond has the iconic Rolex Submariner.
This is probably too old now, but what ever happened to your QoS watch you had on display years ago? I realize collectors sometimes cannibalize some of the collection to finance new acquisitions. Early videos of TBE showed it in the QoS display. Thanks for your videos. Certainly my favorite. I do miss the QoS styles. Although, assuming they reboot Bond again with the new actor, i hope they also reboot the wardrobe to celebrate classic heritage brands and not just TF.
Hopefully someone in this community can help me. My “Quantum of Solace” version is a Seamaster Professional with the skeleton hour/minute hands and 007 second hand. The numbers on the back are 00221/10007. Did they offer a couple of versions including the World Ocean model?
Very nice story! Totally know what you mean with those little escape moments. Got my Skyfall PO 2 yars ago and still look down to my wrist like I did the first day I've put it on! Enjoy your new piece!
