I think you've hit the nail on the head with the power, there is a brilliant charm with pure usable power especially when mixed with the MX-5 handling. Very much the same story with the GT86. I would love an RF personally.

I drove the GT86 earlier this year and I was actually a bit underwhelmed. I personally think it's overrated, the engine doesn't sound that nice and the inside is pretty horrid if I'm going to be honest.
In regards to the RF, I didn't get a chance to drive one, but personally I wouldn't have one. For the 1.5 litre, it adds an extra 40kg and for the 2.0 litre it adds 45kg, which I believe would be noticeable. Pity, as it is better looking. I also reckon the RF would be a bit too heavy to get the most out of the 1.5 litre, but thats purely speculation.
      Thanks for watching Matt!

That is surprising with the GT86 to be honest, I've driven my mates a few times and it always leaves me grinning. The interior maybe isn't great, but compared to my Z, it is a roller ;) It just feels like it always wants to play and have a mess about!
Yeah, if I was going RF, I would definitely go 2L, but otherwise I would be excited by the 1.5 I think, especially as a daily runner.

I think with the GT86, I drove it on a baking hot day where the tarmac was super sticky, so it was actually rather difficult for it to break traction 👎

Love the opening titles and camera work. Great review Aaron, pity the MX5 is too low for me to climb out of lol :-)

Hey Danny, thanks for watching. I don't think you can ever have too much choice when it comes to fun cars!

When you said you switched to the 2.0 you didn't mention the trim level and options? This is key as the sport suspension with Bilstein dampers *significantly* alters (and IMO significantly improves) the driving experience. I'd say that's just as noticeable as the engine difference, and definitely more significant than the weight difference. Worth clarifying for your review commentary. Cheers

Jordan Russell Hello Jordan, this is very true and it's a good point. The main reason for this was because A) I didn't want to make the video too long and B) i had very little with with the car as it was towards the end of the day. The 2.0 litre model was not a Sport Nav model therefore it did not have the sports suspension. I hope that clears things up, thanks for watching.

How tall are you? I'm worried that at 6"1 and weighing 15st - i'd be like a pea in a pod!

Hello Darren, I'm 6"2' and I felt absolutely fine in there, but I own a Mk2, so it was always likely to feel comfortable.
