I don't live in Ohio, but this is what came up when I googled "Where is it illegal to get a fish drunk", and it's a State law. Municiple (city) laws also found in Ohio:
Cleveland: It's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license.
Bay Village: It's illegal to walk a cow down Lake Road.
Cleveland: It's illegal for women to wear patent leather shoes, lest men see reflections of their underwear.
Columbus: It's illegal for stores to sell Corn Flakes on Sunday.
North Canton: It's illegal to roller skate without notifying the police.
Toledo: It's illegal to throw a snake at anybody.
Ohio state: It's illegal to kill a housefly within 160 feet of a church without a license.
Paulding: A policeman may bite a dog to quiet him.

Here's a good one: In my home state of Georgia, it is illegal to tie a giraffe to a telephone pole or street lamp.

In Michigan it is considered rape to have sex with a non-family member under the age of 16. When I was in high school, two 15 year olds were caught having sex and procicuted for raping each other.
I also had to mention the "non-family member" thing because in Michigan you can have sex with any family member over the age of 13. I think that there are other newer laws that conflict this, but it is still on the books.
That law is perfectly sensible. If you possess too many potatoes, you spontaneously turn Irish.
Here in Indiana it's illegal to hunt ducks with a machine gun. You'd think this law would be unnecessary, as you can't even buy a machine gun here, but then I noticed there's a bar and a lake at Fort Harrison...

Lol, in Texas it is LEGAL to hunt pigs with a machine gun, and from a helicopter. There are some great videos on YT of it.

In Texes, no obnoxious odors are allowed to be emitted in an elevator. I will say no more.

This law was amended so it would prevent an emitter from emitting and leaving the elevator. If the emitter stays on the elevator, after emitting, it 's not illegal. Unless you are dumb enough to admit you did it. That's called a Rei Gestae statement.
My bad lol. Seems I broke the law when I was in Texas 😂.
Wait what about when your walking out of the elevator and just as you step off of it you brake wind? Would that still be considered breaking the law?
We have something similar in Pennsylvania but with churches.
" It is Illegal to engage in flatulence or other crude and unnecessary bodily sounds or noise in houses of worship that can result in a disruption of services".
Even out doing another congregant with a louder "Amen" falls under this.

Those are great! In the interest of sharing stupid laws, here (I’m in Tennessee USA) state law prohibits us from “Shooting any game other than whales from a moving automobile.” Which I find partially stupid as Tennessee is about 5-6 hour drive from the nearest ocean. :)

I live in U.S. and I'm from Indiana. here's one of our dumb laws: If any person has a puppet show, wire dancing or tumbling act in the state of Indiana and receives money for it, they will be fined $3 under the Act to Prevent Certain Immoral Practices.

a couple weird ones in Washington state
1) the harassing of Bigfoot or Sasquatch or any other undiscovered species is a felony (Washington has the most reported sightings of Bigfoot, js 😂)
2) destroying a beer cask or bottle of another is illegal (the pacific northwest takes our beer as serious as Scots do whiskey hehe)
3) all lollipops are banned for possession (yet can still be sold in the state) smfh
4) when 2 trains meet at a crossing, neither may proceed, till the other has passed (I.. I got nothin on that one fkn hell)

Ever watch Red Dwarf? These laws remind me of some of the "space core directives" quoted in the show. My favorite: "Crew members with false teeth should not engage in oral sex in a zero-g environment". Perhaps the writers drew some inspiration from the Scottish legal system?

Thank you Mosco Moon. I’m always looking for Scottish cinema and television programs to watch. Thankfully I found Chewin the Fat, Still Game, Limmy’s Show and Dear Green Place a few years before Netflix picked up Jack and Victor here in the US. I can’t wait to see the Angel’s Share!!! Any more recommendations would be fantastic! And yes, I already own Trainspotting (1 & 2). And Neds, I’ve got that too. But I know there’s just loads of great films and TV I’ve yet to see.
By the way, if you’ve not seen the Stone of Destiny, it’s brilliant. Although I have to imagine you’ve seen it already. It’s that good.

Laws of that nature are called 'blue' laws. They were initially passed to enforce some religious sect's idea of doctrine. Tennessee had a law forbidding the purchase of razor blades on Sunday, because shaving was considered a form of work that was prohibited on the Sabbath, similar to Orthodox Jews.

We have a lot of dumb laws here in Texas as well... No spitting on the sidewalk, can't buy Limburger cheese on Sunday, can't ride a horse a night without tail lights... That last one is so stereotypically Texan, I had to add it.

Hey! I've just come back from my holiday in Edinburgh, and I've got to say your accent and Scottish in general sounds very nice to my ears :).
So why is it that I understand like 97% what you and other Scottish speakers on youtube say, but I had to ask "sorry?" after each sentence a cashier or the flight attendant said to me? And even after that I had no idea what they were talking about... :(

Fun fact!! In the old days they used to check the underwear rule regarding kilts in the army by making the soldiers walk over a mirror! My granda was in the army and this was on of his stories I never forgot!!

In the u.s.a in Pittsburgh,Pa it is illegal to sleep outdoors on a refrigerator and it is illegal to bring your mule or donkey on a trolly
in Kentucky, it is illegal for the governor to fight a duel. It is illegal to drive a car down the street without a person running 25 yards in front of it with a lantern
Massachusetts had a law that if your library book was more than 30 days late, you could be imprisoned for a year. I can just imagine that conversation in the state prison. "So, what are you in for?" "Murder." "And you?" "Armed Robbery." "You?" "Over due library books."

In the American South, in one state, it is against the law to whistle Dixie while walking backwards. The closest Scot equivalent I can think of would be to whistling Scotland The Brave while walking backwards.

First time I was at the rendezvous in St Charles Mo, they told me there's a city ordnance still on the boots that cars require someone walking in front of them with a lantern and yelling for people to look out.
I Googled the Trolly law , & there was a case prosecuted earlier this year LMAO !

ekos012 I've heard that one. Apparently, people would use the ice cream cone to get a horse to follow them so they could claim that they didn't steal the horse but it came to them of their own accord.
Laugh out loud funny! I love learning about goofy laws. I learned once, in Georgia I believe, it is illegal to tie your giraffe to a street light.

In Springfield, Oregon USA You must have a leash on your alligator in all public parks.
We have many strange or just numerous laws here in the birthplace of America's freedom Pennsylvania.
1. It is Illegal to wear white after Labor Day.
2. When driving in the rain windshield wipers and headlamps must be on.
3. In farming areas drivers must stop at all roadway intersections get out of the vehicle and fire a rocket or flare into the air and if the road is clear of livestock may proceed and repeat at the next intersection, this law is no longer enforced.
4. It is Illegal to hunt fish and engage in gambling or games of chance on a Sunday, again this is no longer enforced.
5. It is Illegal to tether any animal of husbandry (horse, mule, oxen, etc.) to any lamp post utility pole or fence of a private property owner.
6. It is Illegal to discharge any firearm while riding a horse intoxicated this does not apply to driving animal drawn wagons.
One of my favorite crazy US laws is that in the state of Mississippi, it's illegal to intoxicate a fish. Oh, and in the state of Connecticut, random samples of all pickles produced must be submitted to a bounce test, passing which requires them to bounce.
There is a law on the books in a town near where I live that states, "A man must tip his hat to each passing cow". And another, "Women are not allowed to wear shorts and ride a horse"...
With what is revealed in Cursed Child, assaulting the trolley on the Hogwarts Express could prove quite hazardous. 😸
The last one about the drink cart had me sitting here silent for about a minute refelcting on the law thinking about it and all I can think of to say about it is wtf? LMFAO

In Texas you have to give a 24 hour notice, either orally or written, to the person you are about to commit a crime towards and within the note you must describe the nature of the crime

In Skamania County of Washington State USA, willfull slaying of Bigfoot/Sasquatch brings a gross misdemeanor charge with a 1 year jail sentence and a $1,000 fine. Accidental is a regular misdemeanor with half the fine and jail time. Insane eh?

In Baltimore, Maryland it is illegal to bring a lion to a public movie theater. I am unsure if this means an American mountain lion (cougar) or an African lion.
In the USA it is illegal to be drunk and ride a bicycle. It is illegal to have a doll that is anatomically correct. And it is illegal to marry any cousin you are related to???? Go figure.

Re the drunk and the cow: Most rural Scottish counties have market towns which have a market square. Historically the market squares and later separate livestock markets were used to auction or sell e.g. horses, sheep and cattle, usually once a week. Market days saw an influx of farm workers from a wide catchment area and it was a great opportunity for these workers to have a good bevvy with old friends. If one digs deep enough it isn't too difficult to find some hilarious and strange stories about live-stock that escaped. In Scots Reparation Law (claims for damages) there's a very well known case 'The Bull in Arbroath' where a bull escaped from the market, got into someones wash house (a separate room at the back of the house circa 1900 - 1950), turned on a tap and flooded the house. Fact is sometimes stranger than fiction.Some old laws that have never been taken off the statutes seem really funny. Just wait until I catch someone wearing something under their kilt - it will cost them ! Thanks for doing this - very funny..... more please.
