Well executed solution for squaring table saw sized logs. If you ever have your oak trees trimmed and seen what gets thrown away this will bring tears to your eyes !!
Beside the fact that sawing logs with some spikes to hold it in place for either rotary or linear blades has never been a secret, it's much safer to use a sled for this process rather than running the fixture between a fence and the blade.

Yup, The whole video was a waste of time watching.. wasted all that time making it and it was worthless as a tool and a jig.. Nothing was safe in that, and all the sawdust piled next to the saw, OSHA would have a field day in that shop..
I was interested when he traced out the saw handle. Thought it was a nice idea to attach something to it. When he didn't clamp down pieces to use the router, I thought; to each his own. As I continued, I was impressed by how far back he was able to bend his index finger to keep it out of the way, then I realized...
Waste of time. Lightly nail a 1x4 against the side of the log and let it slide along the fence. Make one pass and you have a flat side to put against the table. Or clamp it to your table sled. Or use a vee block. It may have been ingenious to replicate the saw handle but this was a lot of extra work.

You or I might utilize an adequate BandSaw with re~saw blade…a fun shop time designing the ‘sled’ to create the 1st right angle…..the only one you need. Am I visualizing this set-up accurately ?

Yeah, they DO make square 4X4 poles already milled people can buy, but if people get desperate for square firewood, they can always resort to cutting down and stealing speed limit sign posts. 😁
What's the secret? That he puts his hands too close to a circular saw blade?
You mean his four fingers?
@@ibubezi7685 I Didn't realized by myself, but that's true 😂
Hence missing fingers 🤣 ouch!
@@ibubezi7685: His 3 left and an apendage. Let's get it right. 😁

😂😅😂😢😮
Wowww que hermoso secreto

Hi Harry! 👋😁
Long Sleve Shirt reaching over a moving blade is just an accident waiting to happen.
Yup, The whole video was a waste of time watching.. wasted all that time making it and it was worthless as a tool and a jig.. Nothing was safe in that, and all the sawdust piled next to the saw, OSHA would have a field day in that shop..
Excelente 🎉
You would think after cutting off his finger he wouldn't be so unsafe with a tablesaw.
Thank you 🖒
Wow, reaching over the uncovered blade is really asking for a hook for an arm
@@robertstorment6114 Patients...
He's already missing the index finger on his left hand
I noticed he's missing a left index finger
Also adjusting the fence while the blade is spinning. I always shut down the saw whenever I'm not feeding a piece of wood into it.
The index finger was just a test to see how bad it'll hurt when the hand is next. 😁
Muy buena idea felicitaciones

Good idea to square a round object but his work techniques are dangerous. Too many safety comments to elaborate.

Nice try, but not practical.
You are a skilled craftsman from watching your other videos, but you exposed your hand and arm next to the saw!
WHY? Don't they sell 4X4's where you live?
!
Seriously. If you can afford a table saw and DeWalt cordless tools, why waste time and money making this? Just buy a 4x4 and be done with it.
And he never measured it, just kept slicing it narrower and narrower, rather randomly. Why? What is it for?

Thanks!

Forget that stupid thing. Every sled is a form similar. My question is about the size of the blade used. It looks huge.
Too close from your hand. Maybe it would be much better give it a little bit more height. Super good idea by the way!

I was thinking 'gee, he's really getting close to that blade'... and then I saw his missing finger.
Well done -- Thanks for a very useful idea!
I had no idea there are so many people who don't burn round logs, they'd rather cut them square before chucking them into the fire? 😁

American Secret - Home Depot LOL!

Someone should invent a mini sawmill...
People. AWAYS look at the end first.
Needs a blade higher than typical table saws can cut.
Nice to see he's using push sticks now, in place of his left hand forefinger. 😮
I wonder if it's up his left nostril? The camera didn't pan up to tell?
Oh My, What a Secret this is.
A true carpenter. 9 fingers 😂😂😂
Seems like a lot of work to make a 14-inch long piece of 4x4.

Do you still have all 10 digits, because watching you use that saw was scary. You keep working like that and you will lose fingers or worse.
Look again. He's already missing the index finger on his left hand.
Got to love how this guy is missing his left index finger- not a good endorsement of his woodworking skills …
I missed the secret part. 🤔

Because nobody wants to go through all that work for a 2x2.

Soy.
Wow he made wood!
Of little need and too dangerous.
Los dedos de la mano izquierda 😮
Buena idea y muy útil, te felicito
Useful for taking up more space in the woodshop, but will rarely, if ever, get used.

OK, so the first question in my mind, is "What can I learn about circular saws, from a carpenter with a finger missing from his right hand?"😢
