Always the best and most comprehensive fly tying videos. I've been tying flies for 30 + years and there is always something new to learn. I absolutely love your fly tying videos.
Love it. I’ll have to try that dye technique on my domestic CDC. The wild stuff is almost impossible to find and expensive. Darn “supply chain” problems. Great tie though.
Hi Davie, a fascinating small fly. If you have the time and conditions are right could you possibly consider putting it to the test? I am minded these days to fish much smaller flies on my spate river. Enjoyable, as always
Great video as always. What book is that in the thumb nail showing the insects and the tied interpretation of it. Any books you would recommend to someone learning new patterns? Many thanks.
Hi Patryk Niedzwiedz, The book is called Hatch Guide for New England Streams by Thomas Ames Jr and I am glad you enjoyed the video All the very best Davie..
I did enjoy it, Davie... Thank you. I'm wondering a thing... do you find using the whole CDC feather and wrapping for the body floats the fly better than using CDC and dubbing it on? Mike
Hi Mike, I do like to dub the cdc on the bodies more than winding it especially with the larger flies as it's easier to get a nice shape but I've not really noticed any difference when fishing them although you do get a really dense body when dubbed so I would have to say it would float better..I'm glad you enjoyed it.. All the very best Davie
Hi Jacob, Hatch Guide for New England Streams is the name of the small book, when I bought this book many years ago is was $30 so as it's no longer in print it has became very collectable.. @@DavieMcPhail Thanks, Davie... I hadn't thought about a density difference. That is a good thing for me to know.
