It was a pleasure watching you tie in Somerset this year. That little tip of peeling a few fibers off before tying off the hackle is so good. Subtle, but saves messy errant fibers.
I love that you leave the little mishaps in your videos. I do the same in mine. It kind of lets our subscribers know that these things happen. You just have to persevere.
I’ve been tying 30 years and have fished bwo’s on the south Holston river in TN for the same number of years. I started using this parachute pattern when I first saw rene harrop’s version and it has always been a very effective pattern for me. I had to comment on how you change the orientation of the hook in your vise. That is an awesome trick! I mainly use just cdc flys now but if I decide to go back to parachute style drys I will definitely use this trick! Again great video and nice looking fly!
Hi Clint, thanks thats excellent, so pleased that you have found it useful. If its CDC you use most, may I recommend that you take a look at my para weld technique for a CDC parachute hackle: th-cam.com/video/DaNOD1RZAx0/w-d-xo.html
Great tie. One question, for the parachute feather, do you remove the barbules of the feather that will be in contact with the post? Thanks for all of the great videos, have learned a lot from them.
Hi Barry while I posted I was getting your videos I also asked a question regarding the wooden dowels with the magic tool , no rush but are you gee ting comments from viewers only trying to help regards Ed 👍
Excellent timing, I started scouting BWO patterns two days ago. I wish to add the silver badger hackle to my bench, do you recommend a cape or a saddle?
Being frugal, I use the leftover CDC as a dubbing. I have pill bottles with a holes drilled in the bottom; it only takes a couple of seconds to strip the fibers from the stem and stuff them into the pill bottle and snap the cap back on. Find that these pill bottle dubbing dispensers are convenient for storing custom blends of dubbing as well.
The feather bender Can I ask a personal question and get and honest answer, do you not keep them because you get the CDC for free or that you just can be bothered with keeping them?
Not sure just why. One of your simpler flies in many ways. Just tied perfectly. Beautiful, really elegant. Thank you sir.
Glad you like it, thank you.

That looks like a great fly, nice video!!
Thanks Zack.
@@Thefeatherbender No problem< I have a fly tying channel too!!
That fly has so much heat I'm surprised that your tying desk didn't catch on fire. Wish I could find some of those Turkey Biots, the goose gets loose.
Thanks Scott. The wild turkey biots are from Natures Spirit in the US.
@@Thefeatherbender 10-4, thank you for the reply, they look much easier to work with.
Beautiful. Need to add the recipes on the vid and post below.
Thanks Deven, will do...

Superbe , merci beaucoup

Thanks Robert.

Thanks Mike, thats correct but only on some patterns, generally the smaller sizes, i take less room on the post and give a much neater hackle.
Thanks, I’ll have to try that
Hi Barry while I posted I was getting your videos I also asked a question regarding the wooden dowels with the magic tool , no rush but are you gee ting comments from viewers only trying to help regards Ed 👍
Hi Edward, yes I am replying to viewers everyday but some for one reason or another never get to me. What was your question?
👍🏻👍🏻
Hi, for your parachute material in this pattern what did you use?
Hi Eli, for the hackle I use a silver badger saddle hackle and the post is CDC.
Hi Barry I'm curious, does the turkey biot body give u any balance/buoyancy issues?
No not at all!
Man, the one dislike bothers me...maybe they don’t like your accent? Because the flies are awesome...always!
It's not the accent. It's just that they want to ruin a perfectly made tutorial video because they don't have a life.
Ok, now i try 😅
Did it work?
Legend👍
Thanks Heidi.
IT would be nice If you could list the materiale you USE.
Thank you.
Krok Mustad R 30 # 12, Hale, Coq de Leon, Kropp, Gås biot, Fallkjærm post CDC, Hackle Silver badger, Thorax, Oliven ekkorn dubbing.
Excellent timing, I started scouting BWO patterns two days ago. I wish to add the silver badger hackle to my bench, do you recommend a cape or a saddle?
Thanks Ernest, Whiting silver, silver badger saddle works real nice all in the correct sizes.
Where did you get your turkey biots they're beautiful? I love. Your flies!!!
Hi Ludovic, they are wild turkey biots from Natures Spirit in the US.
Where do you buy thos biots?
Hi JC, they are wild turkey biots and they are sold by Natures Spirit.
Do you keep the cdc you cut off for dubbing or do you just discard them?
Hi, I discard them.

Hi fly dry river, a little of both, I'm lucky, I have enough CDC that I don't need to use time prepping these small off cuts.
The feather bender thanks for the honesty. And excellent fly by the way.
👍👍👍
