I would have loved to join you on your walk, you are very interesting. I find that I too walk slowly these days and as you said it means you notice more. Keep on doing your super videos x
I loved seeing your railway line walk, I love all the history and the remnants of how the trains linked us all in those days. Fabulous, Kate! Thankyou!
Watching this on Sept. 11, 2023 and am so grateful for all of the calm & quiet that comes with it. Today is a big day of remembrance of 9/11 here in the USA, and there is just so much grief & darkness that goes with it for those of us who lost loved ones in the attack that it can just be too much to see/hear nothing else on the radio, tv or papers but more grief. Thank you for the respite that your videos provide!
Happy New Year TH-cam friend! Thanks for the walk. I just love your countryside. It is 28 F (-2 C) here so no walk for me today. At least the sun is shining and we still have a little bit of snow. Staying in today in the warm. Just opened my calendar to January and looking forward to 2020 and all that you have planned for us. Thank you and all that helped for a wonderful 2019.
Here is my last bit about my small friend Jack. Jack's mother just called and between peals of laughter told me the following. This morning, Jack was still raving about our Emil literary weekend. She asked Jack if he would invite a girl next year. Jack replied, "Girls aren't any fun until they are Devna and Kate's age." I am 72 and Kate, I know you are near enough behind me that other than the ocean separating us, we could have been childhood chums. 2020 is starting in just the right way!
Happy New Year to you too Kate, it brought tears to my eyes to see the lovely walk you took us on and the green fields. I live in East Gippsland Victoria Australia, we have been ravaged by Bush fires in my community and I am now helping out to feed the 100s of fire fighters that have come to our area to help out and try and save homes , farms, and wildlife, so Christmas and New Year has gone like a blur and it was so nice that when I finally had some time to myself i find you very comforting New Year message. All the best for 2020. I love your TH-cam videos.
April O'Connor My heart hurts for you and everyone else in your country. I hope our mutual “friend”, Kate, can continue to distract you from your current reality.
Happy New Year 2020 I received my box you put together for Christmas and I absolutely loved it. I hung the angel and bird in our window in our RV since this is our home. I will cherish each item for many years. The books you wrote I can read over and over. My husband worked in the Pennsylvania State Prison as a teacher. He knew the award you talked about and about how long it takes to get programs started. He was a teacher of electronics. He really enjoyed it. He retired 2 years ago. So he retired from the Marines and retired from the state. Now we are full time RVers. We love it. I have a sewing/craft space and I really couldn't be more happy. I so enjoy your channel as it reminds me of where we lived in Pennsylvania and times where I grew up. I just wanted to thank you so much for all you do. ❤️ Love and friendship, Chris
The Little Women film was made half in Concord, Massachusetts and half in Harvard, Massachusetts where I was born and raised. I watched the film when I was traveling in my van - I think it was n Appleton Wisconsin. It was a terrific adaptation and I enjoyed swing places I knew so well until the age of twenty. Lovely that it hasn’t changed much at all since the 1950s.
The walls are awesome. As are the fields of sheep. I live in the U.S. We visited Scotland and northern England this past September. Some of my favorite sights were the walls and sheep - there were so many!! Beautiful scenery.
Thanks for the walk, such beautiful scenery.I live in Northwestern Ontario Canada.we were at -27 the other night and had an almost 3 day storm that brought us over 30 cm of snow.Thank you for for sharing with us Happy New Year!
It seems that my small friend Jack and I started a tradition last year with your reading of Emil. I must admit I was a bit surprised when he called to ask what day was good to bring a friend for our "annual" Emil reading. (Jack's mother was worried that he was being a bother...as if that could happen :-) Jack's friend Jerry was chosen because he knows how to be quiet during a story reading! Our 2nd annual overnight literary event was wildly successful with vats of home made hot chocolate, huge bowls of popcorn and a fudge making lesson thrown in the mix. Norma was admired and they both agreed that your English accent was excellent :-). There was a discussion pause after each chapter that I really should have recorded. So Kate, it seems that you have a massive responsibility to preserve that posting. Happy New Year everyone!
@@sharonbrown2468 It was just as fun as it sounds! Jack is the son of one of my daughter's friends. I made them silver dollar pancakes with Vermont Maple Syrup for breakfast. Jack told his friend, "Just like last year". As they left with their sleeping bags Jack said, "This is my favorite holiday tradition, next year, then?" I told him as long as he wants to do this, I'm in! Hmmm, I think I would ship them popcorn and hot chocolate packets and a pan of fudge (or cookies). Make a phone appointment, then you can be on the phone with them while Kate reads the book. They have to agree to not speak while Kate is reading, then between the chapters, you can discuss it. Believe me, the discussions are to not be missed!
Devna Roberts this way of interacting has become the new normal normal now, who would have thought this, when you wrote this piece....hopefully you will be able to have this tradition the next new year 2021
I just want you to know that you are my role model. I love watching you do your things and I try to take the same kind of active interest in the simple things of my own life. Long walks, new movies, my favorite crafts and family.
I am so happy you decided to go for a walk! This video was so lovely and just perfect for New Year’s Day. Thank you for sharing and a blessed 2020 to you.💫
I love seeing you again and Norma too. I love your understanding and relationship with all your lovely cats. Thank you for this lovely video, I so enjoyed your walk. cheryl
Watching your videos late at night because I’m only 2 weeks out of spinal fusion surgery. Sometimes, it takes a little while to get relaxed enough to go to sleep. I’m so enjoying your chats, walks, cats; it’s so comforting. Thank you, Kate.
Hiya 🌞, thankyou, just wanted to be able to enjoy a ramble in the countryside, as the old legs let me down in that department nowadays. Love ❤ being able to sit on the lime green sofa and have a natter with everyone also . It's now 2023! but I look through those videos that I haven't seen whenever I m crafting etc so l have everyone's company-sending everyone s favourite treats down (great to be indulgent without having to watch the calories! ) Best wishes to all, J.I.M.K Mrs. Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 ♥ 😀
Wishing you a very Happy & Healthy New Year! You have the sweetest, kindest countenance and it beams through your videos! Your creativity and love for learning is inspirational! Looking forward to seeing what you bring to us in 2020.
I love your countryside video. My grandfather was from Manchester but we don't know much about him because he was deported from the U.S. when my father was just a baby. I miss having him around to tell me about his home country. So, seeing your videos tugs at my heart as if I belong there. Thank you Kate for filling in some of my blank spots. Happy New Year to you and yours.
I went to Star Wars today.....really loved it! I went with my son and grandkids and it was a fun way to spend some New Years Day time. My husband owns his own business and Jan 1 is a big inventory day, so he was up and gone before 5 a.m. He went to bed early last night so I did some cross stitch, watched a movie, and had a glass of wine ...nice and quiet! Happy New Year!!
Dear Kate, Your countryside is just breathtakingly lovely! Thank you so much for sharing it, your cooking which always makes me hungry, quilting (I'm a quilter too!), your family and of course the cats! I just feel at home when you are talking and wish I weren't all the way in Colorado! Much love and a very happy, interesting and peaceful new year to you! x
Hello Kate! Such a joy to start the NY off with news from you. Not all of us have family of our own but being able to share your news through your videos, it feels as though I have a pal ‘up north’ now. I craft and cook more for myself now because you show me it is worthwhile. Thank you Kate for everything and I wish you a fabulous 2020! 🎉🍾🎂💐😉
Loved seeing the country, the history of the stonewall is amazing and beautiful! I don’t think I would have made it up the hill you must to be in such good shape. 💕
The scarf you are netting is very pretty, I love being outside also, I like to go out and be in the snow as it covers everything in a white blanket. I guess I love to experience all I can, I am very blessed. Have a wonderful day. 😊 ❤
August 2022 and just found this video, Kate. So enjoyable - the perfect way to spend Hogmanay, in my book. It was very poignant, too - given that we didn't know what 2020 held in store for us. It also brought back such a lovely memory for me. I grew up 30 miles from where you did ... and my dad used to tell me the same joke!!
This was so lovely. Thank you. I think you may have mentioned Patreon changes upcoming and I'm interested to know more about that when you're ready to share. Popping over to the shop now. 💚💚💚
Happy New Year to you Kate and all the people on the virtual sofa. I'm about to walk to work in the rain, so am envious of your sunshine 😉 I'll leave the virtual biscuit tin on the far end arm of the sofa, in the hope there are still some left when I get back at 9.30 pm.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍🏻 Hello dear TH-cam friends Kate & Norma, Happy new year with all my best wishes to you and family. Looking forward to all new adventures, new experiences and lots of fun chats all together on your virtual couch .. 😘👋🏻👋🏻
Happy New Year Kate and to everyone watching her wonderful videos!! I’m from Henderson, Kentucky: but grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska which i love dearly and miss it. I’m so looking forward to this year’s videos!!! Thank you for all you do for us. You are an island of sanity in a crazy world!! Bless You!!
Just watched your video from 1/1/2020 - what a lovely part of the country you live in. My mum was from England, but lived in London and then South End before her mother emigrated to Australia in 1924 with her and several sisters and a brother. She has passed now but I still remember her talking about her young life in the south of England. I am a constant crafter also and cannot throw out too much material. Keep all sorts down to 2" squares. I also think I can get a flower petal or leaf from this for any applique work - sometimes even a wing of a small butterfly, so keep on keeping on. Love designing quilts for my grandchildren now that I have retired, so those scraps often come in handy. Also love hand sewing and have done several quilts which have embroidery included in them. Love doing them and giving to friends or grandchildren. There is so much to do each day that I am only now catching up on some of the more demanding chores. - What do they say - housework can wait????. I can't let it go for too long, but love getting into my sewing studio to have some time to myself.
Thanks so much for the lovely start to the day and year. I wish you and your family a peaceful, happy and healthy New Year. Thanks for being a part of my life!
Happy New Year Kate...guess how many of your subscribers would love to spend a day with you in 2020🤗. Such a breathtaking view. I will be here with you all year as well as I was in 2019. Your videos take my anxiety away and I am so grateful for you. Big thanks to the kids for all their help in making memories at the Last Homely House. Hugs to you.
Thank you for taking us on your walk We are lucky to live on a very beautiful island called Great Britain 🇬🇧 with scenery like you live in I love it Look forward to 2020 seeing snippets of Agnes Keep fit & well Thanks for 2019 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🥰💕Happy New Year my very special You Tube friend! This is going to be a wonderful creative New Year 2020! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. You always make my day. 🌞💃🏻 🥰💕🧶🧵🏠👍👍
Happy new year. Little Women, two of those girls were from Oxford, Flossie Pugh and Emma Watson. They were both at school with my daughters, I even taught Flossie Biology. I enjoyed the flashbacks and forwards, my youngest daughter who has not read the book was able to follow the story.
Happy New Year Kate! What a lovely walk, I love winter walks in the winter sunshine. I shall be taking my son to see Star Wars, he is 42! Never too old to be taken to the cinema! Happy days ahead! Blessings x
Your grin is so precious; cherubic and like a very happy person. I always enjoy your videos and even more enjoy when you smile. Your stone walls remind me of the stone walls I see here in Pennsylvania. They were used to keep cattle in, like a fence. Sadly, they are falling down and trees are growing around them because the land is abandoned. But they are made the same way; laid stone with no mortar. Your walk makes me want to get out and do some too, but there are barbed wire fence around me; no open land. No matter.
When you mentioned a Christmas stocking for little Agnes, I thought, 'As young as she is, she'd get the most good out of actual warm stockings for Christmas.". I was so tickled then, to see the lovely stockings you knitted. Happy new year. Thank you for the beautiful walk.
Happy new year to you Kate and your family, and many many thanks for a year of loveliness. I look forward to watching your 2020 adventures as I open the first page of my Last Homely House calendar! 💖🌸
Your home is so cozy and lovely. Norma is adorable 😻and quilt is beautiful. I like when is my quite time I do crocheting on my cozy chair with my hot tea. I wish you’re my older sister. 🤟🏻
This is the first time I have tuned into your podcast. I really enjoyed seeing your world and a bit of England. Seeing how close you are to Hadrian’s Wall reminded me of a trip to England several years back. We walked along Hadrian’s Wall for a while and we’re so taken by it we ended up making a mini Hadrian’s Wall in our gardens! Although, we don’t walk on it, our dog certainly has enjoyed it! Greetings from California!🤗
Thank you for showing us where you live and of course the lovely Norma. It is very smoky here today in Ocean Grove. We are one of the lucky ones as we are surrounded by huge fires in South Australia, New South Wales and even our own state of Victoria has a large chunk on the east burning. It is bush fire season but this has been the worst in a long while. There are no fires near us but the wind is blowing the smoke our way. Thankfully we are not too hot today but I can't venture out as I have asthma. So thanks for a lovely video as I will be hiding inside for a while. Happy New Year Kate and I look forward to seeing more of you in 2020. Love from Down under.
You and Norma are simply delightful. I have a feeling of serene peace as I have a cup of tea while we chat. I am so happy to have found you on TH-cam. Imagine and live in peace. Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart Aka Artlady I work with young artists from the Dowd homeless education center...when I share they get so tickled with your accent. Thank you for your gentle moments.
Oh Kate; my Dad asked me the same question about noses and days and I now ask my grandchildren. They’re too young to grasp it yet but it’s the lovely continuing of a family tradition. 😀
Happy New Year, Kate! Thank you for putting aside your knitting and taking us along on your hill walk. It was just beautiful and almost as nice as if we'd been there with you. The Herdwick are so pretty out in their field. I hope you made it to see Star Wars.
Thank you Kate a beautiful countryside have a wonderful and blessed new year hello Norma looking forward to your videos in 2020 your grand daughter is lovely God bless you and your lovely family ❤️🇦🇺
And a great big thank you to you Kate for a great homely house 2019. Happy new year ahead to you and yours xxxx I'm looking forward to spending another year with you and Norma at the homely house xxx
Katie you make the videos so peaceful and relaxing for us every time but I particularly enjoy when you go outside and show the countryside. The sweeping vistas are gorgeous. The stone wall is just amazing. Looking forward to what you have in store for the channel this year. Nancy
LOVE NORMA!!! What a beautiful way to start a new year. Love it when you take the walks, stunning countryside you live in. Thank you Kate for an amazing 2019 and can't wait to see what will follow and bless us with in this new year 2020. So happy to hear Anna will be taking part this year.
Thank you for taking us along on your walk. You live in the most beautiful and peaceful place on earth. The stone wall reminds me of the ones I've seen in New England. Oh, and the sheep! To have this view at your fingertips is incredible. All the best to you in 2020.
Thank you Kate for all that you do. What a beautiful day for a walk, so lovely that you take the time to share with us. Have a very, very happy new year! Looking forward to whatever you have in store for us for 2020. You are a blessing. 💕💕xxxx
Happy new year dear Kate your message reminded me of my lads who I brought up from my wheelchair that taking things slower and enjoying the beauty sure makes you see life differently we would look at the roof tops and the sounds of birds we had such adventures. After seeing car tyres going through a puddle I convinced my son they were crocodile tracks every day we went to looks at them in a very large puddle it was so exciting please take these fun times to have with little ones I treasure those times bit of a mad mum much love Chris xx
Thank you Kate. What a lovely New Year's Eve. It was great that you were able to get outside in the sunshine. The scenery was beautiful!!! The items in Agnes's stocking were charming and it is also charming that all of this (and you) will be documented for when she grows up. Happy, healthy and peaceful New Year to you!!! Margaret O'Brien
Kate, please consider a knitting tutorial with the overhead view. I am so befuddled with knitting. You make it look so easy.
I would have loved to join you on your walk, you are very interesting. I find that I too walk slowly these days and as you said it means you notice more. Keep on doing your super videos x
I love seeing the countryside, the stone wall, the sheep, looking into Scotland.
Such bucolic scenery! And, no, we cannot disturb Norma! Happy New Year, Kate, from Northern California to Northern England!

Amazing footage of the nearby landscape 💚

Hello from California,I just decided that I would crochet while I enjoy your chat
Happy New Year Kate. What a lovely walk. Glad you took us with you.

Happy New Year to you and all my fellow viewers. May your year be filled with many blessings and much joy.
Thanks for taking me in such a lovely walk it was a truly beautiful place. Happy new year xxx
Easy does it, especially when walking on a sunny but cold New Years Eve!
Very nice video. I love the outdoors, too. And around your home is so beautiful. 😊
Happy new year to you Kate and your family, and many many thanks for a year of loveliness. I look forward to watching your 2020 adventures as I open the first page of my Last Homely House calendar! 💖🌸
I've had an unnerving week and it's so restful to watch you.
Beautiful stone walls.... they fascinate me wonderful crafts men .... we have lots in N.Ireland

Happy and joy filled 2020 from our house, and cats, to you and yours!
Happy New Year Kate. Looking forward to what's to come in 2020. God bless.
