  • Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year and is regarded as the "Sabbath of Sabbaths". The focus of this day is atonement and repentance, and it's observed with prayer, fasting, and giving charity to those in need. Yom Kippur takes place on the tenth day of the seventh month in the Hebrew calendar.
Yom Kippur is the only day in which the High Priest was allowed to enter the Most Holy Place in the Temple. It's a day of intercession in which the High Priest makes atonement for the people.
Should Christians keep Yom Kippur? Most Christians seem to think that Jesus put an end to the Feasts and that the Biblical Feasts are only for the Jews, but listen to what the Bible has to say about it.

I am praying for you!!! I understand your struggle because my relatives are extremely opposed to Torah observance. They are a part of mainstream Christianity. I am just focusing on learning biblical obedience and trying to live a life that honors my Messiah. I am not going to fight my family on this. I am going to focus on living a life that is holy and hope that eventually my example will lead them to a deeper understanding.

I am so glad that I found this video. I tried to tell Christians that we were grafted in to the Jewishness of our Messiah, we are not here to graft them in to our westernize way of Christianity. I believe that celebrating the feast brings us into a deeper intimacy with our Lord which is what the church is missing.

It is an image of the work of God through Christ Jesus. And since God has done this, and is ever present in our conscience and minds the deed that was done in the past, a living truth in our spirit, we are to rest from works as commanded.
Those who do not rest on this day are cast out.
This is the day of atonement. And you must be humble, rend your heart, and cease from all your works.

Watching and listening, I was moved to share a testimony of my spiritual experience when I received a New Birth in my spirit that has something to do with the Feast of "Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement" in the Old Covenant in relation to the New Covenant.
On the day when I surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus, wherein I acknowledged myself a sinner and humbled myself before Him in prayer with all my heart: confessed, repented and asked forgiveness of all my sins before Him, and that what He endured on the cross is for me and mankind that we may be forgiven, and that His Blood is the only one that can cleanse us from our sins, I felt something unusual happened in me.
I sensed within me that something like a water was 'poured' on my head. The 'cool water' flowed down slowly like an 'oil' from my head to my shoulders and my whole body. As the water runs down my body, hands, legs and feet, I felt something coarse like 'sand or mud' that goes down with it until it 'disappeared' at the tip of my fingers and toes. Afterward, I felt so 'light and refreshed' as if I had no weight, and then I was filled with the 'Love and Peace of God', which made me feel that 'I love all God's creation'.
Then later on something like a 'seed', broke open in my heart, wherein out of it an 'unspeakable joy' filled my whole being within that lasted for many days. Immediately I was filled with the Holy Ghost that was followed by many godly and biblical spiritual experiences and manifestation of gifts like to dream dreams and seeing visions. ( Acts 2:17; 2:38-39; 3:19-20 ; Ephesians 3:16-20; 5:18; John 3:3-8; 1 Peter 1:8; Matthew 13:23 )
The Light of the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge and Revelation ( Ephesians 1:17 | Isaiah 11:2 ):
Then and only then, I realized how filthy is a man before God; he is covered with mud of sin and filthiness of life in this fallen world. He needs the Holy Blood of Christ Jesus that He had shed on the Cross to cleanse him from all sins, filthiness, inequities and unrighteousness. Blessed be THE LORD.
Truly, the Word of God is true concerning the filthiness of man because of sin, and the cleansing of it can be done only by the washing of the Holy Blood of the Son of God, which He had poured out on the Cross.
My experience clearly defines and confirms the message of the Gospel on the forgiveness of sins in the Name of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus by the Atoning Sacrifice He had done on the Cross for our Salvation and in receiving the promised Life Eternal in Heaven.
Furthermore, the sin that had entered into this world and man's life is the weight that made man carries a heavy load. But, the Lord Jesus had carried it all the way until His death on the Cross of Calvary. Therefore, those who acknowledged what He had done and received it in their lives as a propitiation of their sin and fallen nature shall He remove this weight from them. He shall replace it with a burden and yoke of following Him and living His Will that is light and easy.
This testimony of God in me made me fully understand how to be forgiven of The LORD our Merciful and Gracious God as what His Word, the Holy Bible teaches, which I considered a 'great and marvelous' work of The LORD our God.
Thank You so much Father, for washing away my sins and cleansing me with the Holy Blood of Your Only Begotten Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that He had shed on the Cross of Calvary. Thank You for the "Justification unto Sanctification" that Your Son had done on the Cross for me and mankind. Thank You so much Father.
    Scriptural Lights:
    Psalm 51:2, 7, 10 | Ezekiel 36:25-27 | John 13:7-10 | Hebrews 10:22 | Psalms 19:12 | Jeremiah 33:8 | Acts 3:19 | Matthew 11:28-30 | Romans 8:29-30 | Ephesians 5:26 | Titus 3:5 | Ephesians 1:7 | Romans 5:8-11 | Romans 3:23 | Romans 10:9-10 | 1 John 1:7-9 | Revelation 7:14 | Leviticus 17:11 | Hebrews 9:22
I believe that Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement in the Old Covenant in relation to the New Covenant is always observe daily and not just yearly in the LIFE of the SAVED BELIEVER, for ONCE and for ALL HIS LIFE he RECEIVED it, to LIVE and CARRY IT OUT throughout his life, as he WALKED with God in SPIRIT and in TRUTH offering his or her LIFE a LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY and ACCEPTABLE to God, being SEPERATED from the WORLD ( things that AFFLICT the LIVES of the true sons and daughters of God ).
With regards to the Seven Feasts or Days of Appointments in the Old Covenant ( Leviticus 23 ), in relation to the New Covenant, I believe that they are in the LIFE of the child of God as ALL IN ONE PACKAGE of the GIFT OF LIFE being the FIRSTFRUIT of SALVATION in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from his JUSTIFICATION to SANCTIFICATION, NEW BIRTH and INFILLING of the HOLY SPIRIT. All these and all the other LAWS in the Old Covenant are MAGNIFIED within in the LIFE of a true child of God by the MINISTRATION of the HOLY SPIRIT, as what the Lord Jesus said, 'He came to MAGNIFIED the LAW'.
To God be the Glory and Honor alone! God bless and graces to all.

I mean no disrespect to any of you but I have to ask. Why do you believe there is a need for both? The Christian Testament says all that ended because it was fulfilled in christ who is the final sacrifice. Isn't he good enough?? Why do you believe the commandment of Yom Kippur pertains to you when you are not living with the Jews in their land nor most of them in theirs? And what about Numbers 23:19 that says "I am not a man or a son of man." What about Ezek 18 that says the sons do not inherit the sins of their fathers? Peace.

it was a shadow of what Jesus would fulfill. the key to understanding this is found in Daniel chapter 9:26,27, & Daniel 12:1), where it says and "He shall make an end to the daily sacrifice...etc." this points to 31 a.d. when Jesus gave up His spirit and uttered the words "It is finished", when he said this it was meaning that it made an end to sin and the first prophecy in Daniel was fulfilled; what was promised. The 7th day sabbath still is required of course. ❤ Do research on the 2300 day(year) prophecy which began when the decree to rebuild Jerusalem went out in 457 b.c.(Ezra 7:23 & chp.9) and lands on the anti-typical day of atonement beginning in 1844 a.d. where now we're in the time nearing the close of probation the time where Jesus our high priest will move into the most holy place in the Heavenly sanctuary (see Hebrews). there is too much to unpack here.
but in a nut shell to tell people that they are REQUIRED to keep this is misleading, Christ's atonement for our sins is enough and to perform this ritual in spite of is to deny what He did for us. Now we break bread and take the cup and "this do in rememberence of me". if you want to keep Yom Kipur out of your love for Him is one thing but to feel like you are REQUIRED is another.

Thank you for this video series. I kept Yom Kippur for the first time this year, and what a powerful moed it is. Although I repent regularly, there was such a power in fasting and spending the day like the weekly Sabbath with God, but repenting and afflicting my soul and letting Him search out my inner parts and reveal all to me. Afterwards, I was given a clear revelation of my next step in my journey with Him, which I had been praying earnestly about for weeks. We serve such an awesome God and such a dear and precious Lord.

Thanks for the message. I see it's 5 years old but when it comes to Gods word it always feels new, fresh and timeless. Very humbling message.

      @ishiftfocus,
However, remember: Jesus was a Jew to the day he died, and he did observe every Old Testament Holy Day, till the day he died. The 'last supper' is representative of the 'Night to be Much Observed' (OT) and the first day of the 'Feast of Unleavened Bread'. He knew he would not be around to continue the remainder of those days__that's why he gave his disciples an "11th Commandment" during supper: to love one another(meaning, members of The Church) as he loved them. He did not 'abolish' or replace any Holy Days or Commandments.
I feel many who 'observe' Lent, and/or, Feast of Unlevened Bread, and Atonement don't take these Holy Days beyond the observance of them. They each are represetative of a change of heart, moving forward. Each day is not just for 'that' day__we are to take our experiences of those days and utilize them in our everyday lives, from then, on. Each Holy Day is an opportunity to BE a better 'human being' while we're here. That is the message of the 'New Testament'.
      Love, Light, and Blessings. 🙏😇✨💫🌱🌿🌻🐝🌳🌎💖🙌😺

Please read the New Testament now. Jesus made atonement, once for all, on the cross. This is why he is called "the spotless LAMB of God". Jesus told us that he came to fulfill the law. He also tells us love is the fulfillment of the law and then tells us "no greater love has a man than to lay down his life for his friend." Then he did that very thing. Jesus paid the price for our sins. That is atonement.

There are no fewer than 32! that is known of. What a sham. What a debacle. No wonder the Church opposed literacy throughout history. Only the upper classes could read and they were still controlled. You will get nowhere unless you take responsibility to educate yourself. You can have all the faith you want but it's nothing nothing. Fool's gold.

Thank you so much. I am struggling as a long time, solitary, self-taught Messianic. I am having trouble getting through the HHDays each year with a Catholic wife and otherwise American Protestant family. It is difficult to stay focused, confident and accurate as I practice alone and against the prevailing cultural current. So far we are consistent to observe Hanukkah and have finally shed Christmas. But it has taken almost 10 years to develop this with my wife. Now we have two young children and the in-laws are pretty rabid about their traditional holidays, as is the mainstream. I am literally exhausted and at the point where I don't want to bother, as I both RS and YK have been a scrub this year. But this give me hope as I was just thinking about how to get more organized. I look forward to your teachings on Sukkot. My children, 2 and 3, know the name Yeshua and I would love to have a some ammo that is modern and accessible to share with my family. ~thanks bro~

Thank you for this. God has been taking me through a season of unlearning many things in my drawing closer to him. I am not one who enjoy aimless ramblings and debates on God's word, so this concise bible-based teaching is very refreshing for me. I was raised in the "charismatic" movement and have been concerned with the increase of mega bling, we have lost the substance of sound doctrine. In my quiet time with God I have been learning that obedience is the highest form of worship and that we MUST follow the full counsel of God's word. This is the first time I try to observe Yom Kippur and I have done it alone. I have been wanting to observe the Sabbath as well and that hasn't happened yet because of work contracts that I have signed so I would also need to find some content on how to transition from my "non-biblical" lifestyle that has always been fashioned around the Gregorian calendar and Christian culture. I believe that the Church is the "called out ones of Yeshua" and what I have grown up with is the gathering of congregations that have fused bible teachings with pagan practices. For the most part, Christians are not aware of these distinctions. I say that out of compassion because I am one of them. The sole difference is that God has been revealing stuff to me during my personal devotion time. I will continue watching the Unlearn the Lies content as I continue to press on toward the "mark of the high calling". I believe that I am a Kingdom (of Heaven) ambassador who needs to be totally immersed (theoretically and practically) in the word of God so that the spreading of Yeshua's gospel and the making of disciples can be done accurately and in a way that is acceptable and pleasing to Yaweh.

it was a shadow of what Jesus would fulfill. the key to understanding this is found in Daniel chapter 9:26,27, & Daniel 12:1), where it says and "He shall make an end to the daily sacrifice...etc." this points to 31 a.d. when Jesus gave up His spirit and uttered the words "It is finished", when he said this it was meaning that it made an end to sin and the first prophecy in Daniel was fulfilled; what was promised.
My mother was crying and came into the livingroom amd told me to come to my bedroom window. So I did. She asked me to tell her what I saw. I was shocked!!! I saw in the sky as clear as day the ocean and on the shore was sand with gold. There was a man in a small boat and he had his arms stretched out wide. There were waves and they had been moving but were still as if you had taken a picture of something that was moving. On his left which was my right there was a big fish jumping towards him in mid air.
I never understood why I was shown this only greatful. I am 41 years old now. Any interpretation would be great.

Because of the Messiah Jesus the Christ, we no longer need to offer a burnt offering etc., but to uphold this sacred appointed time through Jesus, especially now, before his return. Look to Jesus, confess and repent. Trust upon him, on his account, in his powerful worthy name, for he is the living WORD, the sacred promise of God Almighty, that we may be saved and brought back in to the Heavens into eternal life, where we were originally intended to be. Let all come to repentance through Almighty's WORD, our Savior!

All attempts at trying to keep the Law of God without Jesus is grave failure that causes enmity with God. Only the ones who attempt to actually fulfill God's Holy Feasts 'without' his Begotten Son, aren't keeping the laws. All whom shove aside Jesus is guilty of this grave sin and shall be prosecuted as such. In Jesus, and ONLY in Jesus, can the law of Almighty God be truly kept 'Forever'!!! Jesus truly literally is the ONLY Priest, HIghest of all Priests, in the Heavens that is making intercession for all sinners whom believe upon his Holy Name, for he is the WORD of God, his only begotten Son. No one on the entire face of the Eretz can possibly actually keep God's Holy Appointed 'Times' without Jesus. Only those who make Jesus their Lord completely, can truly keep this Holy Time. Everyone else is without representation and without forgiveness of sins, and thus without God, until they and if they take to their knees to the Lord of lords. If they won't do it willingly NOW, soon they will when he comes. I don't think you yet see how 'Forever' means truly forever, and how only Jesus can fulfill this perfection, called for by God, forever! I hope you do. Take care

but in a nut shell to tell people that they are REQUIRED to keep this is misleading, Christ's atonement for our sins is enough and to perform this ritual in spite of is to deny what He did for us. Well done sir!!!! (I don’t think there is a salute emoji or I’d use it! lol) That was rock solid theology! We have chosen to celebrate the festivals and days the Son of Yahweh celebrated. This is our first year, the first of many. The idea presented itself when we watched The Chosen in the Spring. I thought to myself, I believe every word of Scripture, I know who created the world and who sent His Son to be the sacrifice for many. Some have not understood this. But like you said in another comment, it is our Creator that decides how He wants to be worshipped! So, we celebrated Rosh Hashanah. My children & I gained several day’s worth of deep dives into what Rosh Hashanah, the 10 Days of Awe (Repentance) and Yom Kippur are. For Rosh Hashanah we even searched for a synagogue or temple blowing the shofar. Prior to yesterday at sundown, I had resolved to participate in Yom Kippur as the launching pad for the beginning of something much more lengthy. Today, my son and I are gaining additional droves of information for this, the Day of Repentance. The Jewish people are the bloodline of the Messiah and I have a HUGE heart for those that are not Messianic. But I chose to show my love and reverence by participating in the festivals Yeshua did. Thank you for this post! Very encouraging in this day!! Oops!! I’m not supposed to be on electronics am I?? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Shana Tovah!

The affliction CAN be a way to afflict our souls, but there is actually no place in scripture with specifically says that the affliction IS fasting. The best thing to do is to pray and ask for the best way to afflict your soul, it is a however a personal issue so do as you are lead by the spirit. Just and observation.

It's interesting that Leviticus 16: 32 says "The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest is to make atonement". Does this mean the atonement ceremony was conducted by the High Priest himself, or by his son, or by an anointed priest?
If this verse points to the High Priest conducting the ceremony himself, recall that for Christians Jesus acted like the High Priest on our behalves when he figuratively entered the Holy of Holies (see Hebrews 6: 19-20).
If this verse points to the High Priest's son or designated successor, recall that Jesus is both the anointed one -- the Messiah -- and the heir to the Kingdom, the son of God.
Either way, it points to Jesus!

What don’t you get about YOU, and FOREIGNER, and DWELL, and AMONG YOU.
Further, You need to research what a foreigner IS in the interlinear concordance and bible dictionary and lexicon:
      Foreigner
      GER - H1616 - גָּר
      Transliteration: ger
      Pronunciation: gār
      Part of Speech: masculine noun
Root Word (Etymology): From גּוּר (H1481)
      TWOT Reference: 330a
      Outline of Biblical Usage:
      sojourner
a temporary inhabitant, a newcomer lacking inherited rights
of foreigners in Israel, though conceded rights
      Dwells
      H1481 - guwr
      H1481 - גּוּר
      Transliteration: guwr
      Pronunciation: gür
      Part of Speech: verb
Root Word (Etymology): A primitive root
      TWOT Reference: 330,332
      Outline of Biblical Usage:
to sojourn, abide, dwell in, dwell with, remain, inhabit, be a stranger, be continuing, surely
      (Qal)
to sojourn, dwell for a time
      to abide, stay, temporarily dwell
      (Hithpolel)
      to seek hospitality with
      to assemble oneself
to stir up trouble, strife, quarrel, gather together
      (Qal)
      to stir up strife
      to quarrel
      (Hithpolel) to excite oneself
to dread, fear, stand in awe, be afraid
      (Qal)
      to fear, be afraid
to be in awe, stand in awe
      Among You
      H8432 - tavek
      H8432 - תָּוֶךְ
      Transliteration: tavek
      Pronunciation: tä'·vek
      Part of Speech: masculine noun
Root Word (Etymology): From an unused root meaning to sever
      TWOT Reference: 2498
      Outline of Biblical Usage:
      midst, middle
      midst, middle
into, through (after verbs of motion)
among (of a number of persons)
between (of things arranged by twos)
from among (as to take or separate etc)
In other words, ISRAEL, and all of ISRAEL’s EMPLOYED foreigners who have no land rights must not be paid to work BY AN ISRAELITE, or THEY break the law, not the foreigner. The point is that it was against the law for a Jew to hire a guy living in Israel, and pay him to do work on a sabbath or holy day.
This word foreigner, truly means one who remains among the Jews either by conquest or by choice, that CHOOSES to become a Jew

I keep the Holy Days but I don't fully understand how or why. Prior to Yeshua, the Jews had a specific Holy Day called the Day of Atonement that was temporary & repeated annually. Since Messiah, we have been atoned for. So why would we carry on an annual day of atonement that requires repenting when our lives are supposed to be repentant regularly as sin occurs? The High Priest Yeshua did that work on the Cross, not on this day. We no longer need to make atonement. And we're unable to bring offerings as prescribed for the Day either. And you capitalize FOREVER, but we are unable to keep the statute in completion. This video doesn't really answer these questions. Maybe it's like a memorial of the past Day of Atonement & what Yeshua has done to replace the primary function of it.

Originally, a sacrifice had to be made inorder to attain remittance for sin. Once Yahusha/Jesus laid down His Life willingly, He became the last sacrifice. But He said He did not come to abolish The Law. He said He came to fulfill The Law. That means He us found within The Law. Yahuah/God/The Father does not change. His Way remains forever.

    • @justincase1919
      @justincase1919 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The Feast Days were given as an everlasting statute. They were and are shadows of things to come.
They were and are about Messiah and there are future fulfillments of them to come.
Yahshua is our High Priest and has atoned for our sins, but there's a future fulfillment of the Day of Atonement coming.
Yahshua was crucified on Passover, that was no accident, Yahuah planned it that way. The Disciples received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, that was no accident.
The next Holy day after Pentecost is Yom Teruah, or the Feast of Trumpets.
Yahshua returns with the blowing of 7 Trumpets... no accident.
There are disagreements about the meanings of The Day of Atonement, the Feast of Tabernacles, and The Last Great Day, and that's ok, but they do have meaning for everyone and are to be observed.
We are even told that everyone in the world will keep the Feast of Tabernacles during the 1000 year reign of Yahshua.
      ( Zech 14:16-19 )
So, no, they were not done away with.
Keep searching, friend. You will find the truth.
