Music and lyrics by Cole Porter, but made a jazz standard by Ella Fitzgerald on her album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Song Book. Top 3 Angelina performance in my book. Thanks for this! 💖
But Porter is different. He alone seems fixed in one specific period. His Broadway career began as far back as 1916 (the show was called “See America First”); his greatest success was “Kiss Me, Kate” in 1948; yet for most of us his music is linked to a single decade, the 1930's. By 1929 he had already written some of his most characteristic songs, among them, “Let's Do It,” “What Is This Thing Called Love?” and “You Do Something To Me.” After 1940 there were first‐class numbers like. “Everytime We Say Goodbye” and “You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To”; there were also no fewer than nine Broadway shows.
This is absolutely beautiful by Angelina but she was singing this saying goodbye to Norway 🇳🇴 as she was going to the States so it was quite sad really for Angelina and her fans Cole Porter is one of the most gifted song writers ever I I’m really surprised that you don’t know who he is he goes way way back and wrote some of the most beautiful songs ever please look him up Love ❤️ from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴👼👼👸🏻👸🏻🦶🦶🥰👏👏👋
Same here I just left the same comment I thought he was some vocal coach expert how could you not know this...just because someone sings the song does NOT mean they wrote it matter of fact very few singers actually write the songs they sing. ..I am in total agreement with you..shocked he didn't know this. Thought he was really knowledgeable...
Cole Porter wrote it and Ella sang it. It should be noted that Ella was recently voted the top jazz singer of all time. Sinatra was # 2, Nat King Cole #3 and Billie Holiday #4. The only difference Angelina applies is slowing it down. For a 10 year old girl, singing on a make-shift roof top stage, outdoors in Norway, with only a guitar keeping time, and matching or surpassing the beautiful 'professionally set up' presentation that was released by Ella in 'I'm sure', more than 'one take', it is truly astonishing if you think about it. Personally, it is the most 'moving' presentation of the song that I have ever experienced.
I’m a Indiana native and Cole Porter is a legendary songwriter from our Hoosier state. Ella Fitzgerald, and Sinatra both sang many of his songs. Check him out and you will recognize many of the song titles he wrote.
I just watched do you lovely about we can half ago? Nice biography Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd. Not great but well done. Then late 40s 🎼Night and Day, which I totally loved. 🌸
I see others have explained who Cole Porter is, so I’ll just say that Angelina portrays the song beautifully. Notice her face when she sings the “When you’re near” line. Her eyes light up and she has the sweetest smile. It’s just beautiful.
Hi, Love your reactions. Minor correction: Cole Porter wrote the song and Ella sang it along with countless others. Cole is one of America's true giants in music. Look him up sometime. His bona fides are endless. Thanks again.
Heartfelt, for sure. Beautiful memories. This video is up there in most people's top ten list. She's only 10 years old but, there is no question, at 10 she blossomed into a beautiful flower and most of her recordings at 10 are memorable never to be forgotten. The scene of this video is on the rooftop of an Oslo, Norway TV station. And, it was kind of a good-bye to Norway as she would be leaving to the USA later that day. Not permanently, just a visit. What's so remarkable about her performance here is when she knows exactly when to smile during the song. I know you will replay this for yourself so enjoy it and think of your grandma. Somewhere she will be thanking you.
I’m shocked you have never heard of Cole Porter, but that aside, you should now realize that Angelina Jordan is a national treasure of Norway, she might live in LA now, but you would have to fight the Norwegian People over her. Just because we are just now realizing her talent and artistry doesn’t mean she was not already widely well known, remember she already had the attention of Disney, SONY, and many other industry heavyweights, which included Quincy Jones himself. If not for the protection of her mother and extended family she would have already been widely marketed, but her childhood and her development may have been sacrificed in the process. Thank her family for preserving the innocence and artistry of a future Megastar!
Angelina showed so much emotion and purity in this rendition and it was totally exquisite. It is a real pleasure to listen to Angelina whatever she sings it is always amazing. Great reaction and thank you
The music and lyrics were written by Cole Porter. Ella did sing it and hers is the most famous version, but Cole Porter wrote it. Cole Porter was quite a famous composer-- amazed you haven't heard of him. He was born in 1891 and died in 1964.
If anyone needed an example of why Angelina is in a class by herself, this would be a good choice. This song is deceptively difficult to sing. Angelina, with nothing to hide behind, gives us pure, beautiful vocals with a maturity in delivery that seems impossible for a 10 year old. She recreates an era perfectly, and conveys the essence of the lyrics directly to the listener. Ella would be proud to hear Angelina sing this.
The amazing gift that Angelina brings to the music industry is the re-vitalization and renewal of long forgotten jazz and blues classics as well as re-introducing classic jazz to this younger generation. I can't wait until her marketing team takes the brakes off and starts getting her some serious exposure. She is going to take the industry by storm.
I hope so, but I doubt it, Taylor Swift alone has 43 million fans that love her "type " of songs. Then there is Billie E,, and Crazy Grace that suck up thousands, maybe millions more fans that should be for Angelina. They will buy any kinds of crap songs out there as long as it is sung by their favorite star. Angelina sings Art, not garbage.
Yes. Cole Porter's beautiful song was first published in 1944. Ella Fitzgerald is among a huge number of artists who have covered this song, including Angelina. Ella's cover was first published in 1956 and Angelina is without doubt honouring that version, exquisitely.
When Ella sung this gem beautifully in 1956 Cole Porter having written it, would have been so proud that one day a True Angel would do this song the upmost of justice in another century, and man hasn't she just done that!
Thanks for your reactions and for sharing your musical knowledge with us! Additionally, I appreciate the sound and video quality of your TH-cam contributions. Your attention to details are much appreciated!
One of my favorite Angelina renditions of this beautiful song. Cole Porter composed this song and it was published in 1944. Ella sang it in 1956 and again in 1974. Thanks for sharing this Gem with us.
Great reaction. Each of Angelina's performances is a gem, but we each find our own 'diamonds' in the mix. You're appreciation and enjoyment of this one was written all over your face. Delightful. Thank you 😀
@MrLboyd: "Every Time We Say Goodbye" Was written by Cole Porter (hugely famous composer) around the mid-1940s and first performed on stage in a musical revue.
COLE PORTER, "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye," premiered in New York City at the Ziegfeld Theatre on December 7, 1944, exactly 3 years to the day from the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
You know Ella Fitzgerald, but you don't know who Cole Porter is? The great songwriters wrote great songs for the great singers to perform. It makes sense that Angelina should do a Cole Porter song, too!
Cole Porter wrote such songs and lyrics as “Night and Day,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Begin the Beguine,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “In the Still of the Night,” “Just One of Those Things,” “Love for Sale,” “My Heart Belongs to Daddy,” “Too Darn Hot,” “It’s Delovely,” “I Concentrate on You,” “Always True to You in My Fashion,” and “I Love Paris", “Let’s Do It” and “You’re the Top.” So many great songs, there was even a movie about his life " Night and Day" with Cary Grant playing him.
I am amazed that a Music Historian as you say you are has not heard of Cole Porter. Look him up, he was a prolific composer and song writer in the 30's 40's and 50's
Everytime I hear/watch Angelina Jordan I tear up. I'm a 70 year old man. My dad played drums for a big band when I was a kid. Maybe that's it. She sings so incredibly well beautiful that we can hear her doing these beautiful songs again. BTW' I too have an enormous 1920s-2020 collection Mrlboyd. And listen daily. I just bought Miss Billie Holiday at Carnegie Hall, the double album. It's being delivered. And' I can't wait. Thanks for returning great music to us.
In my opinion, that is the best of Angelina's love songs. She sings it with a so soft voice and with much tenderness that one can easily see in her radiant face that her soul is witnessing the genuine connection of her spirit with the original intent of the lyrics. As she is performing, there is a sweet smile lingering in her face, as if she wanted to communicate with us a cheerful secret: that, despite the pain of being separated from time to time with our loved ones, love, peace and joy will always conquer the feeling of slow death due to their physical absence. The fact that she is singing from a rooftop under a clear sky could be viewd as a metaphor of that, don't you think?
Angelina is brilliant from singing Heal the World to this fabulous Cole Porter song made famous by Ella Fitzgerald..... I cry everytime she sings ..... she moves me so
The young Musical Soul Capturer/ Gate Keeper strikes your Hart again.. what’s so grate is she not only carries that tradition of that musical era , but her own take on the song sounds better and better the more you listen to it.. baby girls giving these classic iconic Songs New Life wile still maintaining/ Retaining That Timeless Classic Feel.. you just can’t teach this stuff.
COME ON MAN, COLE PORTER IS THE WRITER OF THE SONG !!!!!!! LOLOL he wrote many songs back in the early 1900's. lots of jazz and blues. Cole Porter was born in 1891 and died in 1964. he was an amazing composer.
Cole Porter wrote so many songs, many for movies. Here Angelina is using this song as a farewell to Oslo before a long trip to the USA. Here in the Summer of 2016, on the roof of the TV2 offices in Oslo. She did not have to put any effort into getting into the reflective mood. It is said that she started to write the song Oslo on the flight home. This performance is certainly in my top 10. I'm sure that she is longing to be back there, to give her outdoor concerts, alas, having to wait until 2022. Perhaps it will inspire her to write another song about Oslo...

I have watched this video countless times. Angelina just sings this so beautifully. Angelic.
Cole Porter, one of the greatest songwriters and composers of the 20th Century.
We have to consider the age of this girl, and what lovely tunes se give us👍💙
,
Once again Angelina shows why she is my favorite. Thanks for the great reaction sir.
Music and lyrics by Cole Porter, but made a jazz standard by Ella Fitzgerald on her album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Song Book. Top 3 Angelina performance in my book. Thanks for this! 💖
Angelina Jordan, the time travel agent. Destinations: Golden coastlines in music.

It was obvious from your reaction that Angelina really grabbed your soul with this song and just wouldn't let go.
My favorite too. One to go to for a relaxing moment.. 🤗
Thanks for sharing your memory of your grandmother. It's amazing how a tune or song can just take you straight back.
This is one of her best and only at 10...crazy.
Cole Porter is one of the greatest of the American song book writers.

Adore Ella How is it possible this little magical girl is on that level.?. SHE IS 🌟🙏🌟🙏🌟🙏🌟🙏🌟🙏🌟
Blew me away that you didn't know who Cole Porter is, you always seem so knowledgeable about music history.
Same here I just left the same comment I thought he was some vocal coach expert how could you not know this...just because someone sings the song does NOT mean they wrote it matter of fact very few singers actually write the songs they sing. ..I am in total agreement with you..shocked he didn't know this. I can't wait till Angelina gets out of her TicToc, blue-eyed phase and gets back to her old soul self. This is beautiful.
I can see your love for her more and more. You are not alone. I think she will be one of the greatest artist ever. This is one of my favourites.❤😎👍🇸🇪
10 year old Angelina's angelic voice drifting along on the gentle breeze over her home town as she prepares to leave for the U.S. Beyond beautiful.
Yes.Beyond beautiful!!!
When she sings, there is something so pure that emanates from Angelina .... I just love her and the music she shares with us all ...
I see others have explained who Cole Porter is, so I’ll just say that Angelina portrays the song beautifully. Notice her face when she sings the “When you’re near” line. Her eyes light up and she has the sweetest smile. It’s just beautiful.

Angel.ina😇🙏❤️ for Life!
Angelina's voice is like butter, and she turned me into butter too.

Great reaction to a beautiful song and a masterful singer
Every day I find a new AJ performance, and every day I have a new favorite song! Thanks so much for the reaction.

Cole porter was a great anerican songwriter/ composer with over 800 songs to his credit - many of them standards.

CRY ME A RIVER
This is probably the time in summer, where the sun just wanders up and down the sky, without disappearing...
As a Brit, many American accents set my teeth on edge. Yours is the opposite, a gentle relaxing tone worthy of any professional broadcaster.
I share your sentiment, only in reverse. That is, some British accents. But l do agree MrLboyd has a classy voice.
Stunning is the word for this one.
Mrlboyd your voice is as wonderful as what you showcase!
Thanks brother for another great reaction. I love this version, so calming for me.
MrLboyd Cole was the writer. Like a standard, Ella performed the piece. As likely many others have as well. She has a wonderful instrument
Mistic voice!!!!!
Speechless!!! Crazy!!!!
Incredible!!!!
Insane!!!!!!
No words, perfekt is understatement ✌😎✌💯 *AJ* 💯🎙
Angelina has done the world proud

Amazing performance by a 10 year old just caressing your soul with her vocals ❤ And to you, sir, have an amazing day ❤
Such émotion un tour voice and simplicity with à guitare ! Marvellous .!?!? Once !
You know Ella Fitzgerald, but you don't know who Cole Porter is? The great songwriters wrote great songs for the great singers to perform. It makes sense that Angelina should do a Cole Porter song, too!
Beautiful Rendition! On a different tip. You may like Angelina singing, I'm Still Holding Out For You. Amazing. Thanks for appreciating Angelina.
Absolutely great reaction to one of Angelina's best covers!💯💖
She is the vocal diamond!
That last “major to minor” was phrased beautifully
Cole Porter was a composer and song writer. He wrote the song.

What more is left in our dictionary to describe this Princess you just have to love her and her voice as she wows us over and over :)
Cole Porter wrote it. He’s a phenomenal writer. You should read a little about him. Love your reaction💕
Probably brings back memories of Angelinas grandmother too. So sweet the way you talk about her. She’s so special and so are you!
"Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" is a popular jazz song with lyrics and music by Cole Porter. Part of the Great American Songbook,
Cole Porter in wrote it in 1944, but Ella Fitzgerald probably recorded the most memorable version of it in 1956.
Cole Porter wrote and composed the song, it is common to note the composer on a song saying it is by them.
You've never heard of Cole Porter? One of the greatest songwriters of the last century? But yes, Angelina is killing it - no surprise there.
Cole Porter was a famous songwriter from the early 20th C! Check out his historic and brilliant career!

C'mon dude! You love Jazz. Cole Porter, man! Legendary composer.
Just absolutely beautiful Angelina !!! Thank you Mr.LBoyd !!!!

Good bye Oslo.... After this performance she was off to America. Gosh this kid can pick songs eh?
Such a fitting goodbye 💖 She will be back here next summer, to sing for us 😁
And I hope she will perform in the Avicii Arerna former The Globe in Stockholm. Just renamed after Angelinas good friend Tim Bergling - Avicii.
Uau!!! She is absolutely amazing
Dreamy i HAD CHILLS THE ENTIRE TIME!!!
