Those indentations behind the tank well and behind the seatback are for stacking another pelican kayak (similar to the way stack chairs are made to stack together). Saves space in sporting goods stock rooms or if you have a few similar boats.
Nice 'yak. I have the same one, only it's orange-- and going to stay that way 'cuz I got tired of looking at the OD green of my ten year old Old Town Loon. Those handles you dislike will be greatly appreciated when you flip the 'yak and have to upright it to get back on, and when you get on. To understand this, lay on your stomach beside the 'yak, reach across with your hand and roll it over. Imagine doing this on water, where it'd be a lot more simple. That notch in the rear could be a clearance spot for a rudder cable, a 'pole' anchor, or any number of things. Happy 'yakking', my Friend. And happy fishing!
The only reason I dislike those handles is because they don’t assist any at all with the single person carry! I wish they were more of a hands instead of a lip!
I just bought mine today. What's your opinion on the steadiness of it. I don't know if this is your first kayak but did you have trouble balancing? And what does scupper hole?
I just bought this kayak, Bc I have not been able to find many options where I live. I purchased on a whim before They sold out. I live in MO, I was curious if this would be a good kayak for float trips?
@@FLFishing2 same here. I tried contacting their customer support but I believe they're closed that. Seems like a waste of space to just be empty and not be utilized.
@@FLFishing2 I have the same one and mine came with a bungie tie down in those 3 holes up front. I took them off those and cut a hole where the pelican is and installed a dry hatch
Strange....He said the carrying handle in the front wasn't very good and would probably not last very long but the same handle in the rear looked just fine. His credibility just went down the drain. smh
I bolted a milk crate to the rear scupper holes and from there built a frame off the crate for a motor mount! Works great! Thanks for the video 👍

I wouldn’t personally stand up in it. I tried and it wasn’t pretty! Lol. But sitting it’s just fine.

They're called scupper holes to drain water from top to bottom if u take in water. They sell plugs u can insert.
