The right decision on the rhino - get those roots properly established in the ground and then start revealing more of the root. Same principle as root over rock. Cheers for the update Andy
Half the Tanuki is dead mate I’ll start again at the end of next year with fresh trees I’ve let grown for a years on the roof then do it in the winter next year. Long but they were definitely too young to nail 😩😩😩 never mind
Don’t need the rhino to die mate, I’m glad you went to getting the roots in the dark, trees have this habit of surviving freely and exposing roots that harshly above and beyond their means even with hardy species can go tits up, little exposure on roots over time is critical, many years and little shown is sometimes key, they spend all this time creating a biological balance of fungi and bacteria within the root system and it’s blown away with the new complete air imbalance and uv rays, you are subjecting it too, it’s said even washing the roots on a repot is bad and causing a sulk while rebuilding the system it created and having to rebuild it all again with its limited resources it has in its little pot but I’m sure many will argue that as they did the unorganic vs the organic soil debate they did a few years ago 🤣🤣🤣. Any way, long boring post and apologies lad, keep up the great work 🌳
