The last dude asked for some glue, you went in the back for an hour. And when you came back you started talking about how making glue drove you to drinking, to the point where he felt bad and paid more lmao
I find it oddly amusing how potions which are literally just glue or lubricant are so much harder to make than magical potions like healing, lightning and levitation :)
I’m going to predict that the way to rotate the potion would completely rotate the map so that the use of ingredients is changed drastically, and making oil base more efficient.
Or its from the different bases. Notice how healing was rotated when he used oil. There are probably some potions that are upright in oil that are rotated when using water.

Haven't played the game yet, but I bet moon salt spins your potions - after all, the salts are there to do weird shit, like how void salt removes parts of path you can't afford to go down, and "spins your potion" is a natural way to do that (and also force you to make salts on a regular basis).

I had a similar customer asking for gluing which also led me on a wild goosechase to discover where it was hiding. Like you, I also found slipperiness first and tried the opposite side of the map, given you'd expect it to be the opposite effect. I was starting to run low on important ingredients and you can bet I politely suggested to the customer that he go down to the blacksmith's and buy some nails instead, but I did find it eventually. It's too bad the game doesn't provide more clues on where to find potions. The positions of most of them make sense, but some... not so much. At any rate it was fun seeing your expedition around the map!

I recognised that herbs like firebell and waterbloom suggest the easy potions nearby that they'd make, but I figured they were just to get you started and didn't think about it much beyond that. Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look through them next time I play to see what I may have missed.

That recipe for the Strength Potion hurts. You can actually get it done in one Ingredient by utilizing the Whirlpool Portal to the south. Although Alien is far into the game, my advice to newer players is to learn where those Whirlpools go and take advantage of them to save a ton of ingredients. Some notable portals include the one to the right of the Strength Potion to to right beside the Stoneskin. The Whirlpool to the NW of the start brings you to the Swiftness.
Oil is a life changer, it makes some potions so much easier, I haven't finished the video yet I only just started but the father you get there won't be rotated potions, the map is also way smaller, but that has its own benefits very useful tool.

yea, on the steam page the devs mention the 8 directions as 8 "elements" and talk about the theming of it and also how they colorcoded the ingredients accordingly

Hey Tyler, I love this series! As others already said heating the crucible make stirring faster, but it can be dangerous/have unwanted effects while going over whirpools. If you want to stir faster without activating whirpool you can zoom in the map, which raises FPS and due to some interaction makes stirring faster (or, well, having low FPS makes it slower). Mind that this may not be visually appealing in video. Keep on making video masterpieces as always, and have a good vacation!
Mostly! A lot of the mid-tier rotated potions on water are straight on oil, which is what oil is best for. But there are some at the very edges of the water map which aren't on oil at all. The oil map is pretty small actually, or maybe water is huge? One of those.
Same, I've finished almost the entire game just missing rubedo, life salt, and philosophers stone as of now and seeing the comments specifically for me makes me wish I could tell more but I don't want to ruin the experience more than I already have.
tyler, if you want to stir faster when making a large roadd on the map, just, get the coals hot:)))) make a good fire, until it boils, and you will FLY on the map

I like that potion, you are small, slippery and hallucinating, nobody can stop you, even with magic, but you are lucky and nothing bad will happen to you in the end

I know this won't help him since this was prerecorded, but for people who are playing right now you can actually use 2 whirlweeds back to back, right from the start. It has to be be fully griinded and it'll look like you'll die since its super close, but you won't.
I hope another one comes out soon. Can't wait til you unlock the salts needed to rotate potions. The oil map looks awesome and I can't wait to see you mess around with it a little bit more. Seems like you can't mix water and oil together which would be cool but the new effects are going to make the game alot more interesting!
Just an observation. I noticed that after you use the whirlpools that the place you pop to has a pinwheel on the map that rotates when you use the billows. That 'might' be how you turn your potions.

If you can save unfinished potions you could theoretically save all the potions right before you finish brewing them do when you need a weaker potions or to combine multiple potions you can continue brewing from there, the only problem is you wouldn't get that potions label making it harder to find in the book (I'm pretty sure you could still name them though), Also I don't have the game to try this out so it's all theoretical.
when whirlpools send you to a new location, the symbol is arrows going in a circle, and when you heat up the pot they spin, so maybe it spins the potions
I don't remember where you said it but at some pint you asked if there was a fast stirring potion you can achieve the same affect by heating up the cauldron!
My theory for turning the potion is that monster Hunter guy said that they’d he eventually start selling ingredients and I feel he’d sell monster parts, which rotate your potion by some amount

I suspect that potion rotation will require one of the salt compounds or an upgrade to your basic alchemy equipment
So for faster stirring, if you heat the potion up it moves along the track faster!
Of course you still need to keep the whirlpools in mind.

You can stirr faster when you fire up the cauldron first. Plus, when you press shift, it directly throws the ingredient into the cauldron
