that transition into folded shape while walking and riding the escalator was smoothe. I need more practice with that, I always need to stop, crouch, and fold taking at least 20 seconds.
Best review ever, especially when you show it actually being used in real life situation aka taking it into the train station, no one ever does that, but yet it is critical to its functionality.
I have one for many years. In this video isn't shown that the form is made to hang it down between the coats or to place is in a luggagerack in the train. Not possible with the blockform if folded of other bikes. However the confort of sitting is so hard, that 10 miles biking is the limit. To prevent wooden buttocks. Me too I love this bike.
Nice bike. Only thing I have against Stridas is the price. The original concept was for an affordable, folding bike but sadly prices these days are up there with Bromptons. Still a very interesting design though.
here you go, I put the link into the description - but the style varies a lot, so don't be disappointed if the rest of the stuff doesn't sound like this song ;-)
You can find the ultimate Strida (Strida MAS) on the following design online store: Jardins Florian (just google them with strida as a 3rd key word). They deliver in Europe.
Hello, I really enjoyed watching your review about the Strida bike. By the way I have a question about the music of the video: Can you tell me the name of the song? Thanks a lot
a better way to carry this bike is to hold the left handle bar with left hand, to push the saddle back with right hand. That will make control the directions much easier and with less effort .
Excellent video, and very informative. I can see you are a fan of the Strida. I rode a Strida 3 a few years ago (I borrowed it from my old boss). I liked it but it was a bit 'creaky' especially the pedal/crank. I see that the new ones have a metal bracket welded to the frame now. Would you recommend the SX over the standard Strida? do the upgrades make a big difference? Thanks
Hey! Nice video! I am seriously considering buying one. What is your experience with the steering? One get use to it? And, is it possible to ride one-hand? Here (NL) I usually go with an umbrella in one hand while riding, I am wondering how safe is to do it on a Strida...
Hi Camilo. The steering is a bit nervous but you'll get used to it. I'm still riding it, also one handed. But it's better to have both hands on the handlebar. Especially if you have to use the brake. If you get yourself a Strida, you could as well go all in and get a Nubrella. Google it :-)
Well, it was a nice attempt. You didn't let us see you really ride the thing. Yes, there are a few seconds, but nothing allowing us to get a good sense of the device and how the rider interacts with it. The final statement was good, but again, we barely got a chance to see the vehicle in operation.
I'm not sure what exactly you were looking for but you can clearly see me riding it at the beginning and over the bridge but yeah, I'm not driving some kind of parcour to show you the handling, that's true.
Unfortunately, I'm in a densely populated area of midtown Manhattan where there is no safe area nearby to practice low-speed maneuvers. I am also a senior citizen, so it is entirely possible that my balance and coordination are not up to the challenges of the Strida. The bike does fold wonderfully, however...
Sorry for the late reply and I have no clue what the Strida Metropolis is. I just know that the SX models have 18 inch wheels whereas the other models have 16 inch wheels.
Unfortunately this reviewer barely touches on the Strida's Achilles heel -- the low-speed handling. It's abysmal. Terrifying on a crowded city street. I tried the Strida once and sent it back to the manufacturer for a refund immediately.
I totally understand, riding slowly on this thing is a challenge but I got used to it and I loved it! Also the tiny circles one could do with it - just amazing.

Yeah, it takes some practice but I always loved, when I could do it in a single, flowing movement.
Twelve years on, this is still a pretty solid review. 👌 Not sure why I haven’t seen these bikes before… why aren’t they more popular?
...maybe because it looks a bit ridiculous 🤣
A really great bike for the city: shopping, commuting, having fun, a take-it-with-you bike.
Best review ever, especially when you show it actually being used in real life situation aka taking it into the train station, no one ever does that, but yet it is critical to its functionality.
I take my bike to the train station every time I ride the train! It's more common than you think.
Thanks! Happy you liked it.
@@gkls1743 He meant no one ever does that in reviews of folding bikes, not irl.

Me too I love this bike.
You can of course mount another, more comfortable saddle.
Nice review. Thanks for the tip about greasing the hinge and ordering extra tubes.
You're welcome. I'm glad I could help.
Very good review. Thanks very much.
I own an Oyama East Village bicycle, but I've also been a long term fan of Strida.
Thanks!
I am amazed! too bad I think we don't have that kind of bike in my country.
here are all distributors: www.strida.com/distributor/distributor-worldwide/
The fact that it has belt drive is a huge plus point for me
Nice bike. Only thing I have against Stridas is the price.

Its amazing, wish could afford!
I had one. Never regretted

Awesome video ... nice effort. I really like the way it was presented. Thanks!
Thanks Michael!

Hello,

Must see
Commute from Chelsea market to Grand Central Terminal on a STRIDA bike, Manhatten, NYC

SX all the way, the bigger wheels make a big difference I think.
One of the great all time bike designs, Saunders thinking outside the box. I thought they had ceased production!
www.strida.com/ is still up and running, looks like they are still being produced.

One handed is possible but I wouldn't recommend it. It's super shaky and wobbly because of the triangle geometry.

yeah, it's probably not the safest bike for senior citizens
the site for the lights 'knog dot com slash au' just goes to a linkfarm.
what's up with the HTC clothing? is it a sponsor?
I worked for HTC back then
@Gasher74 Thanks! :)
which city - very nice!
Basel, Switzerland. :-)
i never seen a HTC jacket in my life until now
I was a merchandiser for HTC, that's why
Oh great! Thanks for answering!
It would be nice if you can let me know when their website will be launched...
Thanks
www.strida.com or what website are you talking about? I forgot after 8 years, sorry 😂
Awesome
Thanks :-)
no problem :-) you're welcome
Tnx! What is the difference between Strida SX and Strida Metropolis (if is there any)?
Sorry for the late reply and I have no clue what the Strida Metropolis is. I just know that the SX models have 18 inch wheels whereas the other models have 16 inch wheels.
where can I buy a STRIDA bike in Canada ?
stridacanada.ca/
What bag is at 3:38?
Re "aluminium" - you were correct the first time according to British English. "Aluminum" is the US version.
thanks Mark Armitage

Good review guy's :)
Thanks :-)
Music is too loud!
Radzh Kapoor and the microphone is too low. So we have a secret subwoofer test whenever he is not speaking...
andrednz lol
Radzh Kapoor sorry for the poor audio mix, I hope the message still came across.
Yes, very annoying
Nice review, unfortunately the bike doesnt seem to perform as well.
It depends on what you consider "perform" means. I thought it was perfect for daily commuting by train.
Nice but simply too pricey for a single speed barebone bike with odd 18" wheels.
Yeah, I wish it was more affordable too!
well yeah, I'm a fan :-) but still, I paid the regular price.
This is not strida bike! This is chineese analog of Strida. In analog straight steering.
You mean a copy? I doubt it but who knows.
Hahaha... haglöfs. Vart hittade du cykeln?
online on strida.com I think

in terms of speed - yes, it's not a racing bike - but still, I'm faster then the average cyclist, even with just one gear.
that's not tiny.
compared to what? It fits under most 2+2 seats in public transport so that's pretty tiny :-)
more of a commercial than a review.
yeah, I'm a biased fan, that's true
Interesting bike, but...no. Still bulky, no gears.
How do you mean bulky? And you can get it with a two gear Schlumpf drive (I have never tried it).
blablabla.
So is what you're saying that I wasn't on point? I try harder for you next time.
This "Bike" is so wrong in so many ways.... just no!
Oliver Reiprich it worked really well for me :-) looks pretty strange though, I admit. It's not for every one for sure.
