    Great review of a great product - thanks. I bought one of these ay Q as well, very happy with it. Initially I was questioning the soot as well, but it does indeed wipe off very easily., I haven't brought my propane firepit on a trip in years because of how much room it takes. This is so compact that I don't have to even think about having extra room for it. Very nice thick gauge materiel all around.

    I ordered one after seeing the vendor on the Quartzite videos. It's a great unit. Very well made with thick stainless. And it definitely puts out the heat. I mostly got it for it's compactness and price. Money well spent! I'll have to keep an eye on the next hose version. Nice review.

    Thanks for this review. I bought one. It is awesome and works as advertised. Puts out a LOT of heat but the legs don't heat up. Cools to the touch after 20 minutes and the soot easily wipes off without having to scrub. Super compact to store.

      I find it’s more for fun and an attention getter. It puts out heat as well but something with rocks will heat a little better.
      I have used it several times and all depends on the situation

    I saw this at the Adventure Van Expo in San Juan Capistrano. Beats the Lava box in the 3 most important categories 1) heat output peripherally not just up 2)footprint, I can stash this anywhere in my van 3) price. Looking forward to smores this summer while camping with the fire ban.

    Wow perfect for small RV. any idea of the burn rate/ burn time? with medium to low flame hoe long would a tank last?
    thanks for the great review!

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It all depends. Every fire pit is the same. If you are putting out 10k btu the. Each fire pit will burn the same.
      So essentially it all depends on how high you turn it up.
      But for a average for fire pits is they last about 11-12 hrs on low and 7-8 on high for a 20lb tank
      Now this regulator goes really high so if you wanna have fun blast it… but that might last 2 -3 hrs lol

  • @AngLy
    @AngLy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Can you do a time test...since this is compact...I am curious how long it last with a compact 5lb propane tank (I think it holds 1lb of propane). THANK YOU!

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s pretty hard to do a time test without some kind of a flow meter because all propane units are the same if they’re flowing the same amount of propane so whether it’s a big unit or a small unit if they’re flowing a certain amount per hour, they all end up the same. So if you turn it on high, obviously it’s gonna burn right through it because this has a high flow rate regulator so when using it only use what you need, but that 1 pound of propane is not gonna last long.

    No Way! Campfires are about ambiance, It's bad enough that burning wood is getting more difficult but at least a gas fire pit looks somewhat like a campfire. this contraption just looks like an industrial torch that sprung a few leaks. Also, you can cook on most fire pits but trying to cook with this thing would be a disaster. And for those of you who are going to say "I Bought it because it's light weight" .. You'll be carrying at least one extra 20lb or 30lb tank if you plan on using it for more than a few hours because at just half flow its going to eat up a 20lb tank in approx. 3hrs. I'm all about useful innovations but this thing missed the mark. But that's just me, all you fans go get one and I'll bet it will soon became a sweater rack.

    It's nice that it's made in the United States, but I would like to see someone make an electric fake wood-burning fire pit..

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea I love USA start ups!! But not sure what you mean, an electric wood burning outdoor fire pit? They make several but of course those are really all indoor type.

      Huh?

  • @GATORADDAM
    @GATORADDAM 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I think it is poorly engineered.
    The legs could be "hinged" like the small pocket stoves instead of tetter totter loose legs. It could have an air intake for better combustion that would eliminate a lot of the soot.
    So no, Although the idea is cool I'm not spending money on a badly designed shade tree product.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I guess the air intake would have to be low just under the plate. It’s built pretty tough I think, I just folded the legs together and dropped it back in the bag. So didn’t really disassemble it. Maybe version 2 hinged if they do another. I used it quite a bit just chillin at the Q and enjoyed it. Even had a couple people come check it out. But like anything there is always room for improvement.

      Looks like some gimmick you would buy and then lose in the back of your garage.
      Also remember that Biden doesn't want you to use propane or NG even though 98% of all people on this planet use propane to cook their food. Well maybe not some of the people in Africa.😅 9:22

    • @TripodTorch
      @TripodTorch 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand your concerns and want to assure you that every aspect of Tripod Torch's design is very intentional.
      We specifically opted for sturdy, detachable legs instead of hinges to avoid any possibility of failure or breakage. If a hinge were to break, the whole thing would be toast. If you drive over it and bend a leg, either bend it back or simply replace the one leg. We're minimalists at heart and want our gear to be simple and last forever.
      Regarding the soot, we tested various air mixer valves and found that without one, we achieved the iconic yellow/orange campfire flame that we all love compared to staring at a blue stove-top type flame. While there is soot, as shown in the video, it cleans up easily.
      Hopefully you get to see a Tripod Torch in action someday; you may actually like it. We had so many at our recent RV show come by and say how strange and weird it was, only to think about it and come back the next day to buy one. It's the most compact campfire on the market, throws heat to your seat, will last a lifetime and is made in the USA!

    • @UnitedElectric
      @UnitedElectric 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You want a "dirty" flame with these. Efficient blue flames are not desirable for fake fires.
