      @@icecold6118I believe you have a solid upper register but I don’t believe that at 7th grade you can play it consistently with a good sound and with good healthy technique, I personally also had a very strong upper register in middle school but i had poor technique and had to spend MONTHS undoing the bad habits I built. Range isn’t everything on trumpet, focus on technique and tone, and with time range will come.

    10:21 this is absolutely true, I’m a junior in high school who went from playing high D above the staff to double D in 3-4 months. I bought the lynn Nicholson x piece and had to change my whole embouchure to get any sound out, but once I could play high notes on that mouthpiece I could play high notes on any regarding the size.

    Hey! 7th grade trumpeter here. I take my craft very seriously, but the highest note that I can CONSISTENTLY hit is the A above the staff. I've been involved with my school's jazz band & pep band, as well as all-county, yet I can't hit higher notes then the A. I've always had a slightly higher range then my peers, but I wanted to hit HIGH notes - I mean like, the D or E above the staff. For a while, it was but a dream... until I found this video. This helped a lot and gave me some more stuff to practice. Thanks for the video!

    Correct. Well done sir. Bell Angle is probably lip wiggle--you're blowing "up". Doesn't matter whether you blow up or down--it's a circle there is no up or down. But you have to blow into one of the cup walls.... Well maybe not have to. It helps.

    • @davidsolis4257

      Yeah. Wiggle your bottom lip on the lip trill. Just barely. Where it feels like its barely moving forward relative to the top lip.

    I believe, as with making the initial sound on trumpet, at some point it just clicks and that's it. Only post-factum we are trying to science-fy of how we achieved it.

    • @maxparrish4718
      @maxparrish4718  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      That was my experience initially, but after I lost the initial “click” I spent every day for months re-discovering it and was aware of most variables throughout. I hate to science-fy brass instruments but it was necessary for me personally

    I related with that really clenching to get that C but it was for the E but even still those upper notes get me and these are the above staff notes. The highest note I can play consistently is a high B and I’m in 8th grade but I’m still trying to work on getting to that high E but I’m trying to work on that consistently. Oh yeah and btw gold plated mouth pieces are amazing for trumpet because it’s so light and it’s a little softer and that’s what I’m using unless it’s actually bad so let me know if that’s bad for higher

    Hey max I was just wondering, when did you get your lead lotus mouthpiece. Middle, Highschool, or later. Also I'm on a Bach 3c and I am looking at getting a lotus mouthpiece for trumpet ensemble and other performances , which one do you recommend for me? Thanks, love the content.

    • @isaacmadrigal8083

      honestly, i am wondering the same, and i also run a 3c, but ive tried some other brands, and i would say bach is one of the best, dont get me wrong, lotus is good, but run bach for now. unless you planning on lead trumpet, try lotus 1xl2 or the schilke 15c. both really good, but try leaning a little more towards lotus for lead trumpet.

    I sure hope this helps me out, ive been playing for about 4 years and im in my highschool jazz band and im starting to struggle with the higher notes im having to play because I just keep getting lightheaded and killing the sound (this is all over a simple G above stave) where as my friend plays a whole octave higher before getting problems (hes been playing 4 years too), my tutor says what im doing is like trying to push a trolley (shopping cart) and trying to pull it closer at the same time all the tension just kills the sound and I need to just imagine like im blowing into a straw with no tension or anything blocking the air flow, this tends to help until I actually try play a phrase :[
    maybe its just a skill issue
