RIP Brian Glover, loved him in this just as much as I did in the gasman episode of “Bottom”. He was a wrestler in real life just like in this series.
Back when TV was quality and the storylines for almost everything alongside the writing was fantastic. These days there is good stuff on, but you have to look through the rubbish to get to the good. 1994 for me was the Golden Age for ITV shows and this one was well and truly the best one. I just do not know why ITV didn’t go further with it, let alone make a DVD release, so thanks even more so for uploading all of these!.

Thanks for this, spent last few days watching all these episodes, although 25 years old, they hold up well.

Thoroughly enjoyed this series. Apparently, Anna Lee was cancelled after 6 episodes (including the pilot) because of the contractual arrangement with author, Liza Cody, that no episodes could be produced unless they were based on her books. She was so disappointed with the TV series that she stopped writing Anna Lee novels. So the TV series died. A pity.

It's a real shame they canned this series. Interesting storylines and good solid acting. Thank you for uploading 😎🖒

I think Imogen wanted to concentrate on her theatre work at the time. She was married to Trevor Nunn the theatre director.

Imogen is a breath of fresh air and Anna Lee was so good. I saw one or two episodes on PBS mystery in the 90s and have been searching for vhs tapes or dvds ever since. These eps are obviously transfers from vhs and the sound/visuals are mostly there and not bad at all for transfers from vhs. It's easy to see why this series did not last. Prime Suspect had introduced the gritty crime drama and Anna Lee was more like Miss Marple on roller skates. The writing was really not up to snuff, not compared to stuff like prime suspect, but Imogen was so damn good looking and bubbly and smart and vulnerable that I really don't care about the deficiencies. The liza cody books are much more well written than the drivel of these scripts. Alas poor Imogen, from the first time I saw her on screen I was thinking she was going to be a star. She still looks lovely by the way, but I haven't seen her in anything in years. I'm so pleased to have seen these again before some arsehole lawyer gets them taken down, and thanks to daisy for putting them up.

I'd totally forgotten about Luciana. She was so mega-beautiful!!! I bought her CD just because of this show. Wonder what happened to her??? Hopefully she had a good career in the UK at least.

(From IMBD) She and Donna Air used to sing together as a group called Crush: they released a single Jellyhead and an album Teenage Kicks in 1997.
As Luciana, she now sings in a group called Portobella with Adam Evans (guitar), Simon Merry (drums) and Mark Ferguson (bass).

@@Horse237 Thanks for the info....'Crush' doesn't appear on Luciana's Wiki page so I had no idea! I'm guessing that Luciana wasn't an original member of Crush but replaced Jayni at some point?

Luciana was indeed beautiful...she went on to have some success in the UK - most notably in 2006 when she got to number 2 in the charts featuring on 'Bodyrox - yeah yeah.' This is an awesome track and has Luciana in the video!

So, is that it for this series...episode 5, part 2.. and they called it quits?
It was a short-lived but fun series. I am positive that it would have had many followers/viewers, had it not been cancelled. But, I gather that there were many more, faster paced shows waiting to take its place on the tele.

Sharon S. ...Then, you were very lucky that is was 99.999% blocked out, due to copyright issues...weren't you?
Well worth a ''thumbs up'' for the uploader, Daisy Snow & a sub!
P.S. Or, did Meg Ryan wear clothes like Anna Lee? Maybe Anna just had her own style...

lynda renaud More likely it was Meg Ryan who copied Anna Lee's character's Bohemian+Grunge+Vintage look.

Why did they end this show?

    • @azerethroth5761
      @azerethroth5761 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+Marina Roseman Because the Author didn't want to continue with her Anna Lee novel series, So any more episodes they would write, Credit and money would have to go to the author..... -,-

M.C. Beaton didn't like the actors in Hamish Macbeth or Agatha Raisin either so I'm grateful those contracts were written better bc those are great shows too. If a show is exactly like the books & has to stick to those plots & can't adjust characters for the screen we wouldn't support both. We'd already know the plots & sometimes what works on paper doesn't translate to screen, or, well the screen Agatha is just a much better person, more likable, & screen Hamish is smarter & more likable too. Any writer has to expect revisions. It's a shame when they get snippy. & Most writers do seek input. It's not all about us, it's written for others, actually or there'd be no income from it & no point in putting it out either. It's bc Liza Cody complained about adjustments for screen that she quit writing these, books included.
