V was fun and really lived up to the original vision of Cardfight Vanguard itself until they introduced the II Markers... i mean, i main Narukami, specifically Thunder Break and Vanquisher, and even i can't be mad when they banned Fullbronto cause holy shit, the bullying is real, and it turned the game from "CARD-FIGHT" to "CARD-ONE-SIDED-BEATDOWN" lol

We now have a format that the community can regulate outside of Bushiroad. I can see it now, community ban and restriction lists, maybe even community erratas. We could even incorporate ride decks im those community tournament.

Even now, I still think V card design made decks feel different from one another compared to Standard. V made decks actually feel like they had their own identity. YESSSSS THIS WAS WHAT I TALKED ABOUT WITH SOME CUMMUNITIES BEFORE ZERO CLOSED IT SHOULD HAVE MAKE V INSTEAD OR MAKE A NEW VANGUARD V FORMAT GAME ACCESABLE AND FREE IN PHONES
I technically started with V . Primary Melody was my first set . My buddy already liked Vanguard and loved the Colorful Pastorale anime, so I said I'd open the set too , but he'd essentially tell me what to buy for my deck . Waifu bait (mermaid idols) worked. Had a crappy Melody deck mainly using Serena and Fina since we purposely made my deck different (read worse), but it did eventually lead us finding 2 more players at a small convention . Even with our currently still small group, I've come to love the game and have between at least 20-30 decks with all formats. Lots of Lyrical /Bermuda Decks. I'm planning to build V-duo . I've never played in tournaments beyond standard ones, which has only been recently, since being dropped at bigger events really doesn't affect me much
At the end of V and the start of D, I had a theory that V was just stalling to prepare for D to come out. I loved V though cuz it was the format I started in. Good memories RIP V
V helped me really get back into vanguard, and despite the horrible powercreep I'll still remember the good ol days of me having no money and trying to pass buy with a bunch of rares, commons, and a single Cocytus to fight with. Plus, the format's given me some of the most memorable moments and fun decks I've ever had the pleasure of playing. You will be missed, V, may you finally rest in peace
Spike Bros V was still a great time for me. Also probably the best mechanics to flavor when Deadheat Bullspike came out to pass force markers like a football
My best memory with V is this- it introduced me to two absolutely amazing friends of mine who I don't know where I would be without them. I may not really play V that often anymore as I turned my musketeer deck into a premium format one I still have 1 V deck in Nebula Lord Dragon
I actually enjoy V more than premium, mainly because my small group doesn't play premium at all. I still have the cards to play premium. It was a fun time overall despite the crazy power creep and the decks aren't completely useless, just have to add some og goodies/ d stuff and I have a premium deck ready for play.
I started playing VG when Glendios was released in V. V was the first format I entered. Little did I know they would never rls any other sets after that. Unlucky
V Existing is what got me to be able get a bunch of my friends to start playing vanguard, because of it, restarting In a new era and releasing new cards
When Luard got released for V Premium and being able to spam out like 10 force markers in one circle that was a good time. Dragonic Overlord The X being able to win when going first, awesome times.
I started vanguard with the original g era then went back to the older cards because of the anime. Then life happened and I lost interest in vanguard for a while but then the v-standard at the time brought me back to this game and while I don’t have any local card shops near me I still really appreciate the v format for brining me back to this great game so this will be very missed as is vanguard zero
V-Premium was the first format that I really started playing Vanguard playing Pale Moon Beast Tamer and found my favorite clan Bermuda Triangle a little before V playing Duo Bermuda. I really like the format and sad it's dying/dead 😢
I remeber when V first released. It was my introduction to vanguard, and what really sold me was ren suzugamori and shadow paladins. Made me fall in love with vanguard . It was fun at the beginning but slowly card design and balance was a turn off for me till overdress
a moment of silence for all the decks I was interested in when I got into the game. Aka most of the budget BT decks that got no direct support after twinkle melody. V was how I got into the game following Vanguard Zero during the pandemic, so it has a place in my heart, but I am having a lot of fun for the most part in standard! I don't think I could ever look back!
talking about the ending of v-premium, even us in Italy have experencied the death of the italian format as of today, so i guess we hope a proper reintroduction of vanguard here with standard and premium, mostly because the english cards are difficult to get here
I started the game with Ezel so I missed out on playing the OG Royals like Alfred and Gancelot but still loved them because of the anime. I got somewhat of a chance with Liberator, but the start of V Era was such a hype period of my life simply due to how much I liked the old characters and units. Reflecting on it later down the line, V was all kind of messed up from the power levels to the markers etc etc, but I enjoyed it for what it was, a nostalgia trip and I was happy to go through it (once). Saying that of course as mentioned, D Series even though has its own problems (OT), it feels way better overall as a game and has a lot more staying power for growth and expansion. Not to mention the anime hits a lot harder too which really helps the brand.
V was definitely fun towards the end, but man were those first 2.5 years rough. It just feels like the main draw is no OTs, and 1 CB cranks like 100k power in terms of value at times. Its definitely a fun break in between P and D when my friends and I just wanted a pallet cleanser. But for the sake of premium in JP, from my understanding Japan usually just moves on as new things come out. Very rarely are old things supported or even looked at, because its old things that companies would have to invest man power and dev time into them, whereas they could just be allocating resources to the new thing. But I just feel like thats really crappy to your legacy players. Personally I've been playing vanguard since 2012 and I would like for my cards to remain playable and supported from time to time. Unless they unify the game to just premium again, I think its ridiculous to expect a bunch of product releases for premium when OD is the primary format. However I would like a reprint set and a supplementary set every year to keep the game fresh (and a ban list would also be nice, instead of playing the same format for a year).
Vanguard V was the best format ever created it was balanced, fun and had a healthy meta rest in piece you beautiful format I will still be playing you with my friends
8:19 I wish they did a Premium OverDress Collection; it would be the perfect chance to bring the energy market to premium and support standard decks so they are more playable.
2018 through 2020 were really the darkest times for me as almost all players here stopped playing immediately on the reboot announcement, including trying to sell all their cards even. Legit a self fulfilled catastrophe by ourselves. It (very) slowly recovered and I did have some moments of fun with V, Zanbaku and Luard vs Angerblader (yes, I loved this). But it is hard to think positively when gifts have probably made it really hard to design for premium forever lol. I think premium is in a more than ok spot right now but I also agree that banning OT and adding energy would immediately rejuvenate the format.
I'm gonna miss it. V was the format I came back into the game with and grew to really like it. Sadly, I saw the writing on the wall with standard, so this doesn't surprise me. That being said, as much as I cherish my memories of Vanguard as a whole, I don't like standards feel and can't get people to try premium, so it's kinda the end of the road.
V is incredibly fun i despised vanguard in G era, i thought it was one of the worst tcgs in print by far. After starting in D i now wish i had tried again during V
V holds a special in my heart cause it acted as a weird proxy nostalgia cause I was pretty much a TD Andy up till V cause of no income, then when V happened I had income so I could play the cards I wanted to play back in the day that I couldn't and when I got tired of the nostalgia Shinemon happened and the unique playstyles of the original units were wonderful. Sadly couldn't keep my interest in other when they announced the reboot as it became a format that would only get updated like once a year. Interesting enough V's lasting legacy for me is that G is the death of Vanguard, which didn't help when Zero died after G and the stride deck sets doing what they have been doing to D.
I will always love V mainly because it bwas the first format I was able to do tournaments with and it gave us my avatar Hanzo, I really hope he comes to D sometime
As an OG Spike and Great Nature player, V leave a really bad taste in my mouth, i have so much fun with those clan back in G being a really fun, technical, and rewarding clan to master. Then V happen , they retcon em from scratch and give us whatever the hell is that force passing and Gacha Nature. I feel like im forcing myself to play the game.
If it wasn't for V series, I might've quit Vanguard after the G era with how harmful stride was becoming for the game. V felt refreshing to me by moving away from the Stride mechanic and embracing the Imaginary Gift system and it was fun because it felt like we were back to the roots of Vanguard but with higher numbers. With V not as prominent now, I fear that Premium may suffer the same fate at a later time due to its overreliance on V for support along with D making more Energy-based and ride deck-based support which are practically unusable in Premium. Without any new products (And I mean actual new cards. Not reprints or erratas), it'll only be a matter of time.
A very noisy player actually got my vanguard locals to switch to V premium entirely from standard last year. They showed up for about 2 weeks of that and then never again. Shortly after, shop started alternating weeks but could never get enough people for V premium so like 3 months later it was back to normal every week. This guy hasn’t been back once since lol
I feel bad for V dying. I qualified for V Worlds last year, but I wasn't able to go, now I will never get a chance to ever play V in Worlds ever again haha
I REALLY loved the V clan collections. It felt like they fixed all the problems that V had (besides Steam Maidens hehe). The new decks that came from the V clan collections were creative, fun, and some powerful enough to keep up with the end of V level of power creep. I do wish JP would do more Premium tournaments. The way I see it is that we don’t get much Premium product because it doesn’t sell well in JP. It doesn’t sell well in JP because the format isn’t popular. The format isn’t popular because they don’t have enough tournament support for it. So in theory, doing more tournaments for it would fix all that. Either that, or give the global side exclusive premium product.
Energy wise they could put the energy generator text on to the d starters. but either way having energy in premium would let you use a bunch of the newer stuff that would otherwise be usless.
I used to play during the time of Asia Circuit with borrowed decks from my cousins - I always went Royals and it was the weakest deck out of all their decks, but I didn't care. V is the first deck I ended up owning myself back in 2020
V-Premium was a lot of hype for me as it was a way for me to get back into the game after all of the second half of G really burnt me out and the fact that I was much more lacking in purchasing power back in the day. I eventually landed myself a Brufas deck which I had a lot of fun with for a while and I felt myself enjoying it a lot again but I did somewhat miss the premium stuff I gave up after I quit the game briefly. I still haven't gotten back into the game physically in D format as I'm more conservative in spending money on hobbies currently but I do plan on doing so eventually, just when my interest is on the up again.
8:41 For Premium i think it'll be even better if we got exclusive Energy Generator we can use on Premium and V format exclusively or like get a new V starter which creates Energy Generator instead of quickshield
V Premium has technically been dead for a couple years. Once they stopped releasing support for it, it was dead. I will surely miss it though because it was still fun and competitive and was my favorite format.
It's okay. Me and my Friends saw the writing on the walls but we didn't care. Why? BEcause we started working on a custom format that was most comfortable for all of us which we coined as the Chris Format lol.
I loved what V did for tachi it gave me some of my best g2s and g1s but didn’t enjoy it for a while im glad it’s a side event for people who love the format
I think Bushiroad should just rip the band aid off and put the ride deck on premium. Would it be a nightmare for some cases? yes, but it'd also make every D product a must for premium players.
I came in with v Premium and i loved the people i met and the games i played but it felt like whenever new product came out i had to buy a whole new deck every time
While I have a lot of good memories with V, I also lost a lot of my friends to this format because of broken cards, broken collabs like Ragnarok and EC19, and so many unfair decks but hopefully I can bring them back with OverDress that just started in Thailand.
3 Weeks late, but I should say that energy generator is a mechanic that could be harmful to premium by design. They created the mechanic to have control over the things they release in standard. If a card skill could break premium the could just put the energy requirement to avoid it.
I was introduced during V, fell in love with Granblue and Nightrose, and although it's not quite a Nightrose unit Dragon Undead, Skull Dragon is my boy. I tried playing V more but it felt too much like League of Legends for Cardfight. Sure, you can have a cool thing but it was toxic primarily because of the Imaginary Gifts certain clans got. I often found myself in the situation of, "Oh, you have another PG? Well I have 8 attackers on the front row," or something like that. I won't she'd tears if they shut down the tourneys completely, or it gets fully absorbed into Premium, but it's not lost on me that people prefer it. I just disagree that it should have lasted in EN for as long as it did.
Rip V premium one of my most favourite format since I got my V aqua force Glory Maelstrom deck and now its gone now so I hope that Glory Maelstrom makes a comeback too D standard after the 2nd season or the 3rd season of Divinez anime and especially the card revealed of Divinez set 4 and set 5 or Divinez set 7 or set 8 so the filler set might happen for Glory Maelstrom for neither DZ booster set 6 or DZ booster set 9 from next year of filler set
3 years of V drama - best funny topic was on V-Luard meta. imagine we can revert our time back not to spend any single penny on V for 3 years - use that money to D-era instead.. vg today will be on different level. GIVE ME BACK MA 3 YEARS V-MONEY BUSHI XD
I wish our community didnt die. They had a following for D. I left in earlier stages of D format but apparently a year and a half after my departure, it got to a point where one player started becoming inaufferable to be around and it didnt matter where they would go to play the game. This player would follow them. The TO who told me all this legit was on vacation with his wife and when they would come back they would prepare more tournements for the community. The insufferable player kept harassing them on socials over tournament dates that in the end the guy gave up on the game pretty much. Its just sad to see that one player ruined it for a community of about 20-25 people.
I’ve only ever played standard but I do look at V and premium w/ interest. My main cardfight buddy doesn’t want too try either of the formats because he’s convinced there way too complicated compared to standard
honestly, as much as i hate V, i cant deny its impact and how it got me and my friends back into playing vanguard and got me back into competitive tcgs as a whole. without v, i dont think ill be playing vanguard today because standard was just something different to me (at the time, there were no encounters for standard) and it felt good playing with units i was familiar with.
seeing him go from defending OTs even when other people since day 1 called them shit to now saying OT should be banned in premium is wild. the world is fixing itself
Rest in peace V-Premium, I always wanted to get into it somehow thanks to VGZero despite the glaring flaws. But now with my slowly growing disdain towards D format card design feeling more bland and generic than what I experienced in Zero (pre and post G format) I still want to play V-Premium/Premium in at least a video game in some fashion because I personally do not like how D format plays safe with their current card design. Not to say that there isn't some very fun exceptions to this (Zorga, Unica, Welstra and a lot of brandt gate ridelines) but it doesn't feel nearly as cool as the clan keywords or things like treasure markers and the astral plane or Blade Wings for me.
I think also the reason why V Premium is dying, Is because their really no good way to started playing it for casual fan, The Premium decksets I are ridiculously expensive, and I don't think a casual player would spend that much money on a deck. And not really any new card and support for can hurt the format. I think what Bushiroad should do is, first make much more affordable decks so standard player can try it out without breaking the bank for a deck, They should do Cardfight Vanguard equivalent to a structure deck for new card and old, like let's say a cheap new Blaster Blade liberator but their another new deck that has brand new cards that's we never seen before.
From where I'm from, we haven't caught up with the rest of the worlds; we are just approaching the end of V format and is just starting the D format. For me personally, I enjoyed V format a lot because of how aggressive every decks feel. I like how I don't rely too much on luck, rather on critical thinking to win games. As for D, we are currently at D-BT01 so I can't say much about the format. But to be perfectly honest, as of right now I don't really enjoy it that much. It's a bit too luck reliant at the moment. Persona Ride is powerful, but you can only perform it if you draw into it; and honestly, I prefer riding into different G3 units suited for different situations more. OT is cheesy and kinda a lame way to win games. And none of the starter decks clicked with me. Oh, and, I don't really like the art direction they are going for with Brandt Gate man. I can only hope what people have been saying are true, that the D format is the best Vanguard has ever been. Perhaps in the future I might find a deck that I like.

V for me was solid until they started allowing accel 2 to be spawned multiple times in the same turn.

Man i was just thinking about my V scharhrot deck and how i wanted to take it out of storage.
I feel that... time to pack up my boi Spectral Duke....
I guess I will pack up my Deletors.
Now we need Vanguard V Zero
Goddammit bushiroad give me back zero
@@masterace9543Those were the good old days for me. Got me through some tough times.
glad to see I'm not the only one missing Zero
YESSSSS THIS WAS WHAT I TALKED ABOUT WITH SOME CUMMUNITIES BEFORE ZERO CLOSED IT SHOULD HAVE MAKE V INSTEAD OR MAKE A NEW VANGUARD V FORMAT GAME ACCESABLE AND FREE IN PHONES
I loved playing zero, but as a poor gamer, it just became really hard to build any new decks cause they split the tickets between each sets
There goes my Max Rarity Leopald Reverse deck price.
It's... not a theory, they literally created that bizarre "Vanguard IF" just to prolonged the V format just a bit longer.
adding energy to premium opens the door so much in deck building. would love to see it so we can maybe build around DZ bosses
Card design of the later sets aside, V Premium was peak game design for Vanguard. I will really miss it, or at least, what it used to be.
Facts, spikes were fun to play....then when nova came out, it was over, gaining both markers to literally bully your opponent
Yeah V Spikes Bros was peak. They honestly should make a deck with similar gameplay and make them the rivals to the Diabolos or something.
My best memory with V is this- it introduced me to two absolutely amazing friends of mine who I don't know where I would be without them. I may not really play V that often anymore as I turned my musketeer deck into a premium format one I still have 1 V deck in Nebula Lord Dragon
Making lifetime friends is by far the best part of the hobby, glad to hear your story!
Unlucky
I personally like the v series that was the vanguard series that got me into vanguard
Rip V. I loved so many of the cards that came out
I remeber when V first released. It was my introduction to vanguard, and what really sold me was ren suzugamori and shadow paladins. Made me fall in love with vanguard . It was fun at the beginning but slowly card design and balance was a turn off for me till overdress
V format had imaginary gifts, those were awesome
Feel too sad for no more v series tournament
1st time getting the top at V series tournament in Malaysia
At least you have a fond memory to look back on 🥲
@@masterace9543 Ya but no more event on v series
a moment of silence for all the decks I was interested in when I got into the game. Aka most of the budget BT decks that got no direct support after twinkle melody. V was how I got into the game following Vanguard Zero during the pandemic, so it has a place in my heart, but I am having a lot of fun for the most part in standard! I don't think I could ever look back!
talking about the ending of v-premium, even us in Italy have experencied the death of the italian format as of today, so i guess we hope a proper reintroduction of vanguard here with standard and premium, mostly because the english cards are difficult to get here
Rip to the Unreleased card for v that we wished, may you be remembered for your playstyle in the og days "INSERTS BAKA MITAI"
Tbh as someone just getting into the game still I wanna try out V Premium I dont think ill be able to though -;
Pick up a cheap deck and join one of the side events, they’ll be going on until next March!
Ive been out of vanguard for a while but dang im sad that v premium is ending well im gonna miss playing uranus.
Pulling svr mordred was awesome to in the v series
I'm sad about Minerva not in V😢😢
8:19 I wish they did a Premium OverDress Collection; it would be the perfect chance to bring the energy market to premium and support standard decks so they are more playable.
They should release premium support cards that are playable in v. Keep both formats going with new support yearly would’ve be nice.
So long V-premium. Ain’t know one gonna miss ya 😂😂
Man I need to buy more of the Stride cards asap
(doing Kratos Impression): BUSHIROAD! Give me a Cowboy Dragon Deck! and my Wallet is yours!
Still the best format, with most unfair treatment by players.
I really miss getting stuff for my clans.
Interesting enough V's lasting legacy for me is that G is the death of Vanguard, which didn't help when Zero died after G and the stride deck sets doing what they have been doing to D.
nooooo rip v format and my fav card lostlegend , gone but not forgotten .
Despite all of the problems it is such a cool format. Love you V-premium and will always keep my Link Joker decks. o7
Was it really too much to ask for a sendoff set with Gyze and the Zeroths?
V is the first deck I ended up owning myself back in 2020
I'll be missing playing with my Blademaster Souen deck😢....my very first deck of the V format
I wish that they finish chronojet deck but I love v premium
Tbh V was a format that did amazing for 2 formats. It’s own and Prem.
Until D can synergize better w/ Prem… Prem dying is a matte of time
3 years of V drama - best funny topic was on V-Luard meta.
imagine we can revert our time back not to spend any single penny on V for 3 years - use that money to D-era instead.. vg today will be on different level.
RIP V, may this give the chance for more premium support
honestly, as much as i hate V, i cant deny its impact and how it got me and my friends back into playing vanguard and got me back into competitive tcgs as a whole. without v, i dont think ill be playing vanguard today because standard was just something different to me (at the time, there were no encounters for standard) and it felt good playing with units i was familiar with.
I was buying in to v premium because it was cheap, and now it’s gonna be even cheaper which is nice
Wait... You are suggesting that the energy generator is put on P and remove the OT from P? :O
seeing him go from defending OTs even when other people since day 1 called them shit to now saying OT should be banned in premium is wild. the world is fixing itself
th-cam.com/video/DuwrBB3RNXw/w-d-xo.html
I'll miss V Premium, but I hate that it had to end with Kagero as the worst clan. They deserve better than the support they got in Clan Collection.
Just when Link joker made its return, im very sad as a Link joker Only player
Im still gonna continue fixing my chronojet deck for premium
sorry for late i hope my Altmile is back for D-standard
Premium should just introduce the ride deck
