You can check out the free demo for yourself over here if you wanna play it, or wait for the release sometime in 2025? That's what they said at least. store.steampowered.com/app/3170150/Cairn_Demo/
The dedication to the simulation in Cairn is really nice, and I hope that they're able to maintain quality and diversity of interesting rock formations over the course of a full game, even if it ends up only being 6-8 hours. In any case, the demo is extremely promising and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with such a laser focus on this loop.
Two small corrections: - game picks the limb that supports least weight - you can pick the limb manually, there is an option in settings for this but it's silly that controls for it are disabled by default. I guess after dinner time when you understand how game picks the limb it's more fluent and easy to use auto limb son they don't want people to take manual option but learn instead
1:02 try four hours (I spent quite a bit of time doing the advanced walls in the Climbing Room); game will log it at about 2:49:53 Can't believe there are others out there hyped for this as much as I am--and hey, maybe this gets those same people to look back and check out Haven (also by the Bakers) for a run or two
Also a rockclimber, and it definitely scratches that itch that rock climbing does. The "figuring out the puzzle" aspect of it is right there and super fun.
You can go into the settings and add a manual limb control, but it could be better. New Heights realistic climbing sim actually lets you move limb by limb with the triggers.
@@yogaza2 I've enjoyed it a lot, though it still needs some polish. I'm glad you're interested! It actually has some of the missing features other's mentioned from Cairn, such as grip indicators and the like.
Like, climbing barefoot and with a huge backpack? Not all that practical or sensible (for lack of a better word?). I will say I did enjoy Steep though, and the route-setting reminds me a lot of that.
This game looks and is amazing. I have started rock climbing in the last year and this game brings it to my other hobby, videogames. Great video as well by the way
ive been watching the youtuber Andraz Egart recently that does mountaineering with slight climbing/rappeling, but its also the nice view, the small aesthetic bevouac that gives comfort after hiking/climbing all day... thats why i searched for specifically this type of gameplay... i found ur video and i think Cairn is the closest to this...(i know there is Climber Sky is the limit but god that is like Far Cry 3/4/5 of climbing, it tells me exactly where to put my hands)
It would be a LOT nicer without all those sperging out physics... Looks like the Avowed clips I've seen where their clothes just go wild in cutscenes lol

I just completed the demo and the mechanisms just blew my mind! Glad to see the devs are trying something out of the box! Hope it releases soon 😅 GG!

It actually asks you which version you want at the beginning of the game.
Looks like me trying to climb with the legs shaking lol😅

They made Furi too?! LOVED the hell out of that game, the mood, the music, the gameplay, solid 10/10.
I hope the character shouts like Adam Ondra and Chris Sharma when they are trying hard or falling off 😁

New Heights looks so good! Thanks for bringing it up!

This is going to be hard to play if you climb in real life, knowing how climbing mechanics work, but it does look neat, and has huge potential!

@@yogaza2 Maybe during playthrough you will be unlocking La Sportiva climbing shoes, crack gloves, knee pads?

I just happen to finished the demo on Steam a couple of hours ago and i find it very interesting too. The grahics looks simple but still beautiful

Climbing is the new farming
Furi was majectic. Looking forward another game by the same devs. 🧡💛🧡
there is a manual limb selection implemented, have to be turned on from the settings.
Just press the up button and go!
I put this game on my wishlist about a month ago.
I am so glad you spoke about this one. I was going to give it a pass, but it really looks quite solid
Aesthetic reminds me of Dustborn. But this looks like an actual game
2:35 Lol funny you say say that since that's what most people will immediately compare it to
Love this game
Loving this demo. Died a few times :D
