I'm trying to pay attention to the gamemode, weapon order, etc. But I keep getting distracted by just how amazing this map looks. Hopefully this is a sign of what's to come now that the maps aren't being rushed to meet an early release deadline
There's some interesting changes made to the mode here from it's MCC counterpart. Melees aiding in progression is a huge improvement. In Halo, melees are designed to be mixed into the combat, so it sucked in the MCC version when melee kills basically did nothing. It made progressing with certain weapons a huge pain in the ass. Idk how to feel about the lack of a progression timer though. I guess it's something I'd have to play for myself to see if I was good with that change or not. Backsmacks don't bring you down a level, and there's no more plasma grenades either. Another change I'm not sure how to feel about. It was annoying in the original to be brought down a level, but that was the point, and it was funny to do it to other people, so idk. It does make the mode seem a bit more tame though. The weapon order is a bit odd. Kinda weird to call it Escalation Slayer when the weapons are all deescalating in power, but whatever. Finally, it's weird how the kill feed will say that you progressed the weapon level for your team, but it doesn't do anything outside of increasing your team's score. Like, I kinda expected that to mean that your team would all progress in weapons if just one team member got a kill. It would make the team version of this mode actually feel like a team game, unlike the MCC version and this version currently, where teamwork doesn't actually seem to matter much, because everyone is off doing their own thing. It'll be interesting to see if any of this stuff changes by the time the final version gets put into the game officially.
Oddball as last one was definitely now what I was expecting lmao
