      @@ThatBoatGuy you are such an inspiration buddy I really admire the time, care and effort you put into your work, your a real craftsman sir. I have a 5 year old son and he LOVES the water like me and being we live in Tampa/Brandon area we have all different types of water ways.... as I'm sure you know... that being said I got me and him a 1996 Yamaha 1100cc wave venture, took it out twice and now I have to either clean or rebuild the carbs due to poor throttle response and cutting out when I try Togo full speed.. I've never worked on a wave runner before like you with the airboat, and it wasn't until I started getting hooked on your videos that I started realizing you were giving me motivation and inspiration to do the carburetors myself instead of paying someone BUT!!! You want to know the greatest thing out of all --- it's that I also realized that it will be some of the best bonding time with my boy and I would never have thought of doing all this and some great father son bonding. I want to thank you so much bud, your doing more than just posting videos of you and your work, you are actually touching some people/ families in ways you probably didn't think about. Lil man aka my "son", had a nasty cancerous tumor that almost took his life when he was just 1. Only 1 in 4 million are the chances of getting the type of cancer he did. Hes good though and been healthy and hospital free living life like a 5 year old boy should be This is why all this and you and your videos and the kindness you have that so many people lack these days is just OUTSTANDING!!!! Keep your wood prop level when not in use. Otherwise the moisture will gather to one side and it will cause a vibration.

  • @MrJgem12345
    @MrJgem12345 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    you should always use self-etching primers to avoid paint/epoxy/coatings flaking off later on down the line. aluminum oxidizes as soon as it touches oxygen, which is exactly what you're trying to avoid as aluminum oxide is brittle and doesn't adhere well. Also, aircraft paint remover would be a great chemical stripped for future projects of this kind. brush on, rinse/scrape off kind of thing.

    Great episode. I particularly liked your pursuit of the Steelflex coat removal. Rather than push a bad process, you keep trying new methods...I like that approach. I think it's going to look great...black and polished aluminium is a great choice👍

  • @cjcj7314
    @cjcj7314 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    the biggest reason people flip the boats on the bottom is they dump the steelflex and let it level itself it’s a self leveling product, polished aluminum relfects in sun and blinds you during riding i know from experience and also gets very hot but the dangerous part is how slippery i recommend putting strips of carpet also, black steelflex can get hot depending on where you ride whenever you do ride please no deep water when you first start you will sink or flip 100 percent if you dont know what you’re doing

  • @Do-UR-Research2749
    @Do-UR-Research2749 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Steelflex is great bottom protection on an airboat if you're not running teflon bottom sheet.
    However you didnt apply enough steelflex to your bottom. I know it's not cheap stuff but it needs alot more applications.

    aeroshelll w100 will turn black. That is normal. However, it usually takes about 15 hours of operation for it to start turning. If it gets black very quickly, you may have blow-by into the crankcase from the cylinders which indicates worn rings. There is a leakage tester for aircraft engines that applies 80 PSI of shop air through the spark plug hole into the cylinder via an adapter that fits the hole. YOU MUST HAVE SOMEONE HOLD THE PROP VERY TIGHT OR IT WILL SPIN AND COULD START. MAKE SURE THAT THE MAG IS OFF! People have been killed by just moving the prop of an aircraft engine. They are not like auto engines. Anyway. Once pressure is applied to a jug, you can listen carefully at the intake, then the exhaust and then the oil fill for air leaking by. If you hear it in the intake, you have a bad intake valve on that cylinder, if you hear it in the exhaust you have a bad exhaust valve. If you hear it through the oil filler, air is leaking past the rings and you will have blow by. You should easily be able to get the manual for that engine. They are simple and dependable but dangerous if you don't know what to watch out for. Doc
