From a story standpoint, living in Krakoa opens up so many potential stories for the X-Men than the X-Mansion ever did. Having all mutants living together is a great way to keep stories fresh and new.
My first X-Men comic was the X-Men Special Edition that reprinted Giant Size X-Men #1. So Krakoa was the first X-Men villain I ever experienced. Such an incredible story of a unique character. My suggestion for a future video is the Alpha Flight member SASQUATCH. As always, MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!!
I had no idea Krakoa's history was so twisted and complicated. Thanks for unraveling this story (as well as so many other "History of..." videos you've done). Your work is very much appreciated!
Finally. Monsters like Krakoa always get overlooked and are usually way more important than given credit for. All because they aren't pretty or flashy. It's a shame
It was actually explained by Cipher that Xavier and other Psychics can’t actually understand Krakoa’s thoughts because it is speaking a foreign language. This is interesting because Krakoan later became the lingua franca of mutantdom- possibly implying some innate benefit to the language that future mutants understood when contributing to the creation of what would become Krakoa
Good grief this is convoluted. What a confusing era. A space traveling island. An island that walks. An island that has no limit to being able to teleport mutants. An island that spawns miracle pharmaceuticals. An island that resurrects mutants.
honestly, everything you said was far less convoluted than the origin in this. i legit had to stop and back it up a few times to make sense of some things
Who could believe that Nick Fury is the first human to come to Krakoa and that island let him and the rest of the howling commandos go if they kept it's existence a secret?
Can you do history of the Beyonder, Crossfire, Living Laser, Iron Monger, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Ultimo, Darkhawk, Union Jack, Psycho-Man, the Badoon and the Broods?
Having to stop at around 26:00 because that's as far as I've gotten in the comics so far, but I had no idea that the Krakoa location / saga went so far back! Thanks for putting this together
I absolutely enjoyed and appreciated this video. It had some great information about Krakoa that has been recently introduced to us through the Krakoa Age of the X-Men comics, as well as some information that I, myself never really knew. Anyways, thank you so much for this wonderful and awesome video. I also do apologize for the tardiness of this comment, but I forgot to check the new posting last night, before going to turning in for the night.
Can you do history of the A-Force, U-Foes, Excalibur team, the Ultimates team, Starjammers, Alpha Flight, the Annihilators, the Invaders, the Squadron Supreme, Doom Maidens, the Midnight_Sons, Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, Masters of Evil, the Thunderbolts and the Champions?
I’m glad I saw this video, Krakoa has so much history and I haven’t read a comic book in years. I’m going to have to rewatch this to absorb the information.. it was a lot to digest.
Nice video. I'm surprised there hasn't been an interaction between Man-Thing and Krakoa. The monster definitely should have detected Krakoa's presence, especially with all the Krakoan spawns all around. It'd be interesting to have him go about "collecting" all these spawns to either save the world or somehow contain Krakoa. It would also be interesting if Krakoa had some connection to the Nexus of All Realities, which could explain more of the island's abilities to create portals.
How did Professor Charles Xavier make Krakoa more prosperous with the help of Cypher, Sage, Beast, Warlock(Technarch) and Black Tom Cassidy? How is it the best place for all Mutants?
How was Krakoa formed exactly with Shadowcat going back in time to place the element of Mysterium on the island and all the nuclear tests that the island underwent?
no you see, Kitty went back in time with the dna of the Genoshians that were genocided to create the birthing sea. which made a place of the original mutants and humans long before humans and mutants developed. Krakoa was born there as an original mutant named Grove. then Grove substained enough damage to his body for it to regrow as full vegetation and wood. he then decides to call himself an anagram of Krakoa (Okkara) and later on grew into an island then for some reason demons cut through into our existence (which also cuts the island Okkara in half, creating Krakoa and Arakko) and Apocalypse just like pushes Arakko into the cut portal thing (which for some reason seals it) then ig Krakoa takes a "restless sleep" (lol) and gets nuked, supposedly waking it up
I'm not sure if this a hot take but I hope that the MCU reboot doesn't begin at the Hickman run, that idea kinda goes against Professor X as a character. If Xavier's whole goal was wanting humans and mutants getting along, why does he rule a society where mutants live in secret this whole time (which is ripping off the Inhumans), that's why I hate the idea of Xavier using his power to gut out humanity's memories of mutantkind and that justifying mutants not being mentioned at all for many years.
Hoping that you do a video going over some of the characters like Blackheart after the Marvel vs Capcom fighting collection comes out because I never knew he was a marvel character.
Can you do origin of the Grim Reaper, Quicksilver, Devondra, Sentry, Mr Immortal, Captain Universe, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Blizzard, Starhawk, Flerken, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, Ronan the Accuser, Ego the Living Planet, the Living Tribunal and Palibok the Power Skrull along with Avenger-X and the Protector?
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
Wasn’t the mutant signature part of the story the whole time? It would’ve driven me crazy if they never explained that. Edit: To clarify, I highly doubt nuking a random island would give it the X-gene
@@Joseph_Drew_III IIRC, when Krakoa debuted, it was at the time of when mutants were born from the Atomic Age with no x-genes or other later retcons, so his original origin made sense.

These new writers are destroying canon and just making up things based on what’s being pushed at that time. The MCU should be a learning lesson to them or the growing manga.
Krakoan era X-men along with Avengers BC has turned all of Marvel continuity into nonsensical and unconnected gibberish. Really have to consider post Secret Wars (2015) a separate universe.
Too much time travel, too many Omega leveled entities in Marvel anymore. Too many universe destroyers/creators/interdimensional players. Worst of all, the ressurectors. When death means you can still be just somewhere else. Daredevil (superhero) vs Kingpin or vs Peter Parker after an Enchantress encounter. Not Satan and Christ reborn again and again and again.
Omega leveled mutants are just the example. Think about all the omnipotent beings, with the capability to destroy entire universes or realities. What does it matter if blank is dead we.can clone/rebuild/ressurect, go to a parallel, search the pocket dimensions and find our hero or heroine again. Where does it go once the living tribunal is bested? Just create an elder race to the elder race that has been waiting for 16 millennia for the time of Doraga to rise in a secret galaxy placed between 14thousand ancient time/space portals, some never tried or tested due to the ancient evils associated within. Meh, Galan should have all of us for lunch. In essence as Mr Johnson said, weak writing, writing themselves into corners, writing without foresight...goodbye golden age of comics forever.
No offense, I got to 2:20 and I'm out. It's the current Marvel continuity, not the video's quality. Whoever is writing this crap is high as hell off their own farts.
The Howling Commandos on Krakoa incident could make for a nice MCU horror movie. Something like a blend of Annihilation and Blair Witch.
id watch it
I was always curious about Krakoa's origin, and I knew it would be crazy, but I wasn't prepared for it to be that crazy. lol.

They don't live in secret. There is nothing about Krakoa that doesn't fit into Xavier's ideals.
I don’t think it will. A mutant nation on Krakoa would be an awesome thing to build up to after several films though.

Why, oh why didn't they make it the real villain during Hickman's era
