He met my gran after landing at Rosyth dockyard on his way back from fighting in the second world war. Moved to Scotland and made a life with her here. I have lots of English family and friends. Still sing the song though at games though.

At the time of the beginning of the Acts of Union, it was hailed as a 'Union of Equals', where two economically and politically autonomous nations would work together.
It has been grossly undermined by the English half of that bargain and they have been the rulers, completely going against what the Union was supposed to be about. That is bullshit, the people in Scotland have a sovereign devolved parliament, our own laws, our own constitution and our people are sovereign. The 'UK' has no written constitution! The majority of people born in Scotland (ie Scots) voted for independence in 2014.
The vote went the other way because of people born elsewhere in the UK, largely England, but living in Scotland, and voted to stay in the union.
