  • Taiga is new classical music composed by Ilari Hylkilä.

In this recording Tapiola Sinfonietta (dir.Janne Nisonen) performs my new classical piece Taiga. I wrote Taiga for Olari Gymnastics Association (OVO) that needed new music for its grand gala show. The grand gala took place in Espoo Metro Arena (Finland) in December 2016.
OVO’s head coach Anneli Laine-Näätänen wanted the music to be associated with Finnish nature. She also wanted melancholic beginning, some bird singing and ending music expressing flying. You might hear these things by listening Taiga. Some drama was also on the wishlist and I came up with an idea to write storm to the third phase of Taiga.
Taiga was recorded in Espoo Cultural Cente in the autumn of 2016. The piece was recorded and mixed by Janne Siniketo.
When I wrote Taiga I had some places, incidents and images on my mind. I chose illustration to this TH-cam video partly based on the visions that I had on my mind when I was composing. However, some of the pictures I chose in order to tell little stories - and in order to show the life in Taiga.
Taiga is a biome also known as boreal forest or snow forest. It covers most of Finland, Sweden, much of Norway, some areas of Iceland, much of Russia and areas of northern Kazakhstan, northern Mongolia, and northern Japan, most of inland Canada and Alaska as well as parts of the northern continental United States
In this video you will see animals living in taiga like swan, black grouse, bear, blue tit and pheasant. You also might hear singing of loon as an imitation produced by oboe.
I want to thank for their contribution Olari Gymnastics Association OVO, Anneli Laine-Näätänen, Kaisa Vikkula, great musicians and other workers of Tapiola Sinfonietta, Janne Nisonen, Janne Siniketo and photographers among others Hannu Rämä, Teemu Tretjakov, Sergey Aleshin, Maarja Kotkas, Joona Kotilainen, Erik Mandre and Arez Metta.
