Thanks alot. I bought the 9950x with 64gb of 6000mts ram, 7900xtx on the asus rog strix x870E-E motherboard. I was concerned about ram issues but i see youve made it work so im going to follow you exactly
Thank you! 👍 I noticed a solid 20% boost in raw CPU performance going from 7950X3D to the 9950X, based on Cinebench final scores with PBO from 38000 to 45000. That’s a pretty decent improvement! I highly recommend enabling PBO, as it can give you an extra 10% boost on top of that hope they make more optimizations to improve gaming performance as well
@@TECHOSAUR thanks for extra recommendations! And special thanks for all your handheld consoles tuning videos with memory timings and other useful stuff!
Glad to help, good combo! Please share your final curve shaper points. It could be interesting to see what others are experiencing. Just to confirm that I have my max ones on -13 as said before in the video. -12 or -13 are stable for me. Currently, I have it on -13 and it's fine. Going beyond that seems to cause freezing
I sure will. I am not exactly sure I completely understand the curve shaping but going to start with some of your settings as a baseline and go from there. Just curious, are you on the latest beta bios now or latest official bios?
I was able to set my shaper to -30 low/-25 med/-20 high. Cin R23 getting 44500 score. Avg 5.2-5.6 across ccd’s on the cores. Temps are still up there but average went down. I can get a higher score with more but liking the lower temp average. Seems I did get a good chip. Thank you again!
Very useful guide. Thanks! BTW, I though that Curve Shaper is supposed to be used in conjuction with PBO. Skatterbencher says in his Curve Shaper guide (on his website) that it stacks on top of the Curve optimizer.
Yes, a curve shaper is used in conjunction with PBO, but I don’t find it logical to use a curve shaper and optimizer at the same time. Think about it, it will mess up your settings. I mean, setting the curve shaper correctly and stably will provide the same higher frequency you see on the curve optimizer. They are doing the same thing but in different ways, and the curve shaper actually does it better as you don’t need to worry about the per-core guessing game; you have min, low, med, high, and max and usually low states can take a good knock in curve. I mean getting all -20 in high and -13 on max gave me that 10% perf, higher then this will cause instability, at least it’s stable all the time.
Ofc, AMD explicitly said to reinstall Windows after installing this new CPU, even if you have updated the BIOS and chipset driver, anyway I always do, it just makes windows smoother
@@TECHOSAUR i guess my cpu has a problem because it doesn't work for me anymore. it used to work before but suddenly it disappeared and I have tried everything
@TECHOSAUR i tried almost everything. Toggling fTPM on/off in BIOS, re-seating the CPU, clear CMOS, re-flashing BIOS, fresh Windows installation. It just doesn't get detected in Windows. I also get a message "No Security Devices Found" under "Trusted Computing". Firmware TPM Switch is already set to "Enable Firmware TPM". I even tried flashing all bios versions one by one and clear CMOS for each. No luck
In 29 to 30C room temp, My 9950x Idle Temps are 52 to 60C, Is it normal on default setting in Bios, Only using A-XMP 6000mHz profile. Using with thermaltake Ultra V2 360mm AIO, MSI tomahawk x670e wifi, RTX 4080 Super and 32 GB 16*2 6000mHz DDR5 Ram.
It's somewhat normal. My 9950x is at 49°C, with a room temperature of around 25°C. There's always about a 12-14 degree delta. But under load, like gaming, it's around 60-70, depending on the game and settings. I also have a 360mm AIO cooler. Check if the pump is running at max speed. I usually keep it this way
@@TECHOSAUR In cinebench R24 my temps is constant 96C in Multi Core testing, not one degree up or down, Using your PBO setting with Curve opt. -30 and the M.C Score are 2386 and S.C Score are 141. But when I did a stress test in AIDA64 or OCCT for 30 minutes, the temperature remains 86C to 88C degree. But in Cinebench r24 multi core testing the temperature remains constant at 96.
@@maedonald4663 No, Curve Shaper is exclusive to Ryzen 9000, but it acts similar to Curve Optimizer, its just a different way like being able to control curve based on CPU frequency state instead of one for all, I it looks easier to setup and its stable with the settings I've shown so far, it's a good addition to PBO and gives around 10% of performance uplift at really low efforts
