android controllers have definitely come a long way since they first came out especially software wise. thanks for testing them all for us, appreciate it.
It's because Nintendo REALLY doesn't like it when people even remotely hint that their games are being run on an emulator, even in fair use scenarios where the ROMs have been dumped by the user themselves from their own legitimate hardware. And considering the scope of this channel, sadly showing any footage of their games is going to butt heads with them.
Thanks for writting this review, I ALMOST sent mine back until I realized I didn't set it up right. To ALL, make sure to use the Android and X button to sync this thing( assuming an Android phone of course)
This honestly seems like an awesome controller for the money, although the one thing I REALLY dislike is that it blocks both the charging and headphone ports on your phone. It would have been great if this had USB-C connectivity with an extra charging and headphone port.
Just got this controller 2 days ago and the controller is really really great! It's important to not cheap out tho there are some copycats around there that sell it cheaper tho, and those have terrible analog sticks. Thanks for the recommendation :DD
Have you been able to program the View & Edit buttons in the bottom right corner to be Select & Start? I'm not able to change that in the app and I don't want to program the shoulder buttons to be those either.
I just got mine this monday, it was the 7007F but no problems there, I was testing with everything from emulators to nvidia game stream with moonlight it works flawlessly, build quality could improve but for $25usd that I paid for it I couldn't be happier. Analog sticks are identical to the ones on Nintendo Switch and buttons if they are not great they are ok.
And Ali Express got better this time mine was not send from China but from Sweden instead which was faster. The gamepad has compatibility with iOS and Android, but has 2 modes for it, one to play kind of touch based games and one on xinput similar to an xbox one controller connected via bluetooth which I also used, but i needed something portable and the form factor is amazing, I couldn't recomend it more. Great gamepad, better that the ipega one that I bought some years ago.
I had to return three purchases because they kept sending the 7007F, which had horrible latency issues. I eventually just purchased the overpriced GLAP controller.
Thanks for the video. I would love to see a video series on your preferred emulators/cores on Windows/Android and why you feel like they are better than the alternatives...as well as recommended settings.
How's the deadzone on the analog sticks? I've tried some android controllers in the past and there's a huge deadzone. If these were taken from the switch then should be just fine
I would really wanted to know, If im going to buy a Joystick, I needs to play Goldeneye 007 N64, this games need a VERY PRECISE SENSITIVITY to play correctly
I bought the 7007f from aliexpress for ~23 bucks when you posted your first video that wasn't liked very much by big n :P The controller is awesome and just works with anything :D
You do know drift is super easy to replace on the joycons right? The whole drift situation is honestly overblown since there's a good chance of getting pretty early drift from most joysticks. I fucking kid you not, my ps4 controller, which I used overall less than my switch joycons started drifting sooner on both sticks. And compared to opening a joycon controller and switching out a new stick for around a couple dollars, opening a ps4 controller is an absolute nightmare. It's pretty hard not to dent a part of the plastic opening that sucker up. If that telescopic controller is modular like the switch it'll make me feel better since replacing them is easy and plentiful. Unlike again, a regular analog module which is soldered onto the board. Which basically means that it better be the sensory wheel that's the problem or you'll have to solder on a new analog module yourself, and even changing the sensory wheel is a fucking pain in the ass because denting the prongs on the little suckers will continue to make the controller drift.
Hey ETA prime just wanted to point out that if you use the app macrodroid you can set the system to automatically force your preferred rotation upon connection with your Bluetooth controller. No need for rotation control app, no need to do it manually at all from then on.
nice video man! Question: do you have a video or a post where you list your favorite emulators for android per console, paid or not paid? I would like to get them all. Thank you.
Hey Prime, thanks for all your vids. One thing if you could try keep in mind with these controllers is could you mention how well they work as portrait controllers? For DS emulation. No one seems to cover that ever.

I think the f version is an updated x versión. For those who are having troubles, you have to set the gamepad to X-input mode. With the controller turned off press the Android button and the x button for like 5 seconds and then the HID red led will light up and you are in X-input mode. This controller definitely has the best form factor out of all the telescopic controllers I've tried. The only thing is you have to be careful when you order it because sometimes instead of the 7007X, they will send people the 7007F which doesn't have native xinput and requires Octopus in order to map the buttons in emulators and other apps.
Please do a deadzone test for the analog sticks. See if you can do a small circle with all the controllers that you have. I find this information as a deal breaker for shooter games or that involve camera control.
Thanks for the awesome review! Do you know if this controller will work with the newly updated PS4 Remote Play app, that was recently opened up to include devices other than Sony devices?
sorry my bad english but you made a video testing the gamepad doing "hadoken" on marvel vs capcom.... your video is the best so far. Now i thinking buy this controler. like!
this has got to be the best controller for the best price imo i believe i tried it because of the first video you posted i got it for the fold 2 and now use it on my ulefone note 11p which emulates everything and also does cloud gaming only thing i would like on this is analog triggers
i think the controller that is very close to the switch is the betop h2 controller...it comes with a case that lets you play on handheld and desk top mode, it also has a grip just like the switch
How's the analog sticks on your controller do with diagonals? I've seen Reddit posts online that state that while you can position it diagonally, it can't detect diagonal movement. As in if you're trying to draw a circle with the sticks, it will be detected as if you're drawing a square. Can you download a gamepad tester app and see how your analog sticks behave? Here's the Reddit posts in question: www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOnAndroid/comments/appe0t/telescopicstretch_controller_joystick_deadzone/ www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOnAndroid/comments/9jus8c/anybody_used_the_saitake_7007x_for_emulation/?
Bought this controller, tried it on 2 different android phones, p20 pro and oneplus 7 pro. Both instances the controller had an input delay of around 150ms due to the bluetooth connection. This is not acceptable and you will feel this alot when you play. It's a pity that this wasn't raised in the review.
ETA I have a question about this product. Do you know what the different between x model and f model? I seen some seller sell STK-7007f model but I can't find info what the different between them. Cheers!
I know this video is a few months old, but what do you think of the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ for mobile gaming? How would you compare the two? Which do you prefer?
Hi, this saitake controller is compatible with steam link? I want to buy one but steam link compatibility is very important for me at this moment. Thanks
Love your videos, own about as much a collection of controllers as you (I think trying them out is more fun than playing games these days) except for the Saitake, it's on order now. I also own a GPD XD+, a device i think, you have looked at but in the end your own phone will always be better so I like the controller option. I do like the mapping software of the GPD actually.
Thank You for this video!!!! Wanted a GeForce NOW - Xcloud dedicated device. Got the CoolPad Legacy on Valentine’s Day sale at Boost Mobile for $67 and the Stk 7007F1. Works great on both! Perfect advice 👍👌
When you bought your Boost Mobile phone... did you have to root it? some people say you cant access wifi with the Boost mobile phone once you accept their terms of service. I would only intend to use the phone for gaming but I still want wifi access.
@@JetSetBaroni No, I did not root. Just boot up and Google account. That was a year ago. Not sure if they changed it. I never had service on mine, so never agreed to anything. I did put mine on Airplane mode and then turn on WiFi and Bluetooth again. That way it stop telling me I had no service. I still use mine daily one year in (xCloud, GeforceNOW, SteamLink) and I need Wi-Fi because I only use it for cloud gaming.
If you see on the back of the box it says up to 160mm which is like 6.3 inches. So I'd have to say it's too small for your tablet. The iPega 9083s can do the job for you and even go past that if you ever needed it to
Since it is for using it underway the speaker and the usb port doesnt matter. just dont use speakers in a train or subway. and after a 2hrs ride i have no problem to charge my phone at work or at home. and for those who still even have an headphone jack ... maybe its time to move to some bluetooth ones. you can get them in any price range from 15 to 300 bucks and they just work fine. also with anc or aptX ... its more than acceptable for a mobile solution.
Ya I does block off the usb c port and headphone Jack if you have one that is(galaxy did away with them on my note 10)but simple solution is invest in a pair of bluetooth ear buds and you can listen to your phone through them while using the controller.
I wanna repeat one of the unanswered questions here: Is is possible to use any kind of headset/plugs with this? I guess both bluetooth gets taken and 3,5mm jack is blocked, so no sound on planes and buses?
I don't even understand the thinking. "Lets make a controller for gaming on a phone. Block the charge port and headphone jack as a bonus!" Like bro.... What true gamer isn't going to charge while they play... How are you to listen to this, when playing on a plane? Seems every single one of these type of controllers is bone headed in design. Xbox controller it is, makes much more damn sense....
Imo the biggest problem with the XBO controller is that it still lacks gyroscope features. We've seen how well gyro aiming CAN work in shooter games, but devs need to take the dive and implement them and slowly pull back on aim assist features.
I'm sorry for saying this, but my experience with this controller hasn't been the same as ETA's. Well mine's a STK-7007F1, which I bought from an Aliexpress seller (China). I remember back in August 2019 I was playing Dead Effect 2 on my LG phone and then after less than half an hour with this controller, the R2 shoulder button literally broke off. And it isn't like I was having a blast with this thing prior to that. Modern Combat 4, most of the inputs work, but the right stick wouldn't do anything, rendering this controller useless to play that game. I was frustrated at that point. Even Ravensword: Shadowlands had partial controller support, it never worked in Terraria, Samurai II: Vengeance, sports games and air combat games. And EVEN IF IT WORKED, the form factor for this controller is AWFUL. The face buttons are made of hard plastic. Do you know what those buttons have in common with the D-pad and the shoulder buttons? They are all clicky. And I don't mean they aren't a little discrete, I mean they are SUPER LOUD. And those shoulder buttons are so sensitive, I get the feeling every time I press the one that still remains on this controller, it's going to break off just like the other one. And forget about upgrading firmware or even downloading "support apps" for this piece of sh** controller. You're pretty much on your own with this thing and you'll be lucky if you still have them around, with no parts falling off of it. In other words, avoid this controller like the plague. You've been warned. I only wish 8BitDo would take this controller as an inspiration of the right layout to go with. I'd purchase a telescopic controller from them if they sold one.
Hello ETA, which of all your android controllers charge via USB C? I find that the manufacturers rarely put that detail in their sales descriptions and most of them use Micro B. So I figured asking you would be the easiest :). I know IPEGA 9167 use USB C.
@ETA Prime, could you do a video explaining the issue with Android 10 being required for PS4 Remote Play? I'm curious if it has anything to do with what you said @1:13 about the difference in D-input mode vs X-input mode. Why would the DS4 work with Android games, but not Remote Play? Is X-input mode much more common?
the links you list don't seem to be the saitake. are they the same controller under diff manufacturer name? also, does this work with phones in cases, like the thick otter box defender or does the phone have to be removed from the case?
Alot more android boxes are coming out stronger than ever, with 4 to 6gb ram, 64gb to 128gb storage, just purchased one but will not say name because I am not associated with no company, did download truck apps, racing apps, airplane simulator apps and the quality and speeds it can handle are amazing, I have multiple usb inputs, bluetooth. Not sure if controllers work with all apps, some apps I loaded did not have options for controllers that I noticed, but will check later in more detail to see if some have it. need to know if there are controllers available for android boxes and which ones are the best?
When do you think Microsoft is going to make a split controller, if they are really going to stream to your phone then they might as well come up with a controller option as good as the Xbox controller with no drawbacks.
As always, very well explained. Thanks a lot for your videos. Always interesting and fun to watch. I'm getting the Saitake 7007x for my broken Android Phone. Btw. you can get the Saitake for 25$ on AliExpress.
Ok, it's good for hadoukens. But which one of the android controllers is the best for shoryukens? I can perform hadoukens even in my ipega 9017, but shoryukens not so much. As a reference, although it's not portable, I love the snes classic joystick in that regard, i get shoryukens flawlessly every time. Is there a portable joystick as good or better in fighting games? The 8bitdo, maybe?
I know this is a old video, but will a Black Shark 3 fit inside this controller. Since the phone is bigger, it's really hard to find good controllers like this.
What 3rd party emulators (also reliable) do most of the people use here? As of right now, I'm using Happy Chick emulator, but I'm also looking for a reliable controller for my Note 10. Thanks in advance for your reply.
great vid man, I had a boundabay fehziwee for the last 3 years that worked out of box and I loved it. I just recently lost the r1 button so it kind of kills playing emulators like the ps2 etc. I despise the controllers that require me to install octopus, shooting plus or that other one I just want it to work out of box. any recommendations for a moto one 5g ace? or this one?
Quick PSA: I ordered one of these because of ETAs review and got the STK-7007F. The home and mode buttons are switched and in order to get it into xinput you need to follow the instructions for HID gamepad mode.
hey theres one gaming phone you didnt mention the blackshark 2 or pro version would you be able to do a video on that the same way you did on the asus rog phone 2 that would be greatly apppreciated

Now i thinking buy this controler. like!
btw you can turn off EasyDrive on asphalt 9 and get full control over the vehicle
Thanks for the heads up!
this has got to be the best controller for the best price imo
i believe i tried it because of the first video you posted
i got it for the fold 2 and now use it on my ulefone note 11p which emulates everything and also does cloud gaming
only thing i would like on this is analog triggers
Since I've discovered this I can wait til December to grab a switch lite LOL
@Shank Adams Christmas
i think the controller that is very close to the switch is the betop h2 controller...it comes with a case that lets you play on handheld and desk top mode, it also has a grip just like the switch
Here's the Reddit posts in question:

I have had the same question I hope that we will get an answer.
doesnt it also have to do with the game and if the game supports diagonal movement?!
base on the reviews that i watch on the other channel yeah it has deadzones
awesome review! thanks for all the info. now i lnow which one to get for the tablet too
Bought this controller, tried it on 2 different android phones, p20 pro and oneplus 7 pro. Both instances the controller had an input delay of around 150ms due to the bluetooth connection. This is not acceptable and you will feel this alot when you play. It's a pity that this wasn't raised in the review.
Thank you. I will not buy this. Could u say what could be best foe codm?where i need swipe screen, turn camera.
How good are the joysticks? I had the red knight controller before and the diagonals were terrible. They were so bad that the D pad worked better
What about disconnect time? Can I have it "always connected" on the phone even if won't use it (for example) more than 5 minutes?
ETA I have a question about this product. Do you know what the different between x model and f model? I seen some seller sell STK-7007f model but I can't find info what the different between them. Cheers!
I know this video is a few months old, but what do you think of the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ for mobile gaming? How would you compare the two? Which do you prefer?
Buy Metal Slug 3 on PlayStore, and play it.
Thanks so much for remade your video after being banned. Very informative video, appreciated it...
Hi, this saitake controller is compatible with steam link? I want to buy one but steam link compatibility is very important for me at this moment. Thanks
Why r u on xcloud.cuz I'm gonna buy a Bluetooth gamepad aswell
Love your videos, own about as much a collection of controllers as you (I think trying them out is more fun than playing games these days) except for the Saitake, it's on order now. I also own a GPD XD+, a device i think, you have looked at but in the end your own phone will always be better so I like the controller option. I do like the mapping software of the GPD actually.
I need to be able to plug my phone in since I play Xcloud for hours. I don't think this will allow that.
omg yes
$20 On aliexpress re branded as 7007F same Item just different distributors!!
@@voteDC I had that controller and it got x input mode. You need to select the third configuration.
This is a valuable infornation. Thanks a bunch!
My mode button is where your home button on the controller and its not flashing all four lights
Hey, could you recommend a controller for the Samung Galaxy S6e
I dont think there is many games that will run good on ur device, maybe consider upgrading to atleast the s7+?
I know no one will see this since the video is so old but I wonder will it fit an 8.8 in tablet
If you see on the back of the box it says up to 160mm which is like 6.3 inches. So I'd have to say it's too small for your tablet. The iPega 9083s can do the job for you and even go past that if you ever needed it to
those telescopic controllers block off the headphone jack :(
USB socket and speaker too.
Xbox controller it is, makes much more damn sense....
gamevice controllers have a usb c out and a 3.5 mm jack out for charging and audio
I bought one too after seeing it in your videos :)
Looks decent except I really don't like d-pads without a center. No idea why those are still a thing.
Since it can operate in xinput mode I would say yes... But because it's an iPhone
.. I would say no
@ETA Prime, could you do a video explaining the issue with Android 10 being required for PS4 Remote Play? I'm curious if it has anything to do with what you said @1:13 about the difference in D-input mode vs X-input mode. Why would the DS4 work with Android games, but not Remote Play? Is X-input mode much more common?
Hey man I wouldn’t say it’s the best but it is really good.
the links you list don't seem to be the saitake. are they the same controller under diff manufacturer name? also, does this work with phones in cases, like the thick otter box defender or does the phone have to be removed from the case?
which x1 controller mount do you prefer?
I think there are mainly 2. one with wheels on the side and one with the metal stand you showed
Thanks because some reason I couldn't connect to my phone correctly. Thanks again bro!
What's the difference between 7007X, 7007S & 7707F >
Think I may have to pick one up...nice video.
I got the 7007f and it works fine but keeps powering off after like 10 minutes or so. Not sure what's wrong.
I know this is a old video, but will a Black Shark 3 fit inside this controller. Since the phone is bigger, it's really hard to find good controllers like this.
What is the best cheap phone mount that I can buy? I have a oneplus 6t and an Xbox one controller
Latency vs the Xbox controller vs wired?
What's the best wired setup? Usb c...
Xbox one controller + clip + smartphone, is it heavy? how many grams? is it still comfortable to play for a long time?
i wonder which controller got usb type-c charging and have L3 and R3 buttons.
How are the bumpers and triggers though? I don't think they are even near the quality of an XBOX One controller?
How does the Xbox one controller compare to the new SN30 Pro+ for Android?? Both support X input..
What 3rd party emulators (also reliable) do most of the people use here? As of right now, I'm using Happy Chick emulator, but I'm also looking for a reliable controller for my Note 10. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Any controllers you recommend for the Galaxy J3 Emerge?
Isn't there a little late with the xbox controllers as opposed to the usb plug ins tho?
With the 7007x mounted to your phone, is there a way to mirror your gaming to a smart tv at the same time?
great vid man, I had a boundabay fehziwee for the last 3 years that worked out of box and I loved it.
The home and mode buttons are switched and in order to get it into xinput you need to follow the instructions for HID gamepad mode.
i recently got one also but the right anolog and x and y buttons wont work for cod mobile
Just a quick question. How has the game gamesir held up? I prefer a dualshock layout over offset joysticks.
hey theres one gaming phone you didnt mention the blackshark 2 or pro version
would you be able to do a video on that the same way you did on the asus rog phone 2
that would be greatly apppreciated
The best and the Cheapest! Great video thanks
I have a Saitake 7002fi or stk-7002fi, and my phone is note 3, can't get it to work. Is xinput only on newer androids, are our old ones screwed?
Buttons are soft and confortable or clicky and horrible? How it's feels against the Xbox one?
This is the only telescopic controller I could find that supports Android below 6.0. Is there ANY chance that my old Nexus 7 would fit in this?
Do you still think the 7007x is the best android telescopic now in May 2021? I am looking to buy one but checking if you've used something better in the past year plus. Thanks.
nowday we have better alternatives like Gamesir X2 and Razer Kishi?
Great review! Any idea if this controller will work the Geforce Now android app? I have the Beboncool version of this controller but do not have an Android device to test with the GeforceNow app.
