I am personally split between this and a CT4 V Blackwing. Market is softening all the time on the used cars. Much like you, I currently have a 6th Gen ZL1 that one of these would be replacing. I love it, but it’s just too much for the street and I rarely drive it. If you truly love the Type S that much, I would get another Type S and start over again. Or maybe you can get Acura to buy it back?
Same, my issues have all been external, people running into it and what not. I originally planned on trading it as usual, but I changed my mind entirely. If you are having an issue with yours I'd trade for another of the same. The Civic type r is not more comfortable through. That's 100% false. If you are going to move to something else, the BMW M2 Comp, GR Supra, and Blackwing are probably the best similar cars
You mentioned the seats were not comfy on long drives, mind me asking if you have any back issues? What was bothering you with the ITS seats? I have low back issues and a couple hours in the Type R, I felt okay and i LOVED the seat. but it definitely wasn't a long drive... I haven't had a chance to drive the Type S for more than a 20 min test drive to tell if it'll be supportive enough for me. And sorry about your father... :(
I appreciate you. The seats in the Type R are fantastic. I see a chiropractor bi weekly for routine maintenance on my upper back. The seats are ok for long trips. They are just really firm on the bottom and lack lateral bolstering of a sport sedan. I wish the padding on the bottom was a little more cushy.
Caddi reliability has been...not great. Classic NSX comes to mind if you want a straight up drivers car that is simple, reliable and fantastic looking. It won't be practical and finding one for you might be a chore, but damn it's a legend.
@QueTheChaotic me too. I saw a first gen for the first time in years a few months back. There's no flex, there's no peacocking, it's just pure driving pleasure done right, and it brings me back to an era in cars that is fascinating to me.
You realize this Acura is made in the U.S.? That explains a few things. Regarding your side mirror, Volvo replaced the driver's seat of my V60 (just the part you sit on, not the entire seat) at around 20,000 km cause of premature fading. It happened again at around 79,000 km just prior to the factory warranty expiration and Volvo replaced it again free of charge. Premium brands are supposed to come with premium service!

Hey Que, Sorry for your recent loss.. You’re one of the reasons I bought my ITS but I understand the drama you went through with Acura.. Keep up the great content!!!🙏🏽👍🏾👊🏾💯
@@QueTheChaotic and honestly man if engine issues(I just saw ur wrx is the replacement) is why you went to Subaru then I hope you have better luck but they got their issues too (GR86/BRZ oil pressure, rtv).
Sorry for your loss. Here's my take going from a CT4V BW to the DE5. The BW is a phenomenal car. Only draw backs are the engine note is not great nor is it revvy, there are some awkward angles from the rear, and you will feel the weight in the turns. However the BW is a better built car imo and the transmission is ridiculously good - factory rev match, flat foot shit, launch control, and brake boost ability from a roll - it's just awesome and you can beat on that transmission without worry. Also... Both suspensions are brilliant imo. My DE5 actually grinds gears at high rpm (1-2 shift) and overall the transmission just isn't as good as the tremec. Also, I have a very slight rattle inside the cabin at 2k rpms only and the panel gaps aren't perfect. Overall tho, there is a fun factor with the DE5 that is really hard to beat under 60k, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm planning on hanging on to mine for the fun factor and looks, although it is a tough pill to swallow coming from an ultra reliable LF4 and tremec in the BW. Both awesome cars.
As an owner of a CT4VBW that came from an FK8. It’s definitely the next step if you’re staying manual. I do want to warn you though I was rear ended this year and it took 7 months waiting on GM and Cadillac for a trunk lid. The car is a beast though, I ended up slightly modding it to wake the engine up a bit. I wouldn’t worry about rear seat legroom unless you plan on carting people over 5’9 around. I’m 6’5 and my height is in my legs. That manual is an absolute gem, flat foot shifting is quite fun when getting on it. The downside is likely gas if anything. I just did a road trip and got 25mpg. I plan to eventually daily the BW when my Acura TL Type S eventually dies if ever. Condolences to you and your family 🙏🏾.
@@QueTheChaoticbro that ish was rough waiting. Not going to lie the way the body shop had to go at GM and Caddy for these parts made me want to sell the car. But after 7 months I got it back and driving it brought me back.
I've had my Tiger Eye Pearl ITS for a year now & also picked up a CT4VBW back in April.. the ITS is a great daily & the BW is perfect for traveling and fun rips with more power & smoother ride.
Condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father and I would replace it with a CT5 Blackwing your dad was a GM guy so erase that negative experience and memory of that car with one you know he'd like
Sorry to hear, Que. The build-quality issues and the dealership experience has soured me on the Acura brand moving forward. I won't be buying another Acura after I move on from my ITS, whether it's soon or years down the road. Hope to be in a position to be in a G80 M3 in a few years. Take care man
Thanks for all your videos , I bought my ITS in large part because of you. That situation with your dad sounds horrible, understandable why u feel that way. Regardless I’ll be a fan into the future whatever you do. Thanks again for all the great content
Sorry about your dad! My ITS is great so far, my Acura salesman followed up with me at 6 months just to make sure all is good (Acura of Columbus Ohio). I think your bad experience is 100% due to the dealer, and thst sucks you shouldnt have to drive to a further dealer. If the car doesn't feel right then you have to punt it. There are other great cars and who knows, maybe you will find a Cadillac dealer that will sell the CT4-V blackwing at the price GM says on their website. That was my other pick, the blackwing is becoming a mythical creature at this point with all the markup going on.
I haven't had 1 issue with my TYPE-R 1YR of ownership and 16,xxxmi im keeping mine till the wheels fall off this car is too much fun good luck with yours
Que once you sell it go for the Yellow Integra HRC. Wow Now that’s fire 🔥 I might be trading in my ITS for the HRC. They should of just called it the Integra Type R
If you're okay with an Auto I would consider the Lexus IS 500 F Sport performance. The build qualify of that is night and day better than this Acura. Trust me I owned both of them. That V8 is sweet. And the seats are much more comfortable. Lexus is the reliability king. I swapped it since I prefer manual and the lighter weight of the Integra Type S. But I miss it. Such a nice car. I had zero issues with it.
Sorry to hear about your loss... Regarding ITS - when you sell it at the price you want, have you considered M3 base manual; it's nearly 2x price this but you could probably find a used one in the 60s for the g80 or even less for the previous gen m3. Haven't heard about reliability problems on it and just a nicer ride all around in my opinion.
Damnnnnn Que. Crazy you just posted this. I've been following you ever since you got the ITS as I got mine around the same time. I literally just traded my in yesterday for a 2020 GS 350 F sport. Mica gray with red guts with only 55k miles( just like you i feel like i downgraded as well) but i was experiencing rattles as well. I was looking into GSF but couldn't justify paying ridiculous prices for a low mileage one or move into one with higher milage and or accidents. Also, test drove and almost pulled the trigger on a 2022 IS 500 Launch Edition, but wasn't certified and it was too small for the kids in the back. I'm gonna definitely miss the car but and maybe I'll grab another in a few years when they are in mid 30s or lower. I will say the GS is super comfortable and smooth with a timeless design overall well better built than the ITS. I think you leaning towards the blackwing lol, but go with the best car that suits you. It was tough doing the switch, I was literally in the same boat and stressing about a love one. My condolences for your loss bro! He's in a better place and not dealing with this ugly world anymore. Blessings king!
I appreciate that fam. I was looking at the GS too! I wanted my wife to get one so I could drive it. I looked at the GSF for me and the prices are crazy! I still want one though
Sorry for your loss. Nothing is more important than family. The car market has simply shifted and values have dropped on just about everything. At some point you are going to take a loss on selling the ITS so if you can survive that financially, just get it over if you do not think you can commit to is for a few more years. You need to really place a good value on your time. It might not be worth your time to save a couple grand trying to sell it. I just picked up a really nice CT4-VBW 6spd from Carvana of all places. Most options, 8k miles for $58k. I traded my GLI and of the 80+ cars I've bought, it was the most stress free purchase I've ever made. It was actually fun.. I have 3 kids and the back seat of the CT4 was what kept me from the car, but I just didn't want to cough up another 30k for a CT5. It's only been a day, but really happy with my choice. My boys fit just fine back there and when it's the 5 of us, we are in my wifes 22 MDX A-Spec, which has been mostly trouble free for 31k miles. I really liked the space and packaging of the ITS, but I'm just a die hard RWD guy, especially here in the Midwest. Talk to Topher more about his CT4 drives vs his CTR.
@@QueTheChaotic I found CARVANA to be really fair for their wholesale number. I would check with them and CARMAX. Right now the dealers are being conservative with their offers due the shaky car market and economy in general. Wish you were closer so you could drive mine! Are you going to Gingerman before winter?
I am hella OCD too bro, but those panel gaps don't stick out to me more now after you got them adjusted than they would for any other cars build quality. I think even if you stare at the body of a beautifully designed $500k Ferrari for too long you'll start to see maybe one side of the hood is slightly a few centimeters higher than the other. It is definitely something that irks me the same way and I get it I would try to fix it too and I think they look good now. I feel like post-covid almost every brand/company has cut corners in some way and it's sad to see, but you did say you wanted long term reliability and Honda has had mechanical durability down for a long time. Those parts are the most pricy to fork up down the road when warranty is out. What are your thoughts on trading it in for another Integra or Type-R that are assembled in Japan as opposed to US? Your whip honestly could just be a lemon. Also, the Cadillac is nice as heck but is Rear wheel drive so you'd be keeping it in the garage during the winter unless you want to try to play roulette with winter tires and risking not totaling it bc of snow and ice on the road. Sad to see the OEM Carbon Fiber mirror caps wearing through, though not rare for those price-hiked addons.
I think Covid did play a huge part in quality issues. I would be ok with a Type R but I'd rather just move on. The mark ups ruin it for me. I drove a lot of RWD muscle V8s in the winter. The tires help a lot.
@@QueTheChaotic 100% Covid messed things up. I mean just for example I didn't even search how new Ferrari's are looking when I said that but funny enough I just searched and this video of a brand new $500K SF90 hood gap is off if you compare the width between the left and right side, at the front Idk if we can win. th-cam.com/video/cX9CjmR641s/w-d-xo.html I almost prefer my cars to have a little of a "beat" look to them, kind of like how rally cars are driven in gravel but in a lesser sense lol, if there's a rock chip or scrape near the bottom I'm not going to stress as much as I might have done in the past because we just aren't driving these like luxury whips at the end of the day. Those Cadillacs look and sound soo good for sure. When I used to live in warm weather it was fun having a Mustang and making the rear go looser easier definitely adds more excitement to the drive. I feel the BlackWing version seems the most special and sporty but buying a fresh new one might put you above the Type-S price. I don't know how bad your winters get but here in New England it gets pretty bad. Excited to see what you end up choosing. Drive safe bro.
Depending on your budget I’d definitely recommend Lexus, even as a brand they have great reliability performances and comfort I’d argue better than Acura. You could consider the IS, RC, LC LF etc. if you want performance along with the daily driver. Idk if the trunk space would be as big as the integra, but I hope the other areas do make up for t a little bit
As a car guy and being realistic I’m gonna tell you why they aren’t selling. Before I go on my current garage is a 2020 STi and 24 IS500 F Sport. The FK8 Type R sold like hot cakes. I understand why. It was a bargain for the money. Sitting at around 36-40K around its lifespan. Now the FL5 came out at like price 43K. With no face lift honda added $800 on top for 2024 and another $800 on the MSRP for 2025. This is before destination, accessories packages, and tax/res fees. So OTD on any Type R is 51-53K. Sure great car. Rings times we get it. But majority of people do not care enough to pay 50K for FWD. There are plenty of other options new or CPO that people would rather take a slight price jump to get into or look for gently used. That paired with Hondas modern quality and issues. They still haven’t fixed the rock getting stuck in rotor issues, recall of seat welds, random noises they can’t solve, or mechanical issues that they can’t seem to track down. Infotainment still suck and is laggy for a 50K car. To add to the cherry to on top. The buying experience from most people sucks ass. From dealer mark ups to them treating it like gold you couldn’t test drive it. I pull up in an IS500 and they still wouldn’t let me touch it. I love the Type R but its a 40K max car all day. Hell I got my 2020 STi new for 34K OTD. And its got AWD and heated seats lol. I ain’t ever that thing up. Deal of my life. Honda just won’t budge though. Its a bad experience all around. They tend to treat everyone like they are stupid. It was enough to steer me away.
I sympathize. My Integra had some issues that kept nagging at me. I ended up trading it in for a GTI Autobahn 380 edition. With the exception of the ELS 3D audio system and physical space it honestly feels like an upgrade. Hope you can either sell your Type S or make peace with it!
Sorry about your father. Wishing you and your family the best during this difficult time, may he rest easy my brother. Take care, and catch you in the next video.
So sorry to hear about your dad, man. I’ve been watching your journey with the Type S since the beginning. You got it about the same time I got mine. It only took me a month and a half to feel like you feel now, and I got rid of it. Too many issues, the dealer service departments all sucked, and I could tell it was going to get worse. Sell the car man, get out of it before more goes wrong. Look at an M340i (even though it doesn’t have a manual), or maybe a last generation F80 M3. I miss my M2s I had. When the day comes that I get rid of my CTR, it will be for another M car.
I hear you and concur that for a new car, you have had far too many issues, and I would do the same because you never know what else could go wrong as it ages. I bought one recently and have been less than impressed with the build quality. Panels are not put together on the inside, stuff coming loose, etc. Heck, they did not even ship it properly to the dealership. I had paint issues and scuffs all over the place. One should not have these basic issues in a so-called luxury car at the high price point.
If you really love your Acura, a thought: locate a top drawer body shop - maybe the kind that does classic restorations - and go in and say hey, can you guys make these body panel gaps right? It may cost you a bit, but you might be surprised at just what a talented body shop can do. And then who knows, you might fall in love with your Acura again! Just sayin’…
Sorry…forgot to mention that new Acura Type S coming out with carbon fiber exterior and interior bits. It’s on the Topher channel if it sounds interesting to you. 200lbs lighter…
My ITS has been fine; there was an issue with the parking sensor and the dealer just fixed that under warranty without any drama. Sorry to hear about your loss. Your next car should only be from a dealer in your area with good reviews then. Otherwise you can get into the same situation where the car is great but eventually you sell it because you don’t like the dealership.
First off Man…I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. I know it’s not easy but try and focus on the happy times with him. I understand your Type S not selling/reminding you of that bad time but sometimes moving forward even if it means losing a few bucks might be better for you. Dealer’s choice…hopefully your luck will change! Having said that…as far as a reliable replacement…maybe a Lexus IS500 might suit you. 472hp Bulletproof V-8,Excellent Mark Levinson sound system,Lexus quality and a quiet interior aside from when you open up that exhaust!I can’t speak for the Lexus dealers in your area BUT in Southern California they are leagues ahead of Honda in the service department! I think the interior space might be a little tighter than the Type S…but not sure. Just my two cents Man. I too like a nice reliable ride and unfortunately reliable sports car choices are fewer and fewer nowadays and unfortunately there’s a lot of people struggling to make ends meet so selling a car now is hard. Wish you luck in whatever you decide on!😁👍
@@QueTheChaotic No worries Man. No worries. Well…I guess I’m preaching to the choir then as far as the IS500 is concerned. It all boils down to which car puts a smile on your face. Since retiring,I debate whether to purchase a 69 Camaro(my first car) or swing for the fences for a C8 Corvette Z51/Eray possibly(85k-150k). C8 has 2.5ish 0-60 time in its most basic trim and can be ordered for MSRP from the number one Corvette dealer in USA(McCormick I think). Or…I could buy 3 cars approximately for the same money…Civic Type R,GR Corolla(auto coming out),Lexus IS500 etc. Point is whatever I decide(one car or three)…I’m going to drive the ones that make me happy. Life’s too short. Sometimes for approximately the same money(bolt ons, wheels, mods, etc.) there’s a factory tuned hot rod that can be an all in one package. The new 2025 GT500 is another contender for me(forgot that was coming out) that is also supposed to start around 80k…Corvette territory. I know that was a mouthful but filling up a dream car garage is never easy. I look forward to YOUR next dream car…I’m sure it’ll be wicked…😁👍.
@@justwingingit1 thanks a lot! You have great taste in cars. If I had the money I would be in the same boat lol. Whenever I play my racing video game, I always spend money on cars and have no money lol
When I test drove a Type S, the dealer had 10-12 on the lot, and a lot of them did have some panel gaps. What other things have you seen besides gaps and the cosmetic sticker? I heard rattles and seat comfort?
If your car was for sale in the PNW it might have sold pretty quick. DE5/FL5s are flying off showroom floors out here. I'm talking $5k over msrp FL5s that just arrived off transport type of fast. I have a white DE5 in transit for MSRP I got kinda lucky on and I'm hoping the 2025s have improved manufacturing/quality. Been feeling for you dealing with all the problems this car has developed and the bad dealership experience, just hoping it's better out here.
@ZWortek It has a lot to do with the location. I’m in the PNW as well there hasn’t been much inventory for the FL5. I own a BB & I purchased out of state for MSRP because every dealer wanted $5k-10 over I payed $750 for a transport & got it shipped to me.
@@Charlie_562 I appreciate you confirming that! 😄I was losing my mind trying to find an FL5 and I called a ton of dealerships in the PNW and like you said it's ALL $5-10k over. I actually had a dealership, Honda of Burlington, text me that they were declining my "offer" to pay $5k over LOL. I thought about looking out of state but I was already so annoyed I was about to just not buy a car. Ended up seeing that the DE5 was available at ONE dealership here so I jumped on it, but I know there are other dealers very close that are ask $10k over. I was using carfax and cargurus as an aggregator for incoming new FL5/DE5s. If you don't mind me asking, what state did you get yours from? Saw people on Reddit saying they actually were able to get theirs for MSRP from California since there are so many dealers and cars there. I called a few and gave up.
Get you a TLX Type S. Rumor is 2025 is the end of it. I’ve had mine for a couple weeks, & the car is so nice. Your Integra is looking 🔥🔥. Sucks the situation you’re having with it.
I understand! It didn't start out well with that damn dealer and if one feels like selling it, get rid of it. I feel satisfied with my civic hatchback sport touring and until a few more years if the 1.5T is stressing me, then and only then will i sell it. On to new things! Reliability is most important!
Yeah man if I went through what you went through with this car it would have been gone a long time ago, I feel where you're coming from, also condolences again on the loss of your father I know that's an extremely difficult thing to deal with, keep your head up though fam better days are ahead. I vote you trade out of the Type S for a Golf R or a WRX TR, those are two cars you've never had before they might fit your lifestyle perfectly especially the Subaru because of the amazing Subaru community and the fact that the Subaru makes a great daily driver and it has one of the best AWD systems in the game period.
If I was going to buy an all around awesome car for the $60ish ballpark. I'd get a CT4-V Blackwing as well. So many awesome things about that car. Yea, it won't sound like the CT5-V, but from what I've heard online, it still sounds really good. Another option I'd consider as a 4 door, would be an M3.

Hey Que,
Sorry for your recent loss.. You’re one of the reasons I bought my ITS but I understand the drama you went through with Acura.. Keep up the great content!!!🙏🏽👍🏾👊🏾💯
I appreciate you
This why people shouldn’t have underestimated why the FL5 being made in Japan vs Type S being made in Ohio is such a big deal
@@chrislo2007 the engine for the FL5 and DE5 are both made in Ohio.
Yes but the car is assembled in Japan. I’m sure there are parts in both cars made in China too.
@@chrislo2007 true. My main issues were engine related which both were assembled in the US

Thanks for sharing. Great insight
After you showed everything that happened to that car, I dont think any subscriber would buy it.

Sorry for your loss bro. I remember your dad from your earlier videos.
Thank you bro
I never thought about replacement parts. That's wild

Thank you. Sorry for your loss as well. 🙏🏾
Preowned G80 m3 base manual in the darker gray color to not highlight the pig nose
The HRC is fire!
You seem like the type of guy who needs a Porsche. Maybe type R since built in Japan.
Sorry for your loss Que
Worth about 35k max.
I did a comparison on those two. I liked the IS500
Sorry to hear about your loss...
I would love one is Aisle of Man Green
What about the CT-5 V series? Should be more roomier? Not sure how dealers are pricing these, but saw the MSRP is only about 4-5k more than the CT-4
I'll need a few more coins for one of those
@@QueTheChaotic I feel that 💯
Damnnnnn Que.
I am looking at those closely. Sadly they are lowballing my trade. The Topher spoke highly of the BW. I want to drive one again soon
@@QueTheChaotic PS - there are a bunch of used and new ones in the Detroit area. The new ones, especially 24’s can be had with pretty good discounts.
I mean just for example I didn't even search how new Ferrari's are looking when I said that but funny enough I just searched and this video of a brand new $500K SF90 hood gap is off if you compare the width between the left and right side, at the front Idk if we can win. th-cam.com/video/cX9CjmR641s/w-d-xo.html
I almost prefer my cars to have a little of a "beat" look to them, kind of like how rally cars are driven in gravel but in a lesser sense lol, if there's a rock chip or scrape near the bottom I'm not going to stress as much as I might have done in the past because we just aren't driving these like luxury whips at the end of the day.
I was looking at the GSF and they are ridiculously expensive
They are wildly over priced. I can't believe how much they increase from the FK8 to the FL5
I sympathize. My Integra had some issues that kept nagging at me. I ended up trading it in for a GTI Autobahn 380 edition. With the exception of the ELS 3D audio system and physical space it honestly feels like an upgrade. Hope you can either sell your Type S or make peace with it!
I hear you on that, The GTI is surprisingly luxurious
Won't have any panel gap problems with a German car.Drove a WRX and a GTI back to back. GTI felt like a Bentley compared to that Asian tin can.

I feel you
If you really love your Acura, a thought: locate a top drawer body shop - maybe the kind that does classic restorations - and go in and say hey, can you guys make these body panel gaps right? It may cost you a bit, but you might be surprised at just what a talented body shop can do. And then who knows, you might fall in love with your Acura again! Just sayin’…
Great idea

My ITS has been fine; there was an issue with the parking sensor and the dealer just fixed that under warranty without any drama. Sorry to hear about your loss.
Your next car should only be from a dealer in your area with good reviews then. Otherwise you can get into the same situation where the car is great but eventually you sell it because you don’t like the dealership.
Honda quality is not what it used to be. I owned 4 and all have had reliability problems. I gave up on Honda.

Wish you luck in whatever you decide on!😁👍
Thank you sir. The Lexus is very nice. I enjoyed the one I had for a week
