    Hi Keith, Your Daddy is a lucky man to have a son like yourself to keep up with the operation of the farm. How you keep it straight is a task within itself. You are a outstanding young man. Take Care and Stay Safe.

    They need to invent a combine that will plant a double crop. You'd think for a million plus, the X-9 would do it.

    Really enjoying the channel. Grew up working on a rice, crawfish, and soybean farm in south Louisiana. I like seeing the different types of farming operations across our great country. Also enjoy the insight you give with the videos

    Have you guys ever thought about doing relay cropping? It could work with either wheat or rye. Jason Mauck, an Indiana farmer does a lot of this.

    When you plant in wheat stubble if you go the same direction, the opener will plant between the old wheat rows. Good luck with a good crop. I planted double crop and bought a NT 10" Great Plains drill in 1989 to do this. I never planted in July. About 35 bu/ac with group 3 was the most after wheat. I used max of Prowl because there was no Roundup ready. Also used it pre emerge throw the sprinkler.

      Typically we like to have double crop beans in by the 12th of July. We've drilled with the rows and on angle and for us we have not seen a difference. These beans are a 2.8, Pioneer P28T14E Enlist variety.

      @@WernerAg We have very heavy wheat stubble for stand-ability. I have 19" turbo Coulters on my GP drill to plant in our tight clay soil. Irrigation is expensive for Soybeans, requires too much irrigation for high yields and we have to ship our beans east 300 miles to central Kansas. It is not grown here even though large amounts is used for area pork and dairy.

    • @WernerAg
      @WernerAg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We're always careful of electric lines around equipment and all of our fields fortunately we do not have to worry about unloading under them as the electric companies have made the lines high enough that they are well out of the way.

    Although I do understand why you planted soybeans in mid July in Indiana it would not work for me. I do not irrigate in southern Indiana and the soybeans wouldn't get a foot tall and would not even produce the seed I planted. lol but it will work for you. My row crops look good down here. Corn is shooting ears and they soybeans are on the verge of setting pods or atleast in full bloom.

    • @WernerAg
      @WernerAg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's good to hear that your crops look good! Fortunately we are just on the fringe area where double cropping still works with the weather in our area.

    • @americasdream1265
      @americasdream1265 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WernerAg we just don't irrigate down here in southeastern Indiana. That's the reason I need my corn in the ground in April and soybeans soon after and I got that done this spring unlike last spring. Last season was not a good year for me but this year shows a lot of promise although we could use some rain tonight and it is being predicted. Hot Humid nights has been a blessing for the corn and a little rain will get very close to making the corn and the beans won't take much either.

    How much of a difference is there in production of the crop between a macdon header and the header that comes with a John Deere Combine originally

    • @WernerAg
      @WernerAg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as performance of harvesting they are about the same. In my opinion the cost to operate the Deere head on a per acre cost compared to the MacDon is higher due to the increase in the number of wear points on the Deere vs the MacDon.

    Why do so many farmers not want to disclose their yields?

    • @WernerAg
      @WernerAg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not something we like to hide but to more protect ourselves from others using them against us. Sadly in today's times farms will use others financial or personal data to their benefit and sabotage other farms by renting ground out from others. It's a sad situation but it's the world we live in. We do our best to keep our rented data under wraps but I am more than happy to disclose yield data on our acres that we own. We can pride ourselves however that we have never seeked out land to sabotage another farm and or rent land out from another. It's not right and it is not respectful. That's what we believe but sadly a lot don't live by that philosophy.
