Sloth was one of those characters that sort of grew you as a person without realizing it. Here's this horrifying looking character who turns out to be a nice, sweet hearted person who just wants to watch movies and make friends. Sloth's friendship with Chunk is the best part of this movie.
I totally agree and feel bad for him and how he was treated by his own family. Despite all the shit they give Chunk, he was the most likable character (save for Sloth and Data) and was the true hero!
I love how they chain Sloth up in the cellar and he can't get out, but when he sees a god damn Baby Ruth, WATCH OUT! He's breaking that damn chain to get that candy bar!!
stevie Magoose Good job, detective. You’re learning the tricks of the trade. The trick is making a good scene out of it, while still fulfilling your obligations. Most of the greatest musical acts of all time were, or had teams that were, great at towing that line.
That was the last straw! When Chunk tried to throw it to him, and it landed on the floor out of his reach! IN ADDITION to the way he'd been treated by the 3 monsters who raised him! I'm telling you: IT WAS THE *LAST STRAW!!* 🤣😁
Man nothing gets in the way of Sloth and his baby ruth, he's so passionate that's he's willing to tear open stone walls (literally) to obtain it. Now that's commitment right there
+Brett Wyatt Come on man, you gotta get over your insecurities. We cannot all be as handsome as Sloth. I myself, am very close but I am one in a billion.
I have a twisted mind, here is what I think happened: A pipe came up out of the ground and stabbed right through the bottom of the car, went through the passenger seat, penetrating through the driver's friend's anus and out their mouth like a shish kebab. The skidding and crash was caused by the car directly behind the driver of the kebab'd car, who had no time to react. The scream was caused by the blood soaked, traumatized driver (likely a woman due to the high pitch).
I watched this when I was 5, and this scene both confused and scared me at the same time. Now watching it back, this guy's my favorite character now lmao.
Sloth was the strongest, toughest Democrat ever, who clearly didn't need a gun, probably supports abortions and protests like a champ and was just as charismatic as our former President O.B. First, African-American president to be elected and win not once, but twice mind you and accomplish more in two terms/eight years than our current president could accomplish in eight life times and still has a great sense of humor and is very intelligent and at least cares about his family and alot of people in general. Love him or hate as a president or human being, you have to at least give him credit for going down in history with that legacy.
This is one of those characters that taught me at age four 35 years ago that you can’t judge a book by its cover as just because he looks scary and growls like a monster all chained up as he’s a man and beneath his monstrous face and skin there is true beauty even when he saved the Goonies and make friends
When I watched this for the first time as a kid, I didn't know that his name was Sloth. So for the longest time I always referred to him as the "Deformed Guy".
Sloth was played by John Matuszak, a former pro-football player turned actor. He was indeed very muscular and strong and even competed in the world strongest man competitions. He weighed 308 lbs. He was good looking(without the Sloth makeup). Unfortunately, he died in 1989 from heart failure, he was 38. He wasn't married but was dating Stephanie Cozart Burton at the time of his death.
@@masonwallace7514 He was roiding and experimenting with Coke. His GF found him unresponsive. Paramedics TRIED to revive him. Apparently when he died, she, his Mother and father Sobbed. At his funeral, his Mom was inconsolable and Collapsed once they got to his Casket. His Younger Sister, a Longtime Suffer of Cystic Fibrosis, Wept shouting “I love my Brother Tooz! I want him back!” She succumbed to her disease 2 years later.

I was thinking the same. These days every movie is either a sequel or a reboot cause directors and investors dont like to take chances. Always playing it safe. Nothing is original anymore.
Trivia: When the movie aired on ITV in the UK in 1988, Sloth growling at Chuck was removed because it would frighten younger viewers. It cut from Chunk saying his name is Laurence at 0:09 to Sloth giggling and bouncing in his chair at 0:25.
1.41 onwards to 1.55 when sloth pushes up the pipes never fails to make me laugh his face reaction to what hes did after he hears the scream is PRICELESS UH OH !!!!! XD

The Camander same
Love his laugh and how his ears wiggle when he gets excited
Me too. 😂
Kinda like dopey does
Loves when he rips his shirt off and there's superman shirt underneath, then he pounds his chest and says "sloth"
Sailor Sedna it was the same director, Richard Donner if I remember correctly.
Well that is what the S stands for.
We’re in deep shit now Francis...
Jay - Bone that’s why he had a Superman shirt the s for sloth I thought he was just tryna be Superman when I was a kid lol 😂😂😂
We're in deep shit now Francis
Sloth is probably the only man who could defeat Superman
no Batman
Muhammad Ali did
a horse did a pretty good job.
Cardiac arrest did a pretty good job.
A nice self-indulgent nod to "Superman", another Richard Donner classic!
RIP John Matuszak (October 25, 1950 - June 17, 1989), aged 38
You will be remembered as a legend
0:58 !!! LOL his face when he gets hit with the candy bar

john matuszak as sloth. 1950-1989 rip buddy! you were awsome
But he'll still be awesome in Lego Dimensions
He died just two weeks before my parents got married.

Sloth is the perfect example why you shouldnt judge people because of their appearance
❤
Sometimes judging someone by their appearance can save your life. Just be reasonable when you approach ugly people and it should be good.
Don’t forget about Quasimodo or quasi for short
The reveal of the Superman shirt with the theme playing is CLASSIC.
Aww I loved Sloth such an adorable character couldn’t help but love him
When he picks up the baby Ruth it's so cute :)

The guy playing Sloth was very strong. He played pro football and competed in the world strongest man competitions.

The guy who played Sloth, John Matuszak was actually a good looking guy in real-life. He even used to be a football player.
He died from heart failure.
"Hey you guysss" Lmao My friends & I can never stop repeating that line...

Sloth is my spirit animal. I'm so happy he got away from his abusive mother.
Truely a touching performance by a frickin football player. RIP Mr. Matuszak! Thanks man.

RIP John Matuszak you came to us as a NFL Player and everyone's favorite Sloth.
At 1:47, it sounds like Sloth caused a car accident. He must've pushed a pipe or water main up through the ground and car crashed into it.
Most likely, yes.
I have a twisted mind, here is what I think happened: A pipe came up out of the ground and stabbed right through the bottom of the car, went through the passenger seat, penetrating through the driver's friend's anus and out their mouth like a shish kebab. Sloth should have his own sitcom. Would be a ratings bonanza.

Alexander Edward Pytko he overdosed on something, coke I think
The first shirt Sloth was wearing was also a reference as well. It was an Oakland Raiders shirt, the same team Matuszak played for.
