Thank you thank you thank you! I bought all the tools was able to put this in myself when no one else would. I was so excited when the screen lit up! Your a star! 💫 So appreciated.
Oh man, thanks for posting this video. I have the EXACT same issue with my escape and it amazes me that this is a common issue and yet rockauto, oreilly's, and autozone do not have this part in their inventory. That literally blows my mind. An autozone rep told me that he saw the part I needed on Amazon. Lo and behold it was on Amazon. Now my local dealership wanted 150 bucks just to put it in the shop and who knows how much for the display. I paid 85 bucks on amazon. I could have gotten it cheaper but I think I am just going to deal with it until next time. Again, thank you very much for posting this video. You literally saved me at least several hundred dollars.
you're welcome, thanks for watching my content. yes, I know it's true about the stealership charging an arm and a leg for fixing your car, but there is lots of people out there that have the tools and knowledge to help you.
Ford wanted to sell me just the instrument display for which they wanted 600 dollars for not including the labor cost. I am so glad that I found this video.
Video is great description of whole process. One correction, on my 2013 Escape SEL, the screws holding the instrument panel togeether needed a T-10 torks driver, not T-15. Thanks. Only too half an hour and aaved $$$
I have a 2014 that just went white, like it was getting power but nothing on the screen....I went to a junk yard, took a wrecked 2014 LCD screen off myself and installed it on my car and IT WORKS! WORKS GREAT!!!!!
There are 2- 7mm bolts and 4 Torx# 14 screws. I used a plastic pick to undo the ribbon that connects to the LCD. I took my time and it still only took about 10-15 mins.
The time it takes swap this out is what I tried to explain to the Ford dealership who tried to tell me that it was all-day job. Ford is so full of it. I never had a problem with my car until I took it in to Ford for a transmission fluid flush. I usually make it a rule to never take my car to the dealership unless it is absolutely necessary, but this transmission fluid flush was something I could not get around because the patented equipment required to do the job, only Ford has and no one else does.
I followed all the steps here but when I get to the clip inside the instrument cluster, it is either broke or it is different, can not get it disconnected there is not tab to move or anything to press down on it looks nothing like the one you are showing. what can I do?
Any chance your center cluster was making a clicking sound when you hooked it all back up? I started the car up and the screen came on but the needles on the cluster was making a clicking sound and jiggling a little. Next day the battery was dead, could be happenstance. Battery only had 5 volts on it when i measured it, I am going to try to charge and it see what happens.
I was very specific about not messing with the needles & not to touch them, but if you didn't mess them up, it could be the display is not the right part for the instrument cluster. no, my instrument cluster wasn't making any noises.
right, when you power the cluster up, but after a few seconds it's not supposed to do that, if yours is doing it just like in the video but not after a few seconds then it's fine.
there are tools for odometer reading correction at places such as eBay, Amazon, not the greatest tools sometimes, but they do what they are supposed to with some hiccups. I personally don't used them, but I heard some people buy them to lower the mileage on used cars, which by the way is illegal & punishable by law. I don't think Ford IDS & Ford VCM-II or VCM-lll can do milage correction. Not sure, I might be wrong to.
I figured it out and got it to work. I suspected that the ribbon cable wasn't all the way in the first time When I plugged the main cable cluster into the back the second time, I heard the power cycle through it the entire instrument panel. Thanks again for the tutorial. You literally saved me prolly over a thousand dollars.
You got the wrong part. The replacement with the brackets (wings) is for a 140 mph speedo. The one you took out does not have them, so you have a 150 mph speedo. Great video though. Easy to do and much less expensive than the dealer.
not at all, the part worked great back then, still works until this day, that's what the seller sent me but I did state that with the seller and he said the part he sent me would work perfectly fine.
could be, make sure you didn't turn the dimmer switch too low, or light brightness to the minimum in your instrument cluster, when the information center display goes out, the screen is bright, you just can't see/read anything.
@@evoixdelaluz crazy thing is when I search for my dimmer switch it says it is the right of the steering wheel with plus and minus sign but there is not this on my car.?
What does your exact miles or do you have to take it didn’t have a program my dealership wants $200 an hour and they want to keep my car for three days to take the whole thing apart
No, but is best if you don't turn the key on while removing the instrument cluster, it will flag trouble codes for a missing instrument cluster module not present.
I am having a very similar problem with my Ford Escape. I went to a mechanic and he said I need to replace the whole dashboard. I can’t find the part anywhere. Do you have the exact name of the part?

Very helpful. Voice, camera everything is appreciable.
I think it takes a lot of patience to do that, thanks for letting us know how we can do it
I have a 2014 that just went white, like it was getting power but nothing on the screen....I went to a junk yard, took a wrecked 2014 LCD screen off myself and installed it on my car and IT WORKS! WORKS GREAT!!!!!
I think that is what Ford does when you take your car in for service...swap parts out of people's cars to keep you coming back.
Beautifully detailed!! Great job!!

@@evoixdelaluz It was making the same noise yours was making at 14:35 so I guess that is normal.

How do you reprogram a used replacement to accurately read the odometer from the computer?

If you dont get the pins all the way in, will the screen not power on?
just like in the video, you need to push the ribbon cable all the way in. very important to get it in correctly.
I figured it out and got it to work. I suspected that the ribbon cable wasn't all the way in the first time

If my screen is just very dim does that mean it needs replaced?
could be, make sure you didn't turn the dimmer switch too low, or light brightness to the minimum in your instrument cluster, when the information center display goes out, the screen is bright, you just can't see/read anything.

the display does not retain any data such as odometer counts, it's just a screed that displays messages & numbers.
Should the car be on when removing and reinstalling the display unit?
No, but is best if you don't turn the key on while removing the instrument cluster, it will flag trouble codes for a missing instrument cluster module not present.
Are the miles correct when you are done?
that's a good question, yes the millage is not affected, since the display doesn't hold odometer information, it's just a screen.
Isto e igual para ford ecosport ano 2018?
Tank you Sr it help a lot

What's the year, and the instrument cluster rated speed? 130 MPH 140 MPH?
Thanks. The dealer wants $900!
