    I am (foolishly?) taking to playing the trumpet for the first time aged 73. This has to be amongst the best teaching videos I have watched.

      Me too... 74. When I was in elementary school I wanted to play cornet. But they told me my embouchure wasn’t right for it. I was told I needed to play clarinet which I didn’t want. Played for a year and quit. So a month ago I said screw em and went out and bought a nice trumpet

      @@t555p I am pleased to say that my embouchure is getting better but it takes regular practice :) I love the relationship one develops with the instrument.

    I'm also 73 and picking up the cornet. 1st video saved my endevor. Now I have a suggestion for new learners looking to limit horrid trumpet sounds. Use only the mouthpiece to practice your lips. Much quieter (and wifie stays home!)

    Hi guys!! Can you tell us more about Sib and C trumpets... wich one to choose, differences, soundwise, uses, etc etc...
    Thanks!!!

    • @sandwichxiii
      @sandwichxiii 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sib (or Bb) trumpets play the Bb overtone series using open valves, meaning no valves down will play Bb, F, Bb, D... so on. On a C trumpet, it plays the C overtone series. Simply put, a Bb trumpet plays everything a whole tone down

    Isn't the most important thing with the trumpet to have a muscular upper lip ? No matter how good the breath control is,if you haven;t any upper lip muscularity you will have no tone and no range.

    It's not a "Diaphraeghm". It's a Diaphragm. Thank you.

      As it is, your spelling does not help. It would be better to say it sounds like di-ahfram . The Dutch usually speak 3 or more languages, so don't expect them to know exactly the proper pronunciation of every english word.

    • @LorenzoSabatini4prez
      @LorenzoSabatini4prez 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** This is how it is spelled. I am Italian, speak 4 languages fluently, and never had a trouble pronouncing the word "Diaphragm".

    • @MxAvA
      @MxAvA 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      My point was that if you want to explain how to pronounce a word, you need to write it in a way that shows the pronunciation or explain that the "g" is silent. Repeating the correct spelling doesn't help explain how it should be pronounced. Good for you that you are so fluent in multiple languages. I thought you were a monolingual American criticizing someone who doesn't speak english perfectly.

      ***** I am an Italian man, who speaks four languages fluently. On top of my mother tongue, I speak French, German and Russian (I studied Russian language and literature in the University).
      I cannot stand the Dutch accent. I guess it's just a matter of taste.
