- At 540 lbs, Ken's life was constant pain and severe depression - his self image was "human garbage" and thought of himself as a "monster".
One day when his boxer Lucky woke him up to go outside, he realized just how difficult it was to just move across the room and made plans to end his own life... but only moments after he had planned this something inspired him to change his life. Watch his incredible journey to reclaim his life and be inspired that anyone can change no matter how bad off they are, and that anything is possible!

Im sitting here in an empty conference room at some hotel in the UK with tears trickling down my cheeks and im a grown ass man. This story is truly inspiring in every sense where nearly nothing is impossible.
I am so emotional and moved by every aspect of your story. I'm finding it difficult to type a response right now. You are a true fighter. You never gave up, when it seemed like you had a lot of reasons to quit. There is a lot of suffering out here, as we are in the midst of an obesity epidemic. I believe you have given hope to many by sharing your story. You had a great connection with your dog, Lucky. She meant so much to you. Her spirit lives on and you have all the great memories. I lost my dog, Boomer back in 2012. He was with me for 12 years. I still miss him, but I cherish all the great memories. Keep up the great work and may God continue to bless your life.

I really needed to watch your story this morning Ken. I have been struggling myself to get started, to put down the alcohol and cigarettes and to get off my butt! I have approximately 120 lbs to lose and though it isn't the 305 you have lost this weight is pulling me down. I just got a rescue puppy from a local animal charity called Watermelon Ranch and I want to give him, Monte, a long and healthy life. I am going to start chair workouts today because of your story. I can totally relate to this man’s struggle and what he’s has to deal with. I too feel like a monster and hate what I see in the mirror. I started out at 300-305lbs and I’m down to 270lbs, it’s not easy but it can be done, I just have to win the battle in my mind first.
Frankie, you are no moster. Only the people who are deeply emotional and go through deep heartaches in life end up gaining weight. It's the body's way of protecting itself from all the pain.

Lucky would want for you to love again! 1.5 years after my dog daughter died, I realized I needed a dog to love. It is how I am built and who I am. And so, I got another dog. And my new dog healed my soul!!!!! We love each other to bits! I know she was in doggy heaven and looked down on me and said, “I can help her heal”. Adopt another puppy who needs a home and your love!

Brother, you never lost Lucky. She shared her life with you and gave you the inspiration to do what you had to do. Every living thing is the universe manifest. we understand words such as dog, cat, tree, human - but a dog doesn't know its a dog, it is a life - a beautiful life that touches and blends with your own. Lucky is part of you. Never be sad to see someone go, but rather be utterly grateful that you were 'Lucky' to know them. Grief passes, and you will come to know you never 'Lost' her at all. This story really really touched me, i can't stop crying right now. I've always struggled with my weight and depression. My dog has been my rock and by my side for 10 years. He's the reason why I didn't commit suicide quite a few times. The way Ken viewed himself, the struggles for basic mobility, the feeling of worthlessness. I feel it all. I was also recently laid off, shooting my worth lower, however it's given me some time to take a step back and reassess certain things in life. I've had the DDP Yoga program back in 2013, but I wasn't committed because I was in the deep of my depression. I've been in therapy for 7 years now, and while I navigate through the job market, i'm going to also commit myself back to good health.

@@amd-137 It's been a minute, but things are on the up and up. Got a new job, that came with a surprise raise, dog is still living his best life and i'm learning to live mine! Lost 40lbs overall since April. The real support was my therapist, and leaning on her during this whole ordeal.

It's June and I'm 260. Last July I was 315lbs. I likely had hit around 330 but started dieting and exercising little by little earlier last year so by the time I weighed myself in July I may have lost some.
Stories like these give me so much motivation. The way he described himself as a monster hit so close to home for me. I always told people I'm a slug in people clothes.
I'm gonna keep going. I want to stick around longer for my wife and son.

You can do it. I was 280-290 for 15 years, peaking at 310. I quit smoking, got down to 207, crept back up to around 235 over the first few years that I was a parent (stress), and am now creeping back down (225 atm) while also doing a proper weightlifting routine for the first time ever. Had a bad vein fixed in my leg and if I can get my knees fixed up I'll be in decent shape. Already feeling pretty good. Went for a 17km walk back in April and was only "a bit sore" after. Can take stairs two at a time. Can stay on my feet for 4-5 hours without needing to rest. You'll get to where you want to go because you've got all the power. Just make sure you use it!
I have no words. What an incredible hard working man. He looks so happy and healthy now. I feel so much joy for him that he has managed to turn his life around 💛

Here I am trying to lose 40 lbs, which I’ve been trying to do for 10 years now. There’s no excuse now. You truly can still do it...your WHY has to be bigger than your HOW. You gotta win the battle in your mind every single second of the day...but if u do, u will have everything u ever wanted.
You can easily lose those 40Ibs in a year, the first step is education. I recommend Greg Doucette's videos on weight loss and dieting, once you learn how calories work it becomes trivial.
You and Lucky are Soulmates. She is with you. Our Beloved Dogs and Cats may die a physical death, but their souls live on, and they never leave us. You have an Angel on Your Shoulder.
