I can't believe how easy you make it. It's like you know how my brain works!!! Absolutely the best guitar tutorials on TH-cam and best teacher I've seen. thank you sir!!!
Stich unlocked the doors they’ve been hiding from us. One of the hidden doors Stich opened for me was that modes are simply about the chord position in any given major scale. Once you grasp the simplicity of that concept and begin apply it starting on different chords you will begin to hear all the great tunes that inspired you to play the guitar to begin with. Then create your own tunes. It’s funny because I used to tell people that guitarists aren’t gods, they just know what they’re doing. Watch Stich and become them.
Hey Stich I just found you on Sunday and I'm not even kidding I've grown so much as a player in the last couple of days just form your videos. I can actually solo now! Just because of your never lost system. Thank you and keep it up dude.
Ian... I'm an intermediate level guitar play who loves the Dead, and the Beatles...been singing and playing rhythm for 8 years now. I stumbled upon your videos yesterday and I may have watched all of them. When you said something about "guitar is about creating and resolving tension around home" my mind erupted like a volcano. I was a good player with a bag of licks and all of sudden I just played the best solo over Touch of Grey probably of my entire life to this point. I thank you... and I think I may be in love with you hahaha
I have been watching your Stitch method for about three weeks now and have learned more about guitar theory than ever before. Thanks I will continue to use you as a guitar teacher on TH-cam
Good vid, the Major Scale is THE building block of music. People get too engrossed in Minor Pent. when starting out and it hurts them. Should always learn THE Major Scale!
Great vid! I tell my guitar students when they count out the major scale to say 1-2-3-4-5-6-MAJOR 7-8.....because the '7' [flat 7] is between the 6 and MAJOR 7..this really helps the student understand the difference!
Hi Ian, after your first Neverlost video I already figured it out for myself including major pentatonic and all seven church modes... cool stuff. Before that I used your major Neverlost for major and minor pentatonic. Awesome System u came up with, well explained. Good job! Greets from Germany
When I first learned the major scale, I had no idea how significant it was. As I have learned beyond it, I still find that everything leads back to it! Shared on my Google+ page.
STICH!!!!! Man, idk if you'll ever see this but I've been looking for a video like this for weeks! idk how I missed it! Thank you sooooo fucking much man! I'm playing and sounding like I never have before!!! THANK YOU
Absolutely fascinating lesson, Stich. Learning the guitar is a never ending challenge, but you make it easier to conquer with your common sense approach and knowledge. Keep up the good work, your lessons are invaluable.
Stitch, love this method. It's going to be my focal point for learning all of the notes and keys. Just as an FYI, I was a technical instructor for over 20 years (not important) but during that time I learned that the mind hates a vacuum. IF someone learns a couple of things and there is a gap on how to go from point A to B, the mind WILL put something in there. How far off the mark is determined by the person's overall knowledge of the subject and their ability to make logical/rational decisions. Because of this, knowing the basics or "theory" is critical. How much theory?............enough to prevent the gaps. Thanks again.
at my age it's good to be heard, whether anyone agrees with you or not is completely irrelevant. Love what you did and looking forward to seeing what the second class entails. I'm actually having to work through a couple of mental blocks because of my earlier (like 40 years ago) shortcomings in my musical education.
I've been using the Stich method for about 3 years now and I highly recommend it. Everyone talks about unlocking the neck. Well I think Mr Stich gave me the key. It really is amazing. Thank you so much Mr Stich . . . Im not being formal for any other reason than I can't remember you Christian name right now. :)
Great timing! After blindly practicing the Major Scales boxes without connecting them, I decided just yesterday it was time to begin learning this. Thanks, Ian!
I am trying to be serious here , you are very good I am old at the first blues scale , but I have been stuck for a long time. You showed me how to connect them, Right after that I did the exact same thing I found and followed my major scale on my fifth fret . Thank you , a lot of guys or good players but can't show someone else
The way you explain things is amazing . I would be willing to bet that you could explain the Circle of Fifths on guitar and blow our minds . . . Kudos to you ! Thanx
Ian, It's confusing why people would thumbs down something like this. The way you are teaching is amazing LOL it makes me want to go and watch all your videos. I've been playing a long time too, and you are "very refreshing". The metaphors and the ease of it. It's crazy. Great job lol, where have you been my whole life LOL.
Get around the neck like a blind man in his home. Truly Amazing Stitching Patterns. I must sing: Amazing Grace! how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now am found Was blind but now I see
Sean Daniel's intro jokes are always fire 🔥 and here on your channel your analogies are always the bomb 💣... How do you guys even come up with this things 🤷 South Africa approves ❤️
STITCHHHHHHH, yo dude you are the mannnn.. can i suggest somthing that i think would be extremely beneficial for maybe an upcoming video if we are lucky? I know the caged system only really maps out the same major chord along the fret board dependant on key, but i think it be great if there was a guide showing all 7 diatonic chords in each "shape of the fretboard" as in (ex key of c) C major, d min, e min, F major, G major, a minor and b dim. in the "ballpark" of the C shape, then the A shape, G shape ect. So we can see the 7 chords of the key in convienant distance to the major chord? havent seen ANY vids on it, and think it be a hit. Thank you fr everything you do brutha, peace
Haha. Feeling good today. I started working on this Neverlost major last week. Figured if it worked for pentatonic it had to work for the full major. I struggled with the 'link' patterns, though. Thanks for resolving that. 🎸
What's awesome is that this makes method #4 of learning the major scale, for me. CAGED, 3 note per string, and Tone Note [7 boxes instead of the 5 CAGED], and now this version 😈
nice lesson!! Ian,it would be really nice if you can make a video about how triads work (the sharps, how to memorize these sharps), it would be super awesome, coz you are a great teacher!!
it's funny how the Holy Grail got less views...if only viewers knew the pot of gold you just dropped in this video. Anyways Ian, this isn't my first TH-cam comment and I never get a response. However I'd still love to let you know not only have you been a blessing with your teaching, you've also made it possible to defy limitations when it comes to the fret board. I will definitely be purchasing your products...I just hope you have your payment method accept iTunes card because I'd love to have your book on my iPad. Once again you are the best I've seen so far. Even though I play by ear, I've taken time to study music theory by reading but your explanations make the language of music theory the only language I want to speak. To much writing sorry, but you changed my life Ian. love from New York
Good job, man. I was REALLY struggling to figure this out about a year ago. Once I started thinking about numbers, the fretboard started revealing itself. I like your "sun" analogy. I have been calling the 1 "home base". Change keys / you have to change the home base. I have gone so far as to think of Minor as simply starting on / focusing on "6". When you're playing in a minor key, maybe you spend most of your time on Mars, but the sun is still the sun. (The 1 is still the 1). (Until you change keys - then it's time to grab your belongings and head to a different galaxy and re-orient ourselves...)
This is incredible. thank you!!! When I tried this, I started in A but somehow found myself with a rooted note at A-flat on the 5th string.. it still sounded good, but how come A wasn't the scale I was playing anymore? Edit: nvm. The problem on my end was I didn't follow your path on the B string.
Stitch, let's say you are going to do some Major soloing. Is you 'goto' the Major Pentatonic Neverlost, or the Major Diatonic Neverlost? Because I have to choose a different finger to be on the root, and then the pattern that flows off it is different, this seems like a real conscious 'decision' to make in the Neverlost world.

This is awesome. It’s like the neverlost pentatonic but all over again. This is going to open up so many doors for me and my jam band!!!
Ian... I'm an intermediate level guitar play who loves the Dead, and the Beatles...been singing and playing rhythm for 8 years now. Love the 'solar system' principle - I think starting with the cowboy-chord G is a great way into this ...
you are such a blessing to those of us learning guitar. thank you so much.

STITCHHHHHHH, yo dude you are the mannnn..

Best guitar teacher on TH-cam
U are such a bad ass teacher as well as a master jammer. Love it channel. Keep it up bro!!! Peace from southern California
A must see video thanks
great video stichter
Another major scale tip- the descending major scale is the main melody to the christmas song 'Joy to the world'...again;helps students remember!
Another great lesson with excellent instruction! I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you!
Fantastic. You should call this the Stitch Major Scale Neverlost system.
Love the shirt Ian!
great! thank you!
I love the reference to Pluto. Hilarious!
Yanmin Xia triads are, 1- 3- 5 then look up 1st inversion and 2nd inversion. 3- 5- 1,
or (im not sure) 5- 3- 1.
whatever..
aloha!
Finally !!!!!!! The Major scale.!!!!!!
Great information, thanks
it's funny how the Holy Grail got less views...if only viewers knew the pot of gold you just dropped in this video.

Waiting to get the chart!
I play bass. But this still... resonates.
Top Stuff!! Thanks.
Simple yet brilliant as always. Thank you man!
I need to see your video from yesterday.
Same subset of notes same finger every-time is going to help me enormously. Thanks 1m
Pretty "spacey" lesson, you have combined music and astrophysics. I will never see the Solar System the same again.
i like to think of major scale as a minor scale starting on the second shape
Dorian
Abracadabra !, thanks for the magic !!
Clever lesson....
That should be the first lesson for anybody who wants to learn guitar...
Good job, man. I was REALLY struggling to figure this out about a year ago. Once I started thinking about numbers, the fretboard started revealing itself. I like your "sun" analogy. Gold ✨
good lesson, thanks..!!
intervals ..!
Pluto is a planet! #notmysolarsystem
Back to what you played every night when you was in college please
Love it
This is incredible. thank you!!!
When I tried this, I started in A but somehow found myself with a rooted note at A-flat on the 5th string.. it still sounded good, but how come A wasn't the scale I was playing anymore?
Edit: nvm. The problem on my end was I didn't follow your path on the B string.
Please picture me as the small child at the end of The Incredibles seeing superheroics: That was awesome!
Very cool...
you rock!!! where do I get a shirt?
Ian. Have you ever spent much time playing around with harmonic major Scales and the funky sounding modes that emanate from them? Just curious.
you are awesome
No, you are.😬
Stitch, let's say you are going to do some Major soloing. Is you 'goto' the Major Pentatonic Neverlost, or the Major Diatonic Neverlost?
