- EPS based Panel system is based on factory made composite sandwich panel consisting of combination of self-extinguishing polystyrene corrugated / plain sheet sandwiched between two layers of engineered sheet of high strength galvanized cold steel wire mesh inter connected to each other with high strength steel connectors.

What are the implications of end of the 50 year life span ie, will the owner need to refinance rebuilding after he has just finished paying off his mortgage or are they suitable as government owned low cost rental homes ? Does the demolition allow for a faster ,recycled replacement low cost building which will allow for continued housing for the tenants.

What about fire resistance? This sheets should be melt if longtime fire accident happened.

Had been thinking a lot on alternative wall & roofing system but the EPS has polystyrene which can give poisonous fume hence would never suggest this.
Not happy with BMTPC suggesting it.
And it has hardly any impact apart from lowering weight for seismic.
EPS is encased & treated. It is passed with all health related standards. No issue at all with health of occupants. So, no worries
I am a civil engineer and I have been building such houses since 1989. Polystyrene is the most harmless and hygienic insulation material. It has nothing to do with asbestos and cement products that are carcinogenic. Wrong information you have dear.
