From what I see, the pilot had superior character design, whereas the rest of the series possessed animation more fluid than mercury at room temperature.
Honestly, every character besides cricket/mantis lookes alright in the final show

To me pilot look like it could have been an adult cartoon while the final project looks like a cartoon for kids.

The pilot designs look like a cute indie comic, which like.. of course. But i always loved how the final designs looked like chewy, shiny, rubbery toys. Such a tactile show. I loved it so much.
I remember seeing the pilot, so interesting to see it actually get picked up considering all these other great pilots.

Totally not, they look crazy and original. Once you think about character designs nowadays in cartoons they have to keep some artstyle standard; but this show has their identity in every single prop or lineart, which is incredible how they let this show be drawn like this instead of sticking to a more regular style.

Had this show come out in the 90s/mid-2000s era, it woulda had a better chance to cook. This is why I cannot stand beaurocratic meddling in this industry, if left untouched "Pig, Goat, Banana, Mantis" could've been the next big hit after "The Loud House" before it turned to crap. In a way, it'd be Nick's own "Adventure Time" type cartoon due to the wild adventures these four have and I pesonally liked how in every episode where each character does their own thing, it eventually ties them all together into one cohesive story. Hopefully the creator can bring this back but under a different network or just revamp the show on youtube.

I honestly had soft spot for this cartoon series, yes… it’s not perfect, but it was entertaining in its own way.
And the voice cast is great as always, especially since you have voice acting favs like Candi Milo, Thomas F. Wilson and Paul Rugg.
And surprisingly, Pig’s VA voices Wedge in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
I knew Wedges voice sounded familiar, didn't expect it to be from this cartoon, though

Pig goat banana cricket is like one of the most visually interesting shows to come out of recent times just with style alone I never truly understood why people hated it that much
The pilot designs look almost Ren & Stimpy inspired, while the final designs look like those twitter/tumblr redesigns where everyone has severe rosacea.

The reason why Mantis was changed into a Cricket in the actual show is because I guess Nickelodeon had a rule that no TV shows have the same character since Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness had their own Mantis.

I think that they definitely improved the animation compared to the pilot. Its less stiff, more jumpy which works well for cooper's art style. However kinda sucks that mantis was changed to cricket, I like his evil scientist voice than the cliche geeky voice.

probably because of the lung function panda tv show running around that time. the show had a character already named mantis so the creators probably changed it to cricket in the final version to avoid confusion or something like that

I think the issue is that the pilot is designed in a way there's enough detail, while in the final they put waaaay too much detail that in the end lacks expression and looks unappealing

I guess sometimes it´s good thing to change style from pilot to final, but this was not the case.
The “final” intro you used technically isn’t the final. You used the beta intro. It has the final animation but the intro sounds different. I have the actual final posted

The final version's design choices were so attrocious for my taste i remember always switching channels the second it appeared, it was just too much

This show could have been good, but of course it had to be remade to the poorly animated, fart filled slop we got that did nothing but to “shock” you. I like the pilot cus it focuses more on dialogue comedy than in your face. It’s much better. It wasn’t great, but much better. And the pickle cutaways are actually pretty funny.
