The reason why Mantis was changed into a Cricket in the actual show is because I guess Nickelodeon had some weird rule that no TV shows have the same character since Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness had their own Mantis. I kinda weird since Adult Swim had Pickles from Dethklok and Mr. Pickles from Mr. Pickles.

This pilot is actually WAY better then the tv series itself, the animation isn't super ugly, the characters (sans Cricket/Mantis) are not unlikeable a**holes and the jokes are actually funny instead of annoying. Why didn't the creator go this route?
Mantis was definitely more enjoyable here instead of just constantly being horny basically every episode and his voice is much more enjoyable to listen to fitting the character quite nicely and the style is so much better. Plus not just relying on gross out humor the humor is actually funny. I understand why they wanted to change mantis to more of a cricket though because it does sound better but I feel like even then it would be one of those situations where it sounded more natural the longer it went on

It really saddens me that Nick gave up on this. This was an excellent series. I miss the days of getting so excited to see the premiere of a new episode. I think the majority of those who disliked the show were too used to simple and pandering programming, and basically shut this out based on the name. After some thought, I believe this show would've been the most successful on Adult Swim, with the stories tweaked to include more adult humor. Regardless, I love Pig Goat Banana Cricket, and I thank the entire crew of the show for creating such a vibrant, consistent, and funny series.
I really prefer this animation style compared to the final product. Also I think this would've been a great adult swim or a cn show for teens if it went a little more gross out.
I feel this is what cartoons should be, honestly. They should be slightly vulgar, slapstick/violent, gross, funny, and animated in a way it at least looks hand animated. Like the original powerpuff girls. Cartoons shouldn't be censored, parents need to monitor their kids. If you watch the cartoon with your kid, and monitor them, they won't act it out. You're supposed to be parents, the TV isn't supposed to parent your kid with cheaply animated boring bland factory made cartoons.
I'm hoping Nick can win people back with this, Bad Seeds, and/or The Loud House. The network itself may not be run well, but the people at its animation studio are a talented bunch that need more recognition. Sadly, the internet seems to have a rule these days that decrees "If it's on Nickelodeon, it automatically sucks," which is not true, even these days when it's not quite as great as it used to be. I mean, we still have Korra (for a while) and TMNT, right?

The animators at Titmouse are capable of great-looking stuff, but they likely went with something much simpler for Breadwinners just so it'd match the pilot (though they made some obvious improvements since that was made). I will admit they can still do a better job with it, but I did hear that Titmouse never really dealt with a show like it before, so that could be the problem. Fortunately, I also heard that they have a better understanding of it now since the second season pick-up, so perhaps season 2 will have a big jump up in animation quality. It's happened to other Nick shows of the past, after all (such as SpongeBob and The Mighty B!). And are you really going to play the "It's a clone of Regular Show!" card? It seems like with every new show that comes out, people are making some claim like that. It's getting annoying.

Plus, I've seen plenty of other shows in the past (Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and so on) do fart jokes the way these shows do them and I don't remember one person complaining about it. So no, the characters don't HAVE to be cringing more than the audience. It's a nice suggestion, but it's not a written rule. In fact, not all comedy has to be done a certain way. These shows wanna write fart jokes their own way? Let 'em do it. You don't like it? Too bad.
