- Well this was fun! We set out early for this surprise clean.. my auntie Dawn got the keys to her new home on Friday.. we arrived Monday morning at 8am. She had no clue we were coming, when I approached the door she was in the porch putting the dog's harness on! Luckily she was looking the other way I set the cameras up, and knocked on the door. Scared the life out of her, but dad's entertainment was the icing on the cake.

The fatsia japonica got a hammering too... I must admit i almost switched off witnessing those plants get mutilated but i had to remind myself that many people have no interest in gardening and I hope the bay tree recovers...
I have to agree, watching these type of channels, loads just cut stuff without even considering that it was better before and you can't or should just mutilate plants to show a concrete edge. Trimming yes, but this is too much. I get that many times they do it for people that really can't look after their plants but this obviously wasn't the case. Sad.
I always wonder if these guys on these channels have any real gardening or landscaping experience because they just butcher trees and hedges. I do love the parts where they pressure wash everything, though.
Not to mention cutting back a euphorbia with no gloves. Hope they didn’t get blisters.
I agree. Some of those plants were beautiful as they were, and aren’t improved.
The hard surfaces look fabulous but I’m not sure those butchered plants will recover 😂 Hope you have a lovely Christmas guys 🎉

Oh, be still my heart, your dad is the first person I have seen who actually trims a bush correctly, from the bottom up!!! I was very very happy to see that! I loved his elf outfit. Give the saw to him! And never cut more than a third of a tree at a time. So sorry, Ben, you can clean driveways any time, but I will do the pruning myself! So kind of you to give this gift to your aunt!

Yeah, went a bit heavy on the Bay Tree. The Lavender you ripped out near the gate might have recovered and be careful pruning Euphorbia ( 2.34 ) it releases a milky sap that will sting if you get it in your eyes. Merry Xmas/New Year to all. 🍻

I hope the neighbours didn’t mind you hacking down their shrubs. The fatsia japonica and the hebe were in the neighbours garden.
I’d also also warn your dad that the euphorbia he was cutting down releases a sap, which is very poisonous. You really need to take more care on the plant side of things. Be careful!!

You're entitled to cut back anything in your neighbour's garden which is encroaching onto your property ownership boundary.

Dad Paul slays me every time! Just when I think he's reached the pinnacle of his silliness, he tops himself and proves me wrong. I'm beginning to think he has no limits! 😂😂
What a difference! The cleaning revealed all those pretty colors, but I think the biggest (and most unexpected) improvement was in all the trimming! So much airier and more spacious! I was amazed at how overgrown it turned out to be. It hadn't looked like that much to me before you began and then wowsers!

Amazing transformation for your Auntie, have the driveway cleared and more room for vehicles. Then pressure washed to see it full of colours.

My thoughts exactly, way too severely trimmed back. 😢 the clean up is always excellent though. I personally would be upset if they were my plants as the garden has lost its mature character.

FINALLY!!!!! Someone who actually knows how to trim down bushes and hedges!!!! Hardly anyone else I’ve seen knows how to properly do it. Everyone is afraid or doesn’t know how to do it!! Drives me nuts!!! I can’t stand when hedges or bushes are encroaching into walkways or anywhere for that matter and nobody trims them down nearly enough!!! So thank you so much.. great to see

Wow, that mud sucker does abreast job. That’s what I need today. It is scary minus 35 in BC, Canada at the moment. My water is running free but the drains are frozen so I have water backing up all over my house. I need spring!

There seems to be no end to the crazy paving drives & patios in your neck of the woods. Whether or not you like them, one things for sure, they've lasted really well over time, still as solid as when installed, especially once you've cleaned them to unveil all the coloured highlights that make you wonder about how tastes & trends have changed

I love your videos, transformations and sheer utter from the heart kindness so I've been wrestling with myself over whether to say anything over the tree massacre 😮
Trees give great shelter to birds and other wildlife especially in the winter so whilst beautifully neat and tidy after your dramatic prune it was a little too severe for the time of year and probably at any time of year.
I've got to be honest it is so very easy to get carried away whilst pruning, I've done it myself, but most especially in the winter all i ask is be aware you can do some long term damage by cutting back so dramatically. As we're not due an imminent frost you'll hopefully get away with it.
Again I'm sorry I hate to be critical as i just love what you do but hopefully there's a book on tree pruning under your Christmas tree.
