  • This year (2nd year of flower farming), I decided to launch a small scale CSA. I talk details about:
    **Description/ how I marketed the CSA
    **How I found customers
    **Logistics
    **Pricing
    My CSA will continue to evolve and there are so many ways to structure a CSA, so this is just my personal experience!

    Can you do a video that goes in depth regarding your use of square space? How you set up your site, the different pages, payment/shopping cart etc.

    First year farmer here in zone 8b SC. I have learned so much for your videos! Love that you bring in the numbers and really get transparent and granular. Thanks for all,you do (with a baby!)

    Still binge watching your videos. Got to thinking about how many times I have spent $100+ on delivery of a single arrangement from a florist for a special occasion (only for that person to get cheaper substitutions from what I requested and paid for). If there was a floral subscription service available nearby, that same recipient, for just a bit more would received 6 specialty flower bouquets over a much longer period that weren’t just daisies and carnation filler. Bet everyone’s mom would love that gift!

      So true! I do find that alot of my subscribers are everyday folks who just in enjoy flowers in their homes. They're not aware of the difference in specialty flowers that we're growing vs what they'd get at the florist, so definitely a bit of educating on my part that I do there!

      Is cat mint the same as cat nip?

    Gorgeous bouquets! Can you also share how many stems go into one bouquet?

    • @bareflowerfarm
      @bareflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These were pretty loaded! There were around 20 stems with the majority of them being sweet william. About 3-4 foxglove in each and 3 snaps/verbascum

  • @spiritranger9202
    @spiritranger9202 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those bouquets are VERY pretty! Do you ask for payment for the full season (6 bouquets) at he beginning of the season or do you have them pay the $25 weekly?

    • @bareflowerfarm
      @bareflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Payment is taken online for the full season (including taxes). This gives the customer more "skin in the game" but also keeps the spirit of a CSA, which is fronting up cash to help you pay for seeds, equipment, etc. In a true CSA, it is a risk/cost sharing program. So if you have an amazing season, you reward the member with more blooms. And if you have a horrific natural disaster, the customer bears the burden by not getting anything.

    I am also in zone 6b northeast pa. I tried 3 varieties stick baker creek waiting for blooms. How did you get verbascum to bloom so early what varsity is that?

    • @bareflowerfarm
      @bareflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s southern charm. It was overwintered which is why it bloomed already

    What do you use to wrap your bouquets? Are they premade bouquet wrap sleeves or do you wrap them yourself using kraft paper?

    • @bareflowerfarm
      @bareflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These are premade sleeves from Aroo. For year 1, I made my own sleeves but transitioned to these after I was doing 20 bouquets at a given time. They are definitely worth it in my view for the time saved and for the fact that they are coated in a thin liner so that if water hits the paper, it doesn't disintegrate!
