Dwight Madden beautifully said. Thank you! I met him in 1987, and would visit with him after his shows in my part of the world. Almost didn’t make it backstage one night, but by the grace of God, I did. That was the last time I saw him. We spoke by phone 6 weeks before he died. He was a humble, gentle, loving soul, and so happy to finally be clean and sober. There will never be another like him.❤️ Donna
Your reactions are priceless, girl. Glad you liked it. Been a fan of his since he hit the big time in the 80's. Was a sad summer day when I heard that he'd died. We were at a swimming hole (with a tire swing) and car doors open when they announced it over the radio. R.I.P. Riviera Paradise is a great instrumental, and his version of The Sky is Crying is my favorite (love to sing it when performing out.) His "Live Alive" album is energy. Have fun!
There is nothing like music leaving you speechless.. When something moves you so much you just have to be quiet and reflect on what you just heard. I live for these moments …
I love how every initial reaction to srv is the same as mine.. he made the impossible look easy. He did what Hendrix did and took it a step further by Crossing genres and really having no limits as to what he’d touch musically. You just get taken back when you hear either of those to.
On the short list of best guitar players ever but he could also sing very well. And was an ever better human being. Very modest guy that overcame a lot. A very soulful person.
My favourite piece of music ever. I listened to it over and over the night he died crying like a baby for about 3 hours. I am still devastated to this day.
All SRV fans its easy to 1 up somebody after tsking his licks and practicing them for 20 years then add a couple of extra notes but even this version is all JIMI'S solos
before I watch I just wanna say glad you're back at it! your bright smile has a positive affect and always puts me in a better mood. plus Stevie was a true gift to us! not many artists have the skill and ability show us their soul, he did!
I grew up with SRV. (My Mamma's from Texas.) Every Saturday morning during high school it was my wake up call. For karate class. No, really. (Graduated HS in '95.) My mom had tickets for the concert he was to perform post helicopter ride... This is my favorite. I see you feel it too. So nice to be able to share it with someone else. :)
I along with a lot of other folks missed you so much!!!! Good to see your beautiful smile and hope you are doing well. Stevie Ray is just one of the best. Pick any song....
SRV Live at the El Mocambo is the best live music performance of its time and still holds today. Stevie and Double Trouble were on fire that night. The first minute alone with Testify will knock your freaking socks off 👍
If you have not listened to SRV Rivera Paradise please do. The story behind the song This is a soulful instrumental. After a full day of recording material for the album, Stevie asked his producer to leave the tape running and to turn down the lights. All alone, he recorded the guitar track on his Fender Strat. Double Trouble added the backing later, including an organ foundation from Reese Wynans. On the Austin City Limits performance, Stevie introduced this by saying it was "For all the hurting people in the world."

Wish everybody could have lived that. Keep rocking pink!

More SRV, less pinkmetalhead! Best blues player EVER! I saw him 6 times including his last show at Alpine Valley Wisconsin, and he was brilliant every single time. RIP to a legend.
No hate. Hendrix and SRV are actually quite different in their approach to playing. They're so different that I think comparisons of who is better than whom are nonsense. SRV was obviously a huge fan of Hendrix and it's great that he played the music for all of us. Not many can do it, at all.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is a caliber of guitarists in line with Steve Vai, Randy Rhodes and Ty Tabor (of King's X) that have transcended being masters of their instruments and became ONE WITH their instruments. Absolute raw emotion pours from their fingers. Guitarists like that are very few and far between.
It's Great to see your Smile Lighting Up TH-cam again! And since you're back how about reacting to some Scorpions? Great German Rock band w/ Power Ballads and Heavy Riffs! You'll Totally Dig them! Peace Your Pinkness!
It's funny that you realized that about his hands! Stevie Ray Vaughan had hands that were so powerful that the steel strings on his guitar were 14-gauge and he still broke them. He could manhandle a six string and make it do anything he wanted it to.
Stevie was his own class of musician. His recordings keep a little bit of heaven on earth after his passing. I highly recommend you listen to the studio version of Robin Trower's Too Rolling Stoned as well :)
Stevie set the standard for covering Jimi. If you know a bunch of Hendrix tunes, you'll always hear pieces of other songs in there. Honestly though, for me, I'd suggest that you get a listen to "Life By the Drop." It's a simple 12-bar blues done solely on an acoustic 12-string guitar as the last song on his posthumous album, "The Sky is Crying," which is compromised of a bunch of songs that never made it into his first four studio albums. I'll pick that song any day, because it's sad, simple and sweet, and really the perfect last thing to hear from a guy who could tear it up, but was ultimately just a guy who loved and played the Blues. I sit back sometimes when I hear his music and can't fathom that he's been gone for 27 years.
So many wonder why he's considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time... this, Voodoo Child, Tin Pan Alley, Couldn't Stand the Weather, Texas Flood, Cold Shot, Little Sister, and so many more songs in his catalogue to choose from to find out. Love your reactions!
Little Wing is my favorite SRV song, second would be Texas Flood. It's sad that he got his life together, got clean from cocaine and alcohol, got married only to die in a freak helicopter crash
I’m glad you didn’t stop doing this over a few idiots.Of all the reaction” personalities” now, none get moved emotionally like you over great stuff. That’s what separates you from them.
sure its not ledbelly? hes an old bluesman from the 1920's they called him ledbelly cause he got stabbed in prison and lived then the gov. gave him a pardon for murder cause he sang and played guitar so well

Hey Pink. Love your reactions - I’m a bit of a latecomer to them. I’ve seen a good few others, but your’s are special. “Breakdancing” - lol 😊😄😊. He’s brushing his hands and fingers over the strings, just barely touching them. This stops them vibrating and sounding the core note, and leaves just the harmonics, the internal vibrations of the strings themselves. You get different harmonics depending on where you touch them. But he does it so quickly and casually, bearing in mind that you have to be very precise. He’s amazing.
You are so observant ! The first comment about his hands immediately made me respect your opinion. His hands, and the sounds he could produce from them ,were from his guitar set up ,super high action , the thickest strings possible . Another fantastic v interpretation of this amazing Jimi Hendrix composition is on the album Layla , Eric and Duane playing at their best
Ya gotta love SRV. One of my math teachers in high school was at the famous El Mocambo gig in 1983 and got one of Stevie's picks, which he showed us in class one day. Usually when they show footage of SRV in documentaries and stuff it's usually from that show as it was professionally filmed.
God wanted guitar lessons....so he brought Stevie Ray home......
That was beautiful.
GOD: "Everyone get to the chopper!"
I hate it when people compare Stevie Ray to God, I mean, he's great and everything, but he ain't no Stevie Ray!
What a beautiful sentiment.
Sounds good. But god made SRV. SOOOOO. AH NO!!

That performance is just stunning. Smooth AF. You also MUST see the mind-blowing "Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (from Live at the El Mocambo)"
texas flood is one you should chk out next!..pure blues!
Hell yes. Texas Flood has a sweet guitar solo.
If you do it should be Texas flood Tokyo just saying
I'm partial to "Couldn't Stand the Weather"
Being a Texan, both songs hit close to home. Lol
Another Texas guitar slinger to pay attention to would be Willie Nelson and his guitar trigger no one plays music quite like he does
absolutely

SRV simply the best.

Great performance! I always cry when I hear/watch him play, because he is just that good. His spirit lives on.
Little sister live is awesome. Hey breaks a string, keeps playing, switches guitars, and never misses a note. Just awesome.
One of the few who can cover Jimi and not embarrass themselves
Exactly
Steve Vai and Alan Holdsworth too
Stevie brings tears to the eyes, a whole lot of emotion vibing through the strings.
greatest guitarist to ever live imo

Abe Gibron totally agree. And I’ve said for many years that srv could be the most underrated blues vocalists.
He was the truth. He was the best ever
SRV Riviera Paradise. Its the most calming song you will hear.
Andy Guy CantYouLift I agree
ABSOLUTELY!!!

Right up there for sure.
Or Lenny

Welcome back Beautiful, happy to see you again! Love to see that smile!
You just experienced the best blues you will ever see in you life. PERIOD!!!
The only artist to do a Hendrix tune better than Hendrix, SRV was an absolute beast....
And Jimi didn't write All Along the Watchtower but I bet you consider his version to be the best.
That's sacrilege to say that
Andrew k Adams
Not quite, SRV’s version of “Voodoo Chile” far outshines Hendrix’s version...
Charles Ewing Smith no shit Sherlock, you upset because Stevie could do it better than that shit guitarist that wrote it??? lmfao

great to have her back :)
I have never been able to figure out how he can play at triple the tempo of the bass and drums and make it work.....GENIUS !
HE'S A BEAST!!
Brother Vaughan was the best there ever was. I don't care how many times i hear this song it still runs me through every emotion i have. RIP SRV
The Devil met Stevie at the Crossroads, and sold his own soul to learn to play like that.
SRV gets soooooo much luv and rightly so BUT we GOT to give super props to his band...That drummer - that bass player....bad boys! bad bad boys!!!
So happy your back!!!!!!

Jimi Hendrix Little Wing inspiration for Pearl Jam Yellow Ledbetter
Oooohhh, Yellow Ledbetter is a great song!
yes it is. Mike McCready said it was heavily inspired by it. one of my favorite songs of all time.
I used to think they were the same song when i was younger :D

His hands, and the sounds he could produce from them ,were from his guitar set up ,super high action , the thickest strings possible . Another fantastic v interpretation of this amazing Jimi Hendrix composition is on the album Layla , Eric and Duane playing at their best
Ya gotta love SRV. One of my math teachers in high school was at the famous El Mocambo gig in 1983 and got one of Stevie's picks, which he showed us in class one day. Usually when they show footage of SRV in documentaries and stuff it's usually from that show as it was professionally filmed.
