I remember walking into Afterlife after a few gigs. Sat down and talked to Claire and was browsing the menu. Saw the named drinks and bought Jackie's. But then i saw the David Martinez. Wondering when id ever hear his story. Pour one out for the Cyberpunks. Especially you Dee. This show was a masterpiece honestly.
I was expecting David to die, obviously. Becoming a legend in Night City only ends one way -- and there's never a happy ending for anyone unless you're a Corporation. But, *Christ* -- it was so hard seeing it all come crashing down. Rebecca getting crushed by Smasher, Maine going cyberpsycho, Pilar getting his head blown open, and David losing that duel at the bottom of Arasaka tower. It really goes to show that despite the gloss and sci-fi intensity, Cyberpunk is still, ultimately, a _dystopia_ -- where the good ending was the world where this one never came to be.

This was an absolutely amazing show. The characters and their story are really well written. And the way lucy and David's relationship forms and the way they look at each other. Omg 10/10

I really wish we got to spend more time with the characters. For me it went by way too fast and even felt abit rushed at some points towards the end. I blinked and 3 characters i started to get interested or even attached to were dead already. Show is still a masterpiece though
David Martinez, a kid who was out of place, found his place on the off chance of a meeting with a Edgerunner, who gave his life meaning after being listless and lost. I’m the span of a year, he went from nothing to something, forever remembered in the Afterlife, his name listed among other legends whose lights were snuffed out just as fast. Just one story remembered among the countless forgotten. Absolutely Nova Choom!

@@CianaCorto Ngl, somewhere at the back of my head, I'd imagine that they still managed to extract David's consciousness out of his lifeless body... he was "built different" after all. That would be a fun 2nd season to explore. But quite honestly, I think they left this show with an already good enough closure. My only hope is that CDPR and Studio Trigger continue to craft more shows based on the world of Cyberpunk. Maybe even make passing mentions of the characters from Edgerunners, but have a completely different cast and story. Since Edgerunners mostly focused on the Street Kid life, it would be cool to also see a new series around either Nomads or Corpo life.

Man it's such a small moment and I don't know why, but I absolutely LOVE when David is following Lucy on the moon and she does that little hand beckon thing. There's so much meaning behind just that one small gesture. Such a great show.

Obviously this is subjective but I'm sure there are certainly shows that are objectively better but man this show just hit me harder than I thought it would. Maybe it was a mix of the animation, characterization, music or whatever but it just continues to stick with me. Hilarious that I don't remember all the action (which was still great) nearly as much as I do just the connection between David and Lucy.
It was a scene of episode 2 and that's when I got the first goosebump when she forcefully grabbed david's hand nonetheless. Felt like i would have reacted the same as David hesitated a lil bit first and then throw himself anyway. Small yet so relatable scene.
David and Lucy are one of the most believable couples in any show I've seen. Absolute true love. Really wish they went with a 24 format instead.. i want their relationship to be fleshed out more so bad
They really gave me David and Megan vibes from the Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson. Especially now, after several seasons of The Boys, people should find it appealing. Give Steelheart a read if you liked this pairing!

even though it was really good with just 10 episodes, it really feels like we didnt have enough time to get to know the characters, well at least most of the crew that died in the first 6 episodes
Visited the spotswhere they sit on the roof waited and got a really good screenshot although the rock is hard to find but I'd like to sit there too because who thought an anime adaptation could make some scenery in a game more beautiful and Enjoyable

you know, i shed tears to this several times but i just had my first sitting where i didnt break down and instead just appreciated the beauty of the story and the characters. Here's to hoping eventually you can watch this with a smile rather than with tears

Maybe I'm weird, but I like how they made it in 10 episodes. Maybe it's short, but it's buckin rollercoaster of emotions. It's intense just like night city should be and it's better that way.
Yeah it's refreshing. I finished the chimera ant arc of HxH a few weeks ago and there were like SIX episodes that spanned THREE minutes of time in the show.
I love it. A nice change. 10 episodes was just the right amount of clusterfuck of feels to get you. This shit made a 23 year old man cry. They did it really well.
It hurts like shit. In just 10 days,I saw these characters fall in love,survive,die. The relationship between David and Lucy is just fabulous. Lucy going for that kiss. David and lucy sacrificing for each other. Man,this hurts to see this. Everything went so fast. This story is like,you never know when your character will die. Just instantaenous,like Becca.
By the end of the end of the day when they showed David's skin self on the moon, it was actually the innocent David. You can't help to feel bad for them for the path they took and consequence of taking that part. It was just sad seeing a promising child fall into a bad group. A really heartbreaking and befitting end to a story full of choices that let to a tragic conclusion.
Wasn't even really that bad of a group honestly. David had a handful of mental/emotional issues that were only made worst in the situation he got into. The group definitely wasn't good for him really. But hot damn did he make it work.
He didn't fall into a bad group; he was born into a bad society. At least the crew enabled him to form some real human connections, even find love. Without his mother, killed by that society, he probably would've just gone cyberpsycho sooner without them.
the ending of the show when it showed kid david on the moon with lucy and how far he had gone from the promising, bright, top of his class, innocent kid to what he had come to was so sad to see. There are no happy endings in Night City and this show presented that perfectly 10/10 banger
Lucy didnt want to tell david what she was up to, because she was saving david from arasaka from behind the scenes. Thats how much lucy loved david, and this lesson teaches us that you should communicate with your partner, no matter what. David misunderstood lucy and thought she didnt want him until he wanted to break up and he slowly lost himself. The only way david coped up with the sadness is with chrome and immunoboosters(drugs). All david wanted was to be with lucy during gigs. This breaks my heart 💔💔💔 and at the end david showed lucy how much he loved her.

He wouldn't achieve her moon dream cuz lack of money. So the only way he can make money for the trip is to continue the dangerous gigs. Not to mentioned his guilt from his mom and Maine. That is the only way he stayed sane. But Lucy knew it and tried her best to make him stay. Ultimately, her dream and his guilt lead to what he is now. U can say that this is the only way he can die a legend.
When i finished watching it which was 2 days ago i really wanted to talk about it with someone but have no one to talk to and it made me feel even more bad anyways i completely agree
In many ways to me, this show feels like the anime equivalent of the Titanic movie. A tale of a beautiful bond of true love that tragically is not meant to be. Jack sacrifices his life for Rose and wishes her to live a long life full of adventure and happiness. And though I'm sure she spent every moment wishing Jack had been by her side, Rose fulfilled his wish and live a full life for both their sakes. David ultimately did the same, sacrificing himself for Lucy and wishing for her to live her dream. She finally makes her long-desired trip to the moon and though she misses him dearly, her love for David makes her remember the good times and I like to think that she goes on to live a full and happy life for both their sakes, perhaps one day having her own "Old Rose" moment where she tells someone the story of David Martinez and how he saved her "in every way a person can be saved". Beautiful show with beautiful music to match.

Downfall seems more like it was their older netrunner friends fault if I recall... Randomly turning on them, then changing her mind after coming to her senses... Sold Lucy out, and pushed david into the trap... Pathetic really seeing how long the friendship was, and having at least one friend group you can actually trust would be invaluable in a city like that, but she was the weak link. Probably some of the most trustworthy people she could have had, yet she preached about not trusting, yet it was her that was the problem. =/
I’d argue it was also Maine’s unintentional fault it escalated to the level it did. He took on Faraday’s job for the majority of the show’s run, and his inability to keep his psychosis condition in check had him force Lucy to take on Kiwi’s job when he knocked her out, and then she, out of panic and from her PTSD, desperately went out of her way to protect David when finding out about Arasaka’s plans. It may have never gotten to this level if Lucy didn’t take the job. Night City’s truly a psychologically dangerous place.

When I heard about Edgerunners, I was looking forward to watching an anime series based on a video game I liked. I didn't expect to watch a masterpiece. Nice AMV OP.
No matter how many times I watch the series I always end up holding in my tears like it’s genuinely a masterpiece of a show and I’d recommend watching it first if y’all ever decide to play cyberpunk 2077
It's all about finding this one special person, who gets you. That's why even anime can brake your heart into pieces and grab you deep into depression.... No happy ending here, but at least the journey was spectacular... Amazing piece of art. After finishing V's story, I thought nothing else can hit me so hard, but this one did...
Played Cyberpunk 2077 consistently then finally saw the anime and really enjoyed it. I started a new game recently and did a gig, only to hear This Song, playing in the background and I froze and legit got misty eye'd. It made me really appreciate the writing of the anime.
Favorite small thing you see so well with these kind of videos is how silly and carefree Lucy seems at the beginning of the show and, then how she gets throughout as she realizes she has something she could lose.
I hope this show gave project red what they were looking for. People are seeing how much of a beauty the world and characters they create are. Cyberpunk is a gem. Cheers to the legend Dee 🍻
This show made me cry. I don't cry. I haven't cried really much at all in years. This show hit me in a very personal spot. This show has taught me that its okay to have dreams even if those dreams maybe someone else's, it taught me that its okay to try and fulfill those dreams as long as your happy.
Man, what a show. I can’t believe how fast I got connected to the characters considering it was only 10 episodes. Every single episode was incredible and every single death it hard. Especially the last one. I feel empty now. There’s only one real way out of night city…..
David stopped caring about what happens to him after his mother's death, but he couldn't stop caring about the people he loves. That combination is what made him so special and why he was able to endure the side-effects of cyberware better than anyone else. The tragic thing is, all that Lucy ever really wanted is to be with David. She cared about him a lot more than going to the Moon. In fact, she only wants to leave Night City because she knows the city corrupts and kills everyone she ever cared about. David also knows that in Night City Lucy will never be truly happy or safe and so he decided to go all in - regardless of the consequences to his own well-being. He would save her and was ready to pay for it with his life!
They really outdid themselves with this series! So phenomenal animations, actions ,charactrers, music and story. It's real when the protagonist dies and it's like reall not a firytale where everything ends well.
I didn't cry watching the show but seeing all these fan creations and reading all the comments about how others felt watching, gives me the craziest goosebumps I've ever had in my life
it was created just for fun but it blew up and I'm so thankful to everyone for the kind supports .....Now it really motivates me to try to make another one.
I'm honestly quite impressed and surprised that they went with a love story being one of the leading motives/elements in the story, while the entire setting and story is based around the brutal Night City, and generally the life & struggles in it, the story just wouldn't have the same impact without showing the viewer what's at stake, and how impossible it is to obtain - love, and maybe even more, a struggle to live a normal life. That's the part of the show that suddenly draws all of us in, although regular life isn't really comparable to the life in NC, humans go through similar struggles, no matter the time period, whether it's trying to be free back in medievil times, slavery, suffrage and so on, humans are always face with struggles.
I can’t stop crying every time I hear the music or see them together or them on the moon! God this show was amazing but I haven’t cried this much since a silent voice broke me. What I’d give to find a way to let David and Lucy get away from the city and go to the moon. To let them be happy and love each other! Fuck this cuts me up 😭😭😭

The creators of Edgerunners showed CDPR how Cyberpunk 2077 was meant to be originally! I am really glad such a beautiful show was made which inspired gamers to go back to the game. Edgerunners is truly a masterpiece!
The intro song gets you pumped for the episode, but then you get hit with an emotional trainwreck of a song like this and you know how the story will go.. but you have to keep going
One thing I discovered while watching the show is that the style of Trigger is in fact not my thing. I kept thinking "Damn ! Production I.G would have been a better studio choice" (obviously not based on their CGI endeavours lol) but the story was so fucking awesome I stayed anyways. There's this kind of "floating melancholy" and "poesy in violence" that japanese anime are always so good at. I even think the story would have deserved to be as awsomly animated as Akira. Anyways, great AMV.
I think another tragic thing was seeing how much davids body was destroyed over the course of the series. Just seeing a mostly mechanical torso waiting to have different limbs attached was depressing when the cyberskeleton was being fitted.
I watched this during Edgerunner’s release, when I felt a desire to watch an AMV with this song. I know the Official music video released a month later (likely for spoilers), but I wanna thank you for filling a need.

Obviously this is subjective but I'm sure there are certainly shows that are objectively better but man this show just hit me harder than I thought it would. Maybe it was a mix of the animation, characterization, music or whatever but it just continues to stick with me. Hilarious that I don't remember all the action (which was still great) nearly as much as I do just the connection between David and Lucy.
It was a scene of episode 2 and that's when I got the first goosebump when she forcefully grabbed david's hand nonetheless. Felt like i would have reacted the same as David hesitated a lil bit first and then throw himself anyway. Small yet so relatable scene.

even though it was really good with just 10 episodes, it really feels like we didnt have enough time to get to know the characters, well at least most of the crew that died in the first 6 episodes

Maybe I'm weird, but I like how they made it in 10 episodes. Maybe it's short, but it's buckin rollercoaster of emotions. It's intense just like night city should be and it's better that way.

Yeah it's refreshing. I finished the chimera ant arc of HxH a few weeks ago and there were like SIX episodes that spanned THREE minutes of time in the show.

By the end of the end of the day when they showed David's skin self on the moon, it was actually the innocent David. You can't help to feel bad for them for the path they took and consequence of taking that part.
It was just sad seeing a promising child fall into a bad group. A really heartbreaking and befitting end to a story full of choices that let to a tragic conclusion.
Wasn't even really that bad of a group honestly. David had a handful of mental/emotional issues that were only made worst in the situation he got into. The group definitely wasn't good for him really. But hot damn did he make it work.
least he died like a legend choom.
There are no happy endings in Night City choom... but some at least want to be remembered.
He didn't fall into a bad group; he was born into a bad society. At least the crew enabled him to form some real human connections, even find love. Without his mother, killed by that society, he probably would've just gone cyberpsycho sooner without them.

the ending of the show when it showed kid david on the moon with lucy and how far he had gone from the promising, bright, top of his class, innocent kid to what he had come to was so sad to see. There are no happy endings in Night City and this show presented that perfectly 10/10 banger

Lucy didnt want to tell david what she was up to, because she was saving david from arasaka from behind the scenes. Thats how much lucy loved david, and this lesson teaches us that you should communicate with your partner, no matter what. David misunderstood lucy and thought she didnt want him until he wanted to break up and he slowly lost himself. The only way david coped up with the sadness is with chrome and immunoboosters(drugs). All david wanted was to be with lucy during gigs. This breaks my heart 💔💔💔 and at the end david showed lucy how much he loved her.
Right it's so sad, I can't help but think with better communication they'd both be on the moon together right now 😔

That is the only way he stayed sane. But Lucy knew it and tried her best to make him stay. Ultimately, her dream and his guilt lead to what he is now. U can say that this is the only way he can die a legend.

In many ways to me, this show feels like the anime equivalent of the Titanic movie. A tale of a beautiful bond of true love that tragically is not meant to be. Jack sacrifices his life for Rose and wishes her to live a long life full of adventure and happiness. And though I'm sure she spent every moment wishing Jack had been by her side, Rose fulfilled his wish and live a full life for both their sakes. David ultimately did the same, sacrificing himself for Lucy and wishing for her to live her dream. She finally makes her long-desired trip to the moon and though she misses him dearly, her love for David makes her remember the good times and I like to think that she goes on to live a full and happy life for both their sakes, perhaps one day having her own "Old Rose" moment where she tells someone the story of David Martinez and how he saved her "in every way a person can be saved". Beautiful show with beautiful music to match.

Technically it goes both ways, she did everything possible to protect David but at the end she fell for the trap and there begins the downward spiral😔
Downfall seems more like it was their older netrunner friends fault if I recall... Randomly turning on them, then changing her mind after coming to her senses... Sold Lucy out, and pushed david into the trap... Pathetic really seeing how long the friendship was, and having at least one friend group you can actually trust would be invaluable in a city like that, but she was the weak link. Probably some of the most trustworthy people she could have had, yet she preached about not trusting, yet it was her that was the problem. =/
I’d argue it was also Maine’s unintentional fault it escalated to the level it did.
He took on Faraday’s job for the majority of the show’s run, and his inability to keep his psychosis condition in check had him force Lucy to take on Kiwi’s job when he knocked her out, and then she, out of panic and from her PTSD, desperately went out of her way to protect David when finding out about Arasaka’s plans. It may have never gotten to this level if Lucy didn’t take the job.
Night City’s truly a psychologically dangerous place.

Played Cyberpunk 2077 consistently then finally saw the anime and really enjoyed it. I started a new game recently and did a gig, only to hear This Song, playing in the background and I froze and legit got misty eye'd. It made me really appreciate the writing of the anime.

This show made me cry. I don't cry. I haven't cried really much at all in years. This show hit me in a very personal spot. This show has taught me that its okay to have dreams even if those dreams maybe someone else's, it taught me that its okay to try and fulfill those dreams as long as your happy.
Man, what a show. I can’t believe how fast I got connected to the characters considering it was only 10 episodes. Every single episode was incredible and every single death it hard. Especially the last one. I feel empty now. There’s only one real way out of night city…..

David stopped caring about what happens to him after his mother's death, but he couldn't stop caring about the people he loves. That combination is what made him so special and why he was able to endure the side-effects of cyberware better than anyone else. The tragic thing is, all that Lucy ever really wanted is to be with David. She cared about him a lot more than going to the Moon. In fact, she only wants to leave Night City because she knows the city corrupts and kills everyone she ever cared about. David also knows that in Night City Lucy will never be truly happy or safe and so he decided to go all in - regardless of the consequences to his own well-being. He would save her and was ready to pay for it with his life!
They really outdid themselves with this series! So phenomenal animations, actions ,charactrers, music and story. It's real when the protagonist dies and it's like reall not a firytale where everything ends well.

I'm honestly quite impressed and surprised that they went with a love story being one of the leading motives/elements in the story, while the entire setting and story is based around the brutal Night City, and generally the life & struggles in it, the story just wouldn't have the same impact without showing the viewer what's at stake, and how impossible it is to obtain - love, and maybe even more, a struggle to live a normal life. That's the part of the show that suddenly draws all of us in, although regular life isn't really comparable to the life in NC, humans go through similar struggles, no matter the time period, whether it's trying to be free back in medievil times, slavery, suffrage and so on, humans are always face with struggles.
Yeah, it's a perfect contrast.

The intro song gets you pumped for the episode, but then you get hit with an emotional trainwreck of a song like this and you know how the story will go.. but you have to keep going
One thing I discovered while watching the show is that the style of Trigger is in fact not my thing. I kept thinking "Damn ! Production I.G would have been a better studio choice" (obviously not based on their CGI endeavours lol) but the story was so fucking awesome I stayed anyways. There's this kind of "floating melancholy" and "poesy in violence" that japanese anime are always so good at. I even think the story would have deserved to be as awsomly animated as Akira.
Anyways, great AMV.
I think another tragic thing was seeing how much davids body was destroyed over the course of the series. Just seeing a mostly mechanical torso waiting to have different limbs attached was depressing when the cyberskeleton was being fitted.
I watched this during Edgerunner’s release, when I felt a desire to watch an AMV with this song.
