    ii started doing sumo stiff leg deadlifts lately and they feel really good, adductors get really good work.

  • @md5612s
    @md5612s 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m a conventional puller and I usually go with a conjugate style approach, max effort deadlift variation one week then a dynamic deadlift the next which is usually banded speed work. This has been working well for me but I’ve been noticing some extra fatigue in my lower back as of lately and I do round at maximal loads. Which makes me think my hamstrings and bracing can use some work.
    Would you say stiff legged deadlifts make a good alternative if I don’t choose to do a conventional deadlift one week? Trying to steer away from the conjugate style and find something more sustainable haha. Thank you!! Love the content.

      I think if you are steering away from conjugate, a great place to start would be not rotating exercises every week. But yes. They would be a close variation.

      @@BrazosValleyStrength np! what are your thoughts on block pulls as the primary deadlift in a hypertrophy block?

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t normally use them unless I had a very specific reason.

    Very interesting thoughts on the stiff legged. You just made me view them in a whole new way, and I now love them even more.
    If I had an unrelated question (relating to one of your programs I am running) where’s the best place I can get a response?

      @@BrazosValleyStrength I’m a tall lifter with bad conventional leverages and my volume capacity is pretty terrible. On your power building program the 5x5 is super rough and my fatigue gets in the way of me moving significant weight. Should I continue and try to adapt or reduce the volume a bit?
      I’m also on my second powerlifting block so I don’t have much consistency with my conventional deadlift. Should I switch to sumo before mastering conventional?

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The answer here is that I don’t know. The programs were not written for you, they were only written for me. It’s tough more me to give you specific advice without actually being hands on.
      But if it feels too hard then reduce load, lower RPE/percentages, or change exercises in a way that feels appropriate for you. Beyond that, any answer I have is just guessing.

    Have you ever experimented with good mornings as a supplemental hip hinge? Any thoughts on them?

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yea and I think either one of these would work way better. Not that good mornings are “bad” but my feeling is so much of the value on RDLs and SLDLs is the upper back stuff. Not just fighting for extension, but fighting to maintain that posture while your arms stretch.
      Good mornings can certainly work your hamstrings well, but anecdotally, the demands in the low back fighting for extension end up a ton higher and end up reducing some of the effort we would like to emphasize other places.

    I don't even need to watch the video; this one is easy. RDL's blow up your posterior chain and SLDL's hurt and are hard. So, clearly, RDL'S.

      SLDL are best for increasing your 1RM during a peak, while RDLs are king for overal hypertrophy.
