    Very off topic question. But been a fan for a long time and know in the beginning most of your t-nation logs had you doing full body workout 4x a week. What was the impetus towards moving towards 1 main lift a day seen in most of your free programs?

    Can't I just do the Nordic glute ham raise with the barbell and just put on 25s instead so my legs will fit in there? Because that's what I'm about to do LOL I completely forgot about accessory exercises I feel like a fool I used to deadlift 550 now I'm at 3 7 0 granted lost 120 lb and this is only my third deadlift in 2 years
    Edit ok that works if youre heavy or large but the feet under a fixture is better

    Hey Brian could you please cover low back pain after deadlift?
    Currently doing your program, and during sets my lowback was so tight and after last set I couldn't do anything...and now low back is in pain((
    Trying to find problem maybe you have something to say)
    Thank you!!!

    • @otka4al4o
      @otka4al4o 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anyone is going to struggle to pinpoint exactly why you are having lower back pain without actually seeing how you deadlift. You could be losing tightness in your core or you could be finishing the movement with your lower back rather than squeezing your glutes. Those are just guesses, I am by no means a PT but good luck

    • @frodothehobo9938
      @frodothehobo9938 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is your technique? If your technique and bracing is on point, which it is probably not. No offense. Most people do not brace hard enough. Assuming you do. You need to decompress your spine probably. You can google a bunch of ways to do that

    • @losthoglifting9684
      @losthoglifting9684 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reverse hypers bro. Light and high rep let the legs go under the machine to decompress the spine. Hang from a pull up bar. Decompress bro

    • @atemiq
      @atemiq 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot!!!))
      Well I had problems in past with tightness but couldn't find the reason. For example the week before this happened I did same weight (same routine) and felt nothing.
      Every time tightness appear I would immediately jump on rowing machine or heavy bag, 10 min and it's dissappear.
      I quess you all are right, technique is an issue...

    • @atemiq
      @atemiq 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeap reverse hypers helped too.
      Anyway need some weeks to recover.
      Also I think that touch and go deadlifts bring this up. Usually last 2-3 times are hard and technically body breaks up.

      NML1986 At what bodyweight and training history? It can literally be really really good or absolute rubbish depending. You're quite a lot stronger than the average8 guy, a bit stronger than the average guy who gyms, not that strong for someone who is 100± kilos and has been training for over a year, and just plain weak compared to a competitive lifter. Even Eddie Hall is weak compared to an elephant or a whale, it is all relative.

    hey man I just had a crazy hard squat session, had to do 5×5 and the first set felt incedibly heavy, now you may ask yourself "why is he telling me that", well long story short I didn't believe I was gonna do three sets but I made all five. After the first set I kinda had to think about you running around yelling "decide who you want to be" whenever someone's going for something big and I had to think about your adaptive athletes and how hard it must be for them and I just kept squatting until the work was done. I guess the moral of the story is you're a pretty performance enhancing dude and I'm glad I know you.

      Josh Johnston amazing how fast this program is bringing strength up for sure. I hit a 425 with snatch grip today which is a 20lb pr for any style of dead

    • @joshjohnston7388
      @joshjohnston7388 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Losthog: lifting my numbers are lousy, but my goal is 2/4/6/8 plates. I'm just over 140 lbs bw. I'm older too. So my ohp has been stalled for 6 months, but it's the closest to goal (85% of) of all my lifts. My bench is getting pretty close and I hit my 1rm for a single with a 3 second pause at the bottom last week Thursday. DL and squat need the most help, but I can reliably set a 10 or 15 pound pr on those every 12 weeks, so I just gotta keep on keeping on. There's a 50 lb difference between my front squat 1rm and my back squat 1rm, so it's unlikely I'll see the one catch the other any time soon. Once I hit my goal, I'll incorporate oly style, because it's pretty bad ass and I won't need specialized equipment for it. No room in the caloric economy to split my training right now, and strength is the priority.

    Glute harm raises are almost a miracle. 1 month after adding them to my workout, my squat went up 15 pounds.
    I normally start with bw and then grab a 15kg plate, do a bunch of sets, and then do another extra 1 or 2 sets with a 20kg plate. At that point I´m tired but warmed up, so I can really "explode" on the concentric.
    Would love to use a bar and add weight instead of being limited to "hugging a plate", but since the machine has got 2 big ass handles, I can´t go full ROM without hitting the bar on the handles and probably getting my ass kicked out of the gym.

    Please do a tutorial on how to glute-hamraise the right way, Brian. Maybe with a progression scheme. I tried doing them, but they are very difficult (I mean impossible, it felt like). I also felt like a fool on the thing and it didn't help that I thought I was doing it all wrong probably. I even used a PVC pipe I held in front of me like a pole to help me get up. The movement feels awkward. I got terrible cramps and some pain in the hip-flexor area. It seemed dangerous trying to do them, so a tutorial would be greatly appreciated.
    Closest you came to a how-to was this video: th-cam.com/video/Oy7Max58bMs/w-d-xo.html (Squat Series Pt. 3: Assistance Exercises...)

    This is EXACTLY the video i needed! i can currently romanian deadlift deadlift 210kgx3. but im almost struggling to get 200kg off the floor. my PR is 230 but im off the wagon due to rehab etc. So after todays squats, i did 60kg good mornings to try it. and even at that weight, 8 reps beat the shit out of my core and posterior chain. so your video def reinforced the notion that i REALLY have to work on it. definatly a weak point. Great tip using the SSB bar set to deadlift height. Much appreciated!

    I use the lat pull down seat to do the Nordic hamstring curls. Begin with a body bar for stability then transition to the bosu ball if you’re weak.

    Brian, your videos are an inspiration and I am a mere 20 pounds from my original Bench Press goal. One i set when i started my quest to get back into shape and lose weight. Thanks for the Infotainment, and I am damn sure going to work GMWTPSTDLH's into my squat days!!!

    Just found your channel through Jujimufu. Awesome content. I started incorporating some of the strongman movements (keg carry, farmers walks, etc...) into ACL reconstruction recovery since I can't squat and deadlift heavy. Good shit.

    Glad to be here. This is crazy. Just watched the grip gauntlet you had with Jujimufu and came over to sub your channel. I heard in that video your birthday was May 26th - thats actually the same birthday as my best friend. Incredibly, I had to take a screenshot because when I subbed your channel you had 102,999 subs! I was exactly your 103,000th subscriber. IRONICALLY HONORED.

    Block/Rack pulls worked wonders for me, don't have them back home in my town now that I'm home for summer holidays, what do? 1, Go to more expensive gym, 2, Bring planks to LA Fitness equivalent gym?

    What are your views on weighted 45 degree gluteham raise for single/double type stuff?
    Or pull up bar deadlifts with weights or rubber bands?
    Good stuff your channel!

    Hey Brian, I always talk about you to my girlfriend since I really enjoy all the videos. It has gotten to the point where if I dont eat well she says something like: "Brian Alsruhe would be dissappointed." or "I bet that Brian Alsruhe would eat a little more dont you think?"
