I followed your programs for several months, and I always thought week 1 of the block was a "deload"

It's interesting (and makes a lot of sense) to think of all the different styles of fatigue reduction weeks (whatever you want to call them) largely as different attempts to manage the trade-off between dropping (both physical and mental) fatigue and losing short-term skill, depending on how much you value accomplishing the first versus avoiding the second. Thanks for the video.

Just thought about deloads vs intro vs pivots yesterday, and I'm not sure where I stand. I will enjoy this :)

Couldn't agree more with these thoughts. I have a lifter that I'm very flexible with programming and end up using all of these

I've tried the normal RTS styled pivot week plenty of times and I've found that because the stimulus is new, you just get sore from the sets of 10 on variations instead. I think the logic is flawed too, the idea of the pivot week is to train things you don't get to normally hit during dev blocks, the problem is you just get sore from the extra ab, back work, 20 minute circuits etc and it hurts you when you actually get to your block.
I think next block I'm going to play with the idea of "combining" the Intro week and a Pivot. So if my Dev Block protocol is 1@8 followed by 5x5@70%, then my Intro week would be 1@6 followed by the 5-3-0 Tempo work. The Tempo work seems beneficial.

I always have a deload every 5 weeks.. simply because every 5 weeks I’m on call m-f at my job, so that helps me a lot 😅
