Oh Yvonne I certainly don’t think you’re “unlucky” with horses you are an incredible guardian to all your animals sometimes things happen that we have zero control over,I know that many of the situations that you’ve been through especially with your accident/coma haven’t been easy I don’t know why you’ve had to experience such trauma and difficulty (I used to question that a lot myself while I was sick a lot especially as a little girl sometimes I still do when I have bad days and flare ups)and while I don’t have the answers as to why for either of us or why Riseys going through what he is I believe that some of us go through certain things because there’s a bigger reason (no negative comments for me saying that please!)You were definitely meant to inspire/touch all of us with your family your strength and sense of humor and to show us what amazing horses Friesian’s are you’ve touched countless people and continue to do so as long as these videos go up. Please don’t be so hard,critical of yourself things will get better if that rainbow isn’t just for you and Risey,a sign of hope and better things to come I don’t know what is,hang in there we’re all behind you.🧡🤍🐎🌟🌈
I think you speak these words from most of us out there! Very eloquent, and also very true. Yvonne does a great job with all her animals, but sometimes shit happens. And all you can do is keep on keeping on.

Amen, The Good Lord has a plan. It is difficult to understand but HE always works for our good. He seems to be using Yvonne to demonstrate healthy, wise and compassionate animal care. Yvonne, your skills and instincts are amazing, we all learn so much.
I love that Dieuwke wants to befriend Risey! Racehorses in US have been known to have a buddy like a dog, or even a goat! They travel with em to help keep em calm.
My father in law used to raise quarter horses, and one year he had a few foals with the same problem as Risey. After quite a few tests etc, it turned out to be a vitamin deficiency in the gestating mares, especially Selenium and Vitamin E. It may be the same for Riley’s mum … nothing you could have done about it. Strangely enough it became very evident at the same age as Risey! I know you will do well by Risey…all the best xx
This makes sense, as I've read that Vitamin E supplementation is essential for horses showing Wobblers Syndrome.
Would it help starting him on a supplement now or is too late?
Yes, saw a video of Canadian couple who rescued abandoned wild mustang foal, that could barely walk with weak legs. They gave selenium and the foal completely recovered. Vitamin E definitely helps with building and strengthening cartilage and lubrication of joints.
That’s a great insight! My father is a retired livestock nutritionist and he’s always telling me stories about weird issues solved by finding the deficiency.

Yvonne, my landlord owns a horse farm where I am currently living in New Jersey, USA. He has worked with horses for over 35 years and is extremely experienced with them. I call him the horse whisperer. He saves horses that would otherwise be put down and will do anything and everything in his power to save them. Case in point, his partner in NY USA was told by their vet to put a particular mare down and my landlord said No and brought her here. His vet came out to see her about a month ago and never said anything about putting her down. The horses here are very fortunate to have someone as caring and knowledgeable and such a good and caring heart like his. I truly believe he has a gift with them. Spoke to him about Risey and he asked if you had done a full body x-ray yet, and also said you might want to consider a spinal tap to try and get to the bottom of this. Even if it is Wobbler, not necessary to put him down.
I think Dieuwke has appointed herself to be Risey's personal trainer. She has a very good sense of what Risey is capable of.

I very much enjoyed watching Dieuwke play with Rising Star. And he's a more suitable playmate currently than Rinse Janko and Pieter would be because they are very large and during rough play could injure each other. Dieuwke can't rough it up more being he's a dog and much smaller than Risy. I'm glad that they are friends.
I can absolutely understand why Yvonne needed time to process Risey's health problems as they revealed themselves to her. It breaks me heart what she is going thru. Our prayers are with you Yvonne & Risey.

I haven’t finished the video, but I need to share a thought I have, regarding “bad luck” with your
horses.
How many hundreds of thousands of people have been united all over the world, with Uniek and Risey’s story- they brought together the HERD, which helped you out in a huge way after your horrible accident.
Uniek and RS have been a shining light in the darkness for so many people, Stal G and Stal H- all the lovely horses and people- there is no bad luck there.
Life is terribly hard and unfair at times and I’m so very sorry for what Risey is going through, but through his story, people are being touched, educated, and united and we all love you Yvonne and stand behind you.
Just some thought. In my faith, God always shines brightest through the dark times and we need to stand strong. 🙏✝️💟

I have to admit I am at a loss for words…. Regarding rising star…. I haves learned a lot about wobblers thru everyone’s suggestions… I just send money for the care of the horses…. I only it helps …. I appreciate these free videos so much and have been an important part of my life for 4 of 5 years
I too will continue to send money to Yvonne through her PayPal for the care of her horses. This year I will dedicate to sending money that way so she can receive every cent of it 👍😊.

Hello Yvonne!!! My sister and neice have had same luck with their horses and felt cursed......BUT I keep telling them it's not just their function they are beings with souls on this planet and they were given to you....their horses love them beyond reason and would die for them....yours would too they love you so much and you are their world!!!!! Look how much calmer Risey is with you after only a week!!! His trust in you is amazing!!! By the way...please don't listen to the people telling you naming out the horses is boring .....it's part of your recovery too and I appreciate it especially at the big stable where there are so many Fresians...it's part of your channel and content and its wonderful!!!! I know you believe in miracles, you are one yourself. The odds were totally against you, but with time you are still here. You may not be 100% of what you were but that doesn’t mean you aren’t living a full and wonder filled life. I love seeing Rising Star at Stal H. He looks so healthy, except for the Wobblers. I still hope that something can be done to help him.
For some reason, every time I look at Risey, I remember him as a foal at Stal G; and, he was sleeping in his & Uniek's stall with his head on Yvonne's lap. If that wasn't love and trust, I don't know what is.
It may be true that when it comes to horses that Yvonne has actually "owned", she has had some really bad luck. But, when you consider how many horses she has cared for over so many years, I suspect that three is a very low number.
All of the horses at Stal H look great! They appear happy and healthy. One look at any of them, and you can see that Yvonne is giving them the best care possible.
If the occasional horse has a health problem, it's certainly not due to a lack of love and care on Yvonne's part. She should not be discouraged just because everything with every horse hasn't turned out perfectly. So goes life.

I'm so sorry you have to worry so much about Risey. I think of you both every day and hope that the time Risey gets now will ultimately ensure that he can live a worthwhile life and that you can enjoy your time with him without too many worries. The fact that he did so well in the transition from Stable G to Stable H says a lot about the bond you have together🧡❤️🧡❤️

Wie es in Deutschland heisst, es steckt der Wurm drin. Es spricht absolut für Yvonne, Risey Zeit zu geben. Das scheint ja auch die Einschätzung der Tierärzte zu sein. Ich denke, das Ziel ist, ihm ein möglichst schmerzfreies Leben zu geben. Er wirkt auf mich sehr entspannt. Wir hoffen das beste für ihn.

In etlichen Fällen ist das Wobbeln welches durch einen zu engen Kanal bedingt ist therapierbar, ja sogar operabel.
Wichtig ist es, eine darauf spezialisierte Klinik zu finden und auch einen entsprechenden Physio/Osteopathen. Und, das Ding wird leider richtig teuer werden.

I’ve also have had adversity with horses, my beautiful Quarter horse lost to Potomac Fever, my Olympic jumper to colic. I’ve never known such sadness 💔. So what do we do? Risey likes his ladies fiesty lol, 8:13 that's four times now Reintje went to nuzzle with Risey and dismissed him due to being protective over her foal.
Edit: Also, Risey's head is starting to mature, it's starting to look more like the head of a KWPN adult with the intrinsic Arabian details day by day and it is utterly gorgeous.
Isn't Reintje in foal again? I thought that happened. Maybe the male hormone activation will help Rising Star feel stronger.

I have thought that Risey at this stage probably felt some relief from not having to deal with the energy and playfulness of his young colt pasture-mates when he senses he can’t properly manage his hind end.

I understand why you feel you’ve been unlucky with horses. Feel free to express those feelings as you wish in your videos. Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. That said, all the other horses seem happy and healthy. Rising Star doesn’t seem to be unhappy. Wobblers aside, he looks good.
Please don’t give up on Risey.
Maybe these "unlucky horses", as you put it, are sent to you because they will get the best, loving care possible. We love Risey. I realize these videos are behind in time line, so we wait knowing he is getting the best care possible.

Yvonne, you’re luck with horses is pretty average to be honest. They’re big & strong animals that are surprisingly fragile at times. Just please be careful when handling & caring for Rising Star since wobblers can suddenly & unexpectedly fall.
Sunscreen for humans will also protect the delicate pink skin on the muzzles of horses with blazes or bald faces. We use it all the time here in Kentucky. We generally use 50 SPF.
I have to say it is hard to hear you say you are unlucky. Certainly you have had trials and hardships. But it seems you have also had a miraculous recovery and been blessed with a life many could only dream of! I am not saying this to be critical, but to offer encouragement to stay with positivity and gratitude- that is where lasting happiness exists. I hope Risey is given the best treatment possible and all the time in the world, especially if he is happy and comfortable. I am sure this loving community is happy to continue to support that mission. Risey symbolizes perseverance, courage, and love, and we are all dedicated to him, as you are. (edited for typo)
Who cares if Risey walks a little funny, as long as he is not in pain, is safe and happy with you, then he can just be a horse on the farm with no job, just to love.
It’s so wonderful to see Saly trotting with Wûnder. Saly is not only powerful in her hindquarters, but she also stretches her front legs beautifully at the trot and also shows that characteristic floating moment🥰 Saly is a beautiful Kroon and such a good Mom. A real juwel in Stal H❤️💎❤️
Yes Yvonne! She almost "points her toes" like a ballerina. I can't remember who in the arena first told me about how sweet Sjirkje was good at using her hindquarters, assisting in that beautiful trot. And I see it here with lovely Saly ❤

I agree with you all, i've seen that saly is more of a soft yet beautifull trot, though their precence is very diferent, she has this motherly like presence, but mess with her and you are history, however Reintje very diferent, i don't know why but even trough screen it can be felt, she is more 'powerfull' in a sence, more rought but fine built, by one hand one was trained, one not, as i said, even their built, Reintje has this sport figure, such can be seen in her foals and their long legs, though Reintje is more tall than saly, it isn't much, at least personally i percieve Saly as smaller in a sence, i think they call it baroque? Not sure but i've seen comparisions and she seems like a mix of classic and baroque, but i'm guessing she was bred for exactly that, breeding, while Reintje is dressage, and she looks a lot like Tjalbert. Both elegant, each in their own way, i don't know why but at first i though saly was older, her behaviour and built just felt like it, don't know but it's hard to describe with words, nowadays Yvonne has some stuning horses

Yes, I feel the same. I love seeing him so much, it is bittersweet. He looks a bit sad and tired sometimes, but also very content at times. At least, that is what I see.

People and animals always break the heart. Always. But, we still try. Instead of saying one is unlucky, consider how fortunate your horses have been to have you. At some point there’s always misfortune. If you really want to cringe, count up all the barn cats who have ummmmmm… Well you know….

You have not been lucky with horses, but the horses are lucky to have YOU! You are a very special person. Maybe God gives you the horses that need you the most? I am praying for Rising Star. I live with a similar condition as a human being due to a spine injury. And Yfke! What a joy she is. I love her curly foal coat. I will never forget her birth. She was so alert right away! And those long long legs! Amazing.
Don't give up on Risey. Please don't leave no stone unturned. How about looking into acupuncture. I don't believe this is the end for Risey. I know some horses have had surgery and it worked for them. Big Red we love you and have faith that you will be healed. ❤❤❤
How beautiful to see Rising star 🌟 🌟 sweetheart boy, Yvonne I remember when our beautiful queen Elizabeth passed and there was a rainbow pass over when she was being transported from Scotland 🏴 to England 🏴, for me that was a wonderful sight, so hold on Yvonne and please don't beat yourself up, you are doing everything way and beyond for the precious boy❤ i will continue to 🙏 so hard everyday. After all he's conquered so far in his life, it hurts my heart that he has to go through Wobbler's. Hearing how you are thinking about probably having to make the hard decision to possibly have to let him go if nothing will help him just brings tears to my eyes. Many hugs to Risey, and just remember that you have been a positive force in his life and gave him a mother when he lost his own. I really enjoyed watching Saly strut her stuff. Her trot is amazing! It looks like Wunder might learn a thing or two, as well. You aren't unlucky with horses, Yvonne. You have some truly wonderful horses.

Dieuwke seems to have an innate sense of how far or fast Risey can go. It's almost like Risey has his own personal trainer.
yes, Dieuke signals the “I want to play. I am ready to pounce” position to him.. So sweet, that she stays close to him , keeping him company.

Healing takes time and love. Risey just needs time. He is happy and he can definitely live well with wobbler. There are so many miracles. It's important to believe in it.
Please do not get discouraged.. Owning and caring for horses is a delicate, time consuming and at times difficult operation. There is another youtuber in England whose home- bred horse has a neck injury to the spinal cord. I dont know if this is a case of "wobbler" but she has been advised that the horse will not be able to be ridden and the neck injury could be a ticking time bomb just out and about with themselves and/or with other horses. Caring for this young horse will never be straight forward and of course it breaks her heart. As long as Risey is happy, able to be a horse, loved as he always has been by you and your family, and of course not in pain, may be the new and revised plan for Risey. I have learned so much from his birth, introduction to Uniek (I watch that video over and over) and the capacity of horses to move forward despite very sad and challenging circumstances. Anyway, tens of thousand subscribers love him and wish you both all the best!

There was an update a couple days ago (this footage is from August) and his condition seems to be more or less stable. He hasn't improved, but he hasn't gotten much worse, either.

Yvonne - I just finished watching an overall quarter horse grand championship competition. The horse that won overall had severe wobbler. They eventually had to resort to the spinal surgery. They said it took quite a while to rehabilitate him, i.e., but about 3-4 yrs ago he was fine. And, now he competes in overall quarter horse shows and now has won grandship. They kept stressing get the 3D acrylic spine surgery and that it took a very long amount of time and patience, but they felt it was worth it. They said the horse he is now made it all worthwhile. But, they stressed that not all horses with the 3D surgery and intense rehab come back to be champions, but they do come back to be good riding horses. There is hope, but Risey made need to get the replacement surgery. 😊 There is hope for Risey to still be a good horse and maybe even what you had pictured for him. ❤ and prayers for you two.
I can only imagine how expensive such surgeries will cost but it's a great story. I too have had bad luck with horses so I can relate.

Yvonne, the beauty and grace of your videos is beyond measure. They add to our daily pleasure and give me a reason to turn on my computer in the morning. You are not unlucky with animals. Things just happen and the more animals you have in your life, the more chance for things to go awry. I believe that Rising Star will get better and perhaps yet become the horse you had hoped he would be. Meanwhile, I for one enjoy all the daily activities of your life and love having them shared with us.

I watch different horse trainers and you have an amazing connection with all the horses you are involved with. Whenever you go into the pastures the horses always responds to your presence. That is a god given gift you have. I learned so much when you where helping Rising Star as a colt.
True. This gift is what compelled me to waych Yvonne. I had never seen anyone mingle with a herd like she did. And watched the interest all the horses had with her. Unspoken of acceptance it was and still is magical. Indeed gifted!

You are doing your best with RISEY. Please do not make yourself to blame. RISEY was given a wonderful chance with Uniek raising him. He would have had this disease with his original owner too. You could not see into his future. His WOBBLER DISEASE IS A GENETIC PROBLEM. ALL WE CAN DO IS HOPE FOR THE BEST OUTCOME.

Yvonne takes very good care of her horses. She is so loving and sweet to them. Sometimes things happen we have no control over. We just do the best we can.

Watching Saly trotting in the arena really shows why she's a Crown mare, smooth. Risey looks so good, but it hurts me because I know the situation. At least he's found a friend in dieuwke.
I would not get too down about being unlucky with some of your horses Yvonne. GOD has blessed you with 2 very handsome boys, and great husband, a great farm, and a miraculous recovery from a horrible accident. Sometimes life just had hurdles and challenges, and you've did a wonderful job with Risey. At this point, it is up to GOD if Risey gets better or if he should pass on. You have given him an incredible life, not much more a horse could ask for.... I also forgot to say you have a huge, caring fan base that is all praying for a good out come with Risey :) Keep your head and spirits up :)

I don't know if you believe in a Creator, but sometimes we get animals that Need our love, and that we need in order to perfect our ability to love more deeply, with joy. No life is a waste. No horse is a waste of our time or our love. If Rising Star can improve, it can only be with your care and love. You are his Blessing.
