I had no idea that Spike's dad had died just this past Wednesday... So sorry for his loss... The fact that his dad wrote music for his NYU films and starred in one of his "joints" puts a smile on my face. Much love for this genius storyteller that is Spike Lee!

I wonder how Spike would feel if you knew that William Friedkin, the director who he very much admires and got an autograph from, thought that the film "A Birth of a Nation" by DW Griffith was an American film classic which told the true stories of how blacks newly freed from slavery ran amuck marauding white citizens' property and raping white women?
