I'm intrigued that you mention "we've been able to look at some scans of the original manuscript of Phantastes." I would love to see those as well. I am a composer and use software that can pretty accurately reproduce the sound of an orchestra. I would try some bits to see what it sounds like. Of particular interest, I recall reading one of the movements was said to depict Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky. Wasn't that the movement Holst was most embarrassed about? I'm just so curious. Please write if you're interested in working together on such a project.
