In theae two videos I'd bet every possible known launch error qas captured, most of them at least twice. I set my YT to 1.25x speed because most of it is too slow, but for rhwse I had to set it at 0.75 to capture all the goodness. I'm sure Helix and Eprop woild agree when I say that this is a mighty fine video series.
Some of those are definitely "cringe worthy"! At altitude, the "single skin" glider is a lot easier to launch in no/low wind conditions. Good video! Thanks! Bill
Damn! I want to get into paramotoring. I always thought Utah would be a beautiful place to fly at. After watching how difficult it is to launch here I might change my mind.
I love seeing these videos, but this one looks tough. it's amazing how challenging the higher altitude is, and how many of us pilots are spoiled by better conditions. I haven't botched a launch in 100 flights, but this would make me nervous.
Im scared. WIth that said its good to videotape it and its a good way for the ones launching (most of them atleast) to watch it and learn. Theres so many different errors if we call it like that. All from to much brake to to little brake to no proper wing-controll to even starting in such a way that they drive over people litterally. So many sit in to early and several trip because of where they look. Even people not standing in the middle making the wing come up scewed. SO MUCH. Of course we are humans and we make mistake but it kind of looks like most are studens on their first flight without proper ground handling training before hand :) If this was the majority of the starts and not just a selection i would personally not attend it. I would be affraid of what would happen in the air :) There are a few really nice starts to of course. Credits to those people!
I honestly don't mean to hate, but some of these launches make me not want to attend this particular fly-in. Scenery is beautiful, someone please tell me it wasn't really this bad to launch at...
Did you fly? That high altitude stuff is no joke. I have had some really rough days at high altitude with no wind. So many broken props in this one! wow!
but still most people there have absolutely terrible glider control and fly too spicy gliders. If only they spend like 10-20 hours with kiting harness and preferably old wing. and I have launched with full tank of gas with decent tail wind many times, my paramotor is fairly heavy too.
@@mj47749lots were running face down. Hands down. Wings couldn’t fly with that much brake and thrust was pointed up. But I knew it was going to be brutal after watching the video from the day before with 15mph winds and the struggles there.
Bad Apple's has a zillion miles of well groomed grass and like 700ft altitude. There may be a few gnats, some heat and the odd tornado, but it's a much easier launch.
Now there’s the carnage we expected! They’ve got some Olympic class sprinters out there for sure! It looks like the wings just don’t wanna fly. Some of them ran 300 yards
I wouldn't say it's poor training, just never having experience launching at altitude before. This LZ is at like 5500ft. Almost all of these failed launches are from not getting the wing up in the high density altitude.
@@Hyperious_in_the_air Most of them are on the power (full power at that) before the wing is even in the air, that's a training (or lack of) issue. They are also running deep in the brakes, Let the wing fly!
Altitude will test your skills. I think we found many pilots who lack good basic skills. Many of these fails were improper inflation technique, a good number were hesitation of throttle application, and there were plenty of poor glider control issues after things were under way. Many of the "successful" launches were on the verge of disaster because they were deep in the brakes.
@@bleeder228 So true. After my last trip out West, I remember telling Ripman here (O.P.) how tired I was of high altitude launches. Tucker Gott's launch, at Jackpot Nevada, to win the Icarus trophy 7 years ago, is still to this day one of the most amazing accomplishments in paramotoring ever accomplished.

I'm holding my breath on most of these launches.

😂
Thanks for the excellent video! I’ve blown so many forward launches it’s nice to see someone else doing it for a change
Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you Ripa to share this great moments of our sport take off and landings ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Tough place to launch
... soft loose sand... no wind but oh my gosh the scenery is amaaaazing! Thank you Ripman!
