Seems both reviewers missed a huge part of the Shadow elf strategy: the whole concept Unsummoning units back to your own hand to summon again, which also removed their damage. This is integral to their style when combining Flash Step.
While that may be true, I think it is in itself an important part of the review. The Shadow Elves are NOT simple or straightforward to play, they are definitely one of the more complicated factions released so far and one that will take newer players longer to "grok". Their review reflects that.
Tom, you need to play Shadow Elves more! They are definitely more complicated than Wayfarers, but they are much more flexible and can play a wider variety of strategies. Shadow Elves are one of the most unique combo factions in the game and it takes several plays to unlock their mysteries! Also, kudos to Roy for seeing how amazing they are!
@@thedicetower Of course! I didn't intend to cast any shade on your likes and dislikes; I merely intended to enlighten any darkness gained from first impressions!
@@holleprofi5435 I think so, I would have to go take a look, but from what I remember, there is no big changes except maybe that it doesn’t have a magic pile in second edition !
What I'm confused about with the Shadow Elves is the events they have that are not "Active" events. Do they still get discarded at the beginning or do they stay up the rest of the game once you've played them? Also on those same event cards they dont have a limit for how many times you can use them? So whats stopping you from just spamming Into Darkness and Shadow Pulse as soon as you get it? I'm confused because some of the other factions have events that say, "can only resolve this once, can resolve this as many times as you want to.. etc" but these events don't say anything about discarding it or amount of uses. And since they're not active and the rules state specifically at the beginning to discard "active" events.. Idk hopefully you can help me out! My girlfriend and I just started playing this game last week and LOVE IT! Thanks for the video!
The sound levels were equalized prior to uploading. There shouldn't be a dramatic difference in volume between the intro music and the rest of the review.
@@turtlevader I absolutely suck at this game... for every win I maybe get 3 losses. But with the Wayfarers im 10-2. So I dont know. Maybe they just fit my style.
I think at this point it's an obligation that any Summoner War reviews are done by Tom and Roy. :)

That is true and much better for the long game! I was using them more to rush aggro in my games 😝

Sure, but I can like what I like, right?

0:20 I love how Tom says “twoest new” instead of saying “newest two” 😂
He's a master of the spoken word, that one :)
I love both these factions
7:45 Didn't Tom like the rats in Dominion? I'd have to check his video on Dark Ages, but I'm sure he liked that concept then.
Meanwhile the UK stores still havnt recieved sand goblins / obsidian dwarfs :(
is it possible to play the second Edition with 2 vs. 2 players?
No it is not, Colby said they didn’t wanted to do this for second edition !
@@Allies1 but i can simply use the Team Rules of the First Edition. Right?

So far played two games by each faction. I like Shadow Elves much more, but also see the potential of Wayfarers.
When can we get a ranking of the factions??
Intro music is pretty loud🦻

summoner wars cant miss babyyyyyy
Where's the review for the newest two factions???
I‘d really like a german version of this game :/ otherwise it’s hard for me to find someone to play it with me
wayfarers seems really overpowered
Not so much. They have one main strategy and if you block them hard with gates and units they can struggle to close out games.
I’m currently 6-5 against wayfarers playing several different factions. I think they are pretty balance. Just super Aggro.
