I've been following this storm since yesterday and have kept you all in my prayers. Everything will get better before you know it. PLEASE help that guy out with no home insurance. I can't imagine what a bind he's in.

I live in a trailer park in Meadville Pa. A tree fell on a trailer two drives away from me. My power went out, but I wouldn't have known this if it were not for my computer shutting down while I slept.
The owners had the limb removed that fell on my trailer earlier. They also had the two trees with limbs overhanging my trailer trimmed.
The tree that fell on the trailer actually fell on two trailer, but the second was saved from complete destruction by the resistance of the first to the felling of the tree. I also swiped a third trailer, and did enough damage that the owners of that trailer are temporarily living in a hotel. The people in that trailer were outside watching the storm, and said if they had been at their normal storm watching vantage point, the tree would have fallen on them.
I'm not sure what the owners will do about this fallen tree.

A derecho is a huge, very wide "wind bag" that covers a larger area. They don't usually uproot trees.

    • @savanahmurray4099

It was both. The whole system was a derecho thats spawned multiple tornadoes

@@faegrrrl Syracuse Labor Day Storm 1998 had a derecho.
Wind speeds of 120 mph. Hundreds of thousands of trees were knocked down.
St Lucy's whole church steeple collapsed. Thordon Park was shredded to pieces.
The whole sides of large concrete buildings were blown away on the SU Hill.
$130 million in estimated damages were amassed. That's for 1998.
Lighting strikes of 20 per minute. Rochester NY, which is about 100 miles from Syracuse,
      viewed the lighting as twilight.
When I went outside in the morning on the North Side, the park which had massive trees,
were all lying down and uprooted.
I watched from the window shudders on the neighbor's house being peeled away from the siding.
The drop ceiling was actually being sucked up and dropping repeatedly above me.
I thought, any minute now, that's it.

@@savanahmurray4099 a derecho has to travel more than 240 miles and winds of 58 mph or more during its duration, not a derecho, but a considerable destructive severe thunderstorm and they even issued a PDS destructive severe thunderstorm warning for lake and geauga counties.

    • @savanahmurray4099
      @savanahmurray4099 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@archnemesis0513 dude the storm moved very fast compared to most storms. Also the storm was longer than the state. I know this because I watched on the radar when it happening and throughout the day before it even happened. The winds got up to hurricane strength almost 90 mph in a few places when it hit land. Also I took meteorology class so I know what a derecho is. Many don’t always exactly have those exact measurements, but are close. And this system has travelled across literally from the Dakotas. And other definitions of a derecho are not always saying its that big anyway. Also the main point here- Theres more than one kind of derecho. In fact, one can be shorter, way shorter. This weather event is called a “progessive derecho” and its happens to be on noaa’s website where I got this from in case you want to look it up. The others are the hybrid and serial derechos.

I was so mad. I had just bought $142 in groceries and was on my way home just as the storm clouds were on the horizon. I had gotten them all put away and the storm hit and the power went out. A few hours later, i got a text from the Illuminating company telling me the power would be out for several days. I had to throw everything i just bought in the garbage.
