I'll probably put it on the second channel (no promises tho lol) but who knows. Have a great day and a great life!
Please go ahead and post that other video as soon as you get the chance because I'm not going to lie I think it'd be very interesting to hear how Disney could have done better especially since a lot of other people are writing this movie off because of how mediocre it was
You know what? Maybe Disney needs a new villain. A real villain, like Scar or Jafar, someone who takes the conflict further than simple misunderstandings or family issues. Edit in 2024:Yes, I watched wish and I know now that Disney needs much more than just a real villain🤦♀️
YES! We need another legit big bad evil who's absolutely ready to throw down their weight to get what they want. Not all have to be like that cause there's plenty villains who are goofy or not evil evil but still an interesting "bad guy"
Honestly I'm sick of all these family movies. I want a freaking adventure, someone to be scared of. They're last few movies are just family trauma I guess
Villains like Scar and Jafar would have them accused of queercoding - which they always did anyway. Villains like Clayton or Frollo would hit too close to home with the higher-ups.
Modern Disney reminds me of a baby bird trying to feed itself for the first time, and not understanding why the food doesn't crawl into its beak on its own
You know what Disney REALLY needs, a new CEO. A company which came from doing animation, has a CEO which HATES animation. They need a new CEO, one with passion for the art of animation, a CEO that sees animation as hard work and not some throwaway or waste of time.
thankfully they a couple months ago but ofc there'll still be these flops bc they were already put in motion before then.... but hopefully, disney will eventually get back on their feet again by then
Disney also needs to make an original villain. NO twist, NO betrayal, NO internal conflict with oneself. An ACTUAL villain like Gaston, Ursula, Cruella, even Chernobog and he never talked (unless you count House of Mouse) Last Disney movie with an actual decent memorable villain was Ernesto Delacruz from Coco....THAT WAS FROM 2017!! I bet no one remembers any villains from any movies that came after Coco, let alone like any of them (I'm looking at you Ercole from Luca...literally had to look up what was his name) (Edit: none of the villains are in order of who I like, its just a list of random villain names, I was just listing off villains, thts it, nothing else. Also, forgot that Coco was Pixar, but thats not the point, the point is that it has been a very long time since we had an actual decent villain from Disney.)
I HATED Ercole, and not even in a "oh dude I admire him as well written villian character!" kind of way like yeah, dude throws his superiority and weight around, and he makes my blood to see him sink so low as to beat up little kids, but he's also so pathetic, and he's eats up a lot of screentime that could had gone somewhere else. I get that's the overall point of his image and character, but eh, the movie could do without him.
@@jessoliveiro8975 Haha! He had the opposite effect on me in that I actually loved him, but it's because I see him as a sad, strange little man instead of a straight-up villain. Alberto's jealousy over Luca's newfound friendship with Giulia had a more antagonistic effect than him, I would argue.
@@4ngiel0ver so then Tamatoa, Kakamoa and Taheki (sorry if i misspelled them all) from Moana were the last villains from 2016, thts still a long time since they had a decent good villain. My point is that Disney hasn't had an actually villain for a long time, that's what I'm trying to state. Too many internal conflict man vs self, not enough external conflict man vs man
I used to resent DreamWorks long ago for dethroning Disney, thinking they were only doing it all out of petty jealousy, but in this case, Disney deserves it.
This. I wish that we'd get more movies where the son wants to follow in the dad's footsteps, but the dad doesn't want the son to because of variables like danger, lack of time, stunting relationships. Stuff like this would be so much cooler. Or maybe even the, "I'm not you, dad!" trope could be at least interesting if something came around where the son realizes that he has to follow as a matter of responsibility, honor, or duty to family/tribe.
@@chiseledcanary9656 Japanese movies and games have a better way of portraying that. Or to reference a more recent game, God of War. Atreus really wanted to be different from Kratos, but he eventually understood along the way why his dad trained him to be better.
I agree! Most of the time it seems like the kid never expresses dislike of the things the dad has him do until some ‘outburst’ that starts the movie. Either that, or they get upset over like, normal discipline that every kid should get. Stuff like “You’re not allowed to go to the party because you did something illegal” is TOTALLY valid parenting, but movies use it as ‘kid is right, parent is wrong.’
@@chiseledcanary9656 Ironically, the relationship between Jaeger and his son was the only part I thought was even remotely interesting despite the fact that yes it is overdone to deeeaaath in the genre. To the movie's credit, I also kinda liked how they didn't fall into that woke trap of making men incompetent morons to make the women seem that much cooler. The mom was a great pilot and good fighter but the dad was also a great inventor and good explorer. Other than that, yeah the movie was painful to watch. I intentionally and willingly fell asleep at the end in the theater because I didn't want to watch any more of it.
The sad part is the world building probably isnt too bad it just the story is centered around the characters which are bad. Like the whole idea of the world being a giant turtle actually opens up a lot more questions which in turn leads to a much more interesting story. Like were the humans there native to the world or are like parasites like fleas or if they came from somewhere else then how did they not know about the giant turtle? Clearly they would've had some kind of sign that something was off. Like its a aquatic turtle does it not ever dive underwater? Or is water too shallow for it to dive and if thats the case than why did it adapt to live in water if 90% of it body isnt submerged. Theres a lot to go on but sadly we'll probably never find out.
Those are such good thoughts :D It'd be so interesting to see like, one of those books disney occasionally makes where the directors go in depth about the world itself. I wonder if there are other turtles or is it just the one, was there more and this is just the last? Did the worlds "primitive" people have folklore about it? But no ig they just didn't want to do anything cool with the movie
@@NoraIconiq I mean it's a mystic turtle with people living in it it's already weird lmao I get what you mean though, just wish there was even just a hint at there being more like in the zoom out of the world there's another set of flippers or something. Maybe some of them have just animals not humans, some don't have creatures at all but very diverse plant life, even some who are more of a biome rather then ecosystem like a wasteland tundra or desolate mountain range At least it's fun to think about the possibilities
@@defectiveaffect yeah its fun to think about and honestly the movie wouldve been a lot better if it was a movie about discovering the world and all of that rather than the terrible character shenanigans. Its like they made it bad on purpose. And shoving the turtle plot twist at the end was all they thought up to. Because it literally doesn't have any affect on the outcome. Its practically alluding to a better story but then they ran out of time and shoved it out anyways. Showing the turtle is something you should put in the middle of the story and not the end. That way you have plenty of time to flush out why no one knew about it to begin with.
Animated films usually don't get talked about in regards to their directors, so I wondered how this movie managed to fumble a pretty decent premise so badly. Then I learned the same directors made Raya and the Last Dragon and it suddenly made sense.
Raya was still well directed, it's message was just fumbled and used the wrong wording (i.e. "perspective" would have made a lot more sense than shoving "trust" down our throats)
This might be my personal opinion, but Raya was HELL to watch (at least for me), all the characters were forgettable, the "antagonist" was a literal woman-child, and Sisu...I wanted her to actually die multiple times throught the movie, I hated that character so much. Strange World was mid, but honestly, I would rather watch a mediocre film than an insufferable one
Strangely it was the opposite for me I hated strange world with a passion and thought raya was mid, to be fair as long as a movie isn’t boring I can still find it ok but i was bored basically the whole way though strange world
Dreamworks is becoming the new big entertainer nowadays. Their writing is better, animation is more experimental, and gives us what we want in a movie, even if its designed for kids. Take the new Puss in Boots for example. There's a lot of moments kids laughed, a lot of moments adults laughed, and the villain is actually scary. Underneath it all there is a lesson, but it isn't forced down our throats.
oh and the fact that they play around with the idea of antagonists, actual villians and sympathetic antagonists/villians. like for instance in their new movie they have jack, death and goldie n the three bears but they all play a different role/purpose. disney just goes with the typical family issues n woke issues nowdays. their old movies were so good cause they had actual depth in their messages unlike their recent movies.
@@mew3183 I agree. The majority of new Disney movies nowadays just push not only the typical family (or puberty issues, whatever the hell they can come up with.. like Turning Ded), but also woke shit down our throats, ESPECIALLY to CHILDREN. And CHILDREN watch those movies not knowing this and getting lost later in life and becoming and having woke ideas and shit later on (A few examples is this movie under review in the video, Lightyear, and several others). It's honestly sad that Disney's movie quality has degraded with time now that they're becoming corporate... I still love the old movies, but whoever is still in control of making these shit movies from Disney and the CEO (whatever) has to go.
@ChaosLord5129 Flopping at the box office means people didn't go to see it because they weren't interested or they didn't know about it. People didn't necessarily know if it was going to be a bad movie before seeing it. You can be a box office flop and be a critical hit like Fight Club, or you could be a box office hit but a critical flop like The DaVinci Code
So no one questions if there are OTHER giant turtles out there with another town stuck on it's back? They just accept that they're the only humans in the world living on top of a creature?
And if it takes place on earth, is this from the far future where the last of humanity lives on a giant turtle? Where did a turtle that size come from?
It’s like that one scene in monsters university Disney: “once you lose, nobody will remember you” Dreamworks: “And if I win, nobody will let you forget it”
I loved that movie as a kid and I still do, it's so rare that you see the message it had in kids' entertainment but it's such an important message about accepting reality but still succeeding despite your limitations.
I'm pretty sure the past 5 Disney/Pixar movies at this point have been about generational trauma, it's like the new equivalent of their weird obsession with twist villains in the early to mid-2010s
@@kirbysuperstaruhh3769 In fact movies with this trope didn't do anything to me speaking of being nostalgic or considering them as memorable. Disney movies after Rapunzel didn't have any impact on me, but that's because in fact that there wasn't a good villain, and the hero didn't make a journey full of obstacles, which the previous ones did. Dreamworks is doing a good work with this. His villains are VERY memorable, have a good story, and look intimidating. Death so far is the BEST Dreamworks "villain", (Not that he really is, he's a force of nature, but still) he did send me shivers everytime I could hear his whistle. THIS is how to make a good villain. I'm tired to of these family issues with Disney in their stories.
@Varies That's fair! I wasn't trying to defend it either, in fact, I am just as tired of it as you are! I'm just pointing out how common of a theme it has been lately and likened it to the early to mid/late-ish-2010s when it seemed like every villain that came out of Disney/Pixar had to be a twist villain, a trend I've noticed. I agree about DreamWorks villains though, I hope I'll be able to watch the last wish soon
Beaniie has a point guys- the typical animal sidekick has like one requirement to exist and it's to be useful to some degree. The dog can't meet the ONE requirement so why does he have to consume perfectly good screentime that could've been used on something relevant?!
Let’s compare and contrast, shall we? The Lion King: child protagonist’s father dies in front of him and he weeps at his corpse’s side Mulan: a horde of no-nonsense warriors without a single speck of comedy destroys an entire village, including a child, and the protagonist has various breakdowns about her qualities and what she can bring to the family Cinderella: main character undergoes domestic abuse in an exaggerated, yet still very realistic and topical manner Moana: main character mourns her grandmother, co-protagonist was abandoned as a kid Strange World: characters always SLIP and RUN and SMACK ON THINGS and SCREAM and act WACKY!
@@austinreed7343 at least HotR had the decency to star animals instead of people, and attempt something darker with Maggie’s backstory and the flood. Not the best, but they tried.
Strange World is bad. Its marketing and box office was an absolute disaster. The movie itself is a hodge podge of generic story tropes, conflicts, and messages. They really try to force the conflict between Searcher and Jaeger and they really want you to think that they're exactly the same, and they're really not. Jaeger abandons his 15 year old after trying to force him to be exactly like him. Searcher lightly implies throughout the movie that he wants Ethan to continue his legacy, but he only becomes kind of forceful towards the very end. This conflict doesn't make sense and it's nothing new at all. There's some interesting ideas, like the giant creature thing, but nothing is done with it. This movie is bad.
Okay well I’m sorry for you that you didn’t like it I just enjoyed it and I thought it was good to me it doesn’t have to be good to you even I thought what was worse is Mars needs moms
The thing that’s forced between harder and searcher is the conflict between them. Hell, searchers whole thing wasn’t even that his father left him, so bringing that up never mattered to anything. The issue was that his father brought searcher on explorations and then the story collect forgets that the only reason searched found the energy in the first place, was because his father took him on an expedition Al thought Ethan’s whole thing wasn’t developed, there were signs that Sarracher was forcing Ethan to be a farmer when that wasn’t something Ethan ever said he wanted to be. Just because he did it differently does mean he wasn’t doing the same thing his father was supposedly doing to him.
@@BabyGirlTiny Honestly, I think it would've been interesting if the adventures themselves weren't the problem by Jaegar's need for them coming at the cost of his relationship with his son. Like in the first part, we see how Jaegar is something of a neglectful father thinking that Searcher is his son so he doesn't need help while we see Searcher struggling to keep up until he finds Pando. He tries to tell his father, but his father isn't listening until Searcher finally screams to get him to hear and tell him about the Pando and how they could farm it and just be a normal family. Jaegar rolls his eyes saying that they're Clades and danger and adventure are in their blood and why to sit on a farm when there's so much to explore. Searcher argues back that Jaegar only started taking him on adventures after his mother died and that he never wanted to go in the first place. Jaegar tries to ask if would he really be content living the rest of his life on a farm, doing the same thing every day and Searcher says yes. He says he's tired of putting his life on the line just so Jaegar can get the glory. Jaegar says fine and says he'll continue on his own then. Searcher calls out to him before getting angry and saying that he hopes he gets lost. He would come to regret these words when Jaegar does go missing beyond the mountains which causes him to cry in secret.
I don’t understand why everyone is saying how it’s “bad”. In my opinion it’s not BAD. Bad is kind of stretching it in my opinion because I’ve seen movies way more bad than this one. It was at least decent to me.
My brain imploded when the family started playing Lone Digger, it was shock and grief and shock and grief and annoyance because it didn’t fit the scene and was put in horribly
Strange World: What kind of story has no bad guys? That's just bad storytelling. Disney: *Has literally had no bad guys in their movies since the mid 2010's.*
I liked it, but I could see why people find it boring. I guess I'm just the type of person that likes every movie I guess. What I really really loved about the movie is the twist about the so called "strange world". I find it interesting and unique. If you finished it btw you know what i mean
I find it kinda funny that more family driven narratives where no one is the true villain were once the big new thing, taking over the classical heroes tale and evil villains, and now they’re the industry standard, with something like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish being praised for its classical heroes tale and evil villain standing out from the crowd
I watched. Got to the plants under the earth and said. Oh, those plants are breathing in and out like lungs. Oh crap.... they didn't. Did they? Oh damn they did.
Everything there looked like different types of body cells. I was thinking about it from the trailer. Good to know it ended up being true cause I never watched this movie anyway and probably never will
DreamWorks is awesome right now. Its not afraid to be creative, which means it's inconsistent but when it hits it hits. For every megamind or Shrek, there's a bossy baby, trolls, and shark tale...
Jake Gyllenhaal’s entire performance as the dad sounds like he’s legitimately embarrassed to be in this movie, it gave off similar vibes to an adult actor appearing in something like Barney, where you can tell they’re just like “Can I please just grab my paycheck and go already? I feel like I’m degrading myself by being here”
Caspian's line when he meets Splat, "It's so cute! I want to merchandise it." which is regards to how Disney usually makes tons of merch for their properties. However, in addition to this movie's Invisible Advertising, there was only a single Splat plush, a few t-shirts, and a water bottle available from the Disney Store. Highly unusual, compared to the entire displays of new merch Disney Store typically puts out for new animated movies. This movie did not even receive Funko Pops, which is especially abnormal for Disney Funko fans.
Yeah and he said something if you want to watch a movie about saving environments he prefers you watching wall-e but don’t watch the Lorax by illumination that is the worse in peoples opinions and this adaptation doesn’t make any sense to the books original source material
Considering Toy Story 5 is now happening it's very clear Disney and Pixar are desperate for another animated hit film after Onward, Lightyear & Strange World flopped and considering two out of those three were original ideas it most likely means they'll be even more hesitant to greenlight original ideas.
@@viridianacortes9642 honestly it wasn't even that bad but yeah, it was super forgettable lol. I watched it like once around the time it came out and now I hardly remember anything about it.
6:44 * Bingo from Bluey * 😔 Anyway, I think this movie mainly suffered from too many characters. We didn't need the mayor lady on the actual journey, the mother felt like she barely contributed to anything, and the crew didn't even need to be there with how little they existed. They should've had it just the family, especially giving the mum more relevance. Like mentioning she doesn't have a family legacy to uphold, or something, to bounce off the dad and grandpa conflict. idk I'm not a writer.
10:55 - 11:00 _"What kind of game has no bad guys?"_ _"That's just poor story telling"_ Jack Horner: _Agreed, so why did you do it anyways?_ Death: *I think someone's head has gotten to big for their shoulders.*
It was an alright movie, I'll give it that. But Disney doesn't need mediocre right now, they need wow movies. And their last wow movie, in my opinion, was _Coco._
Guys don’t worry I’m trying not to be negative with you but I heard that Disney’s next animated feature will be wonderful and unique which it’ll come out on November 2023 called wish which this one is about a wishing star and our main character is name Asha and her animal sidekick is a goat name Valentino and a star is character hoping this movie will be a box office hit and return of the Disney formula of bringing back classical villains like Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and Ursula
Mediocre movies like this is the reason why Disney is losing their magic and it’s the reason why other studios are taking over, Dreamworks made Puss in boots the last wish (which I absolutely love this movie is a masterpiece) but Strange world and the god awful Pinocchio live action is killing Disney’s image … It’s amazing to see other animation studios making great movies and getting the recognition they deserve but at the same time, Disney doesn’t know what to do anymore with their movies … Disney has the potential to hire amazing artists and story tellers to make Amazing movies but instead it feels like the company doesn’t care anymore…
@Choas_Lord_512 I can see where you're coming from but I think the reason they were obsessed with the scooter bike is because they want to explore the land
Looking at the plot and characters in this movie, it feels like the directors or writers were afraid to give any actual tension or drama to this story. Good thing I never wasted a dollar seeing this in cinemas. Sometimes I miss older animated movies.
I think this Movie was Pretty Decent. 6,0/10. But it should be a Lot Better, like: - Be all that 2D Comic Style from the beginning; - Show a little more about Jeager Clade and why he loves to explore so much; - Instead of a boring black screen with "25 Years Later", actually show Seacher returning to Avalonia, revolutionizing everything with the Pando Plant, meeting and marrying Meridian, having Ethan, adopting Legend (The Dog), Ethan and Diazo having chemistry, etc; - The black and white style from the beginning is never used again, so why not makes like "The Wizard of Oz": when they are on the farm, everything is black and white, and when they reach the strange world, the colors appear; - Still talking about the colors, instead of the most part of the strange world being all pink, have a lot of varieted colors. More alive in some places and more dark in Others; - The Creatures of the strange world being more Interesting, creative, with many details, and especially, having *facial expressions.* Okay, not all them, but most of them, *especially Splat,* like make him having eyes and a mouth similar to the Minecraft Slime, and how he is literally a Slime, he should have the ability to change the shape of his body in anything he wants; - Having a Better "Negligent Father" Message; - Jeager and Calisto actually saying sorry for their actions; - Ethan declaring himself for Diazo, instead of they just ending together with no explanation in the end.
The theory is that the relationship was subdued to force Disney corporate's hand. They have a tendency to flat out cancel films with gay characters. So the studio made a character who was gay but the relationship was such a tiny part of the movie that it wouldn't be enough to make Disney bring down the axe.
@@omundodovini3774 I honestly love that about the story. Being gay isn't something special, its just a part of his identity. The important part to the story is he is in a relationship so that Jaeger and Searcher have another means of competing for Ethan's admiration. The fact its a gay relationship doesn't matter in the slightest.
@@jarynn8156 yes, your right!! And cool how anyone critics Ethan for being Gay,, Jeager, Seacher and Meridian accepts this very well when they are talking with Ethan about this.
10:02 I remember I groaned when I saw this at school and my teacher told me to be quiet cuz "nobody asked" but I still can't believe they said this in the movie.
One thing that confused me was how the pando works. They only go to investigate because pando is dying, implying that the creature is actually healing by killing it. But yet it's actually sick? Wouldn't that make pando stronger/more potent?
This film is a textbook example of missed potential. I love the idea of searcher’s life works, pando being a infection that’s killing not just there world, especially the world being a living thing and him having to choose to kill literally his life works to do the right thing.
Disney’s writers seem to have a problem with handling meta-jokes, using them as an excuse for poor writing rather than a way of having fun with and subverting tropes.
I went to see Puss In Boots 2 in theaters, and the Disney trailers were the worst trailers (except Elemental) . From a half assed Little Mermaid remake to a nostalgia baity cinematic remix of an Elton John song for Ant-Man 2.
If I wanted to watch a good sci fi adventure animated movie that’s actually good even it’s a box office bomb but grown a cult following it’ll have to be Treasure Planet
Boy i sure do love electricity! Our whole town works on electricity! Without electricity society as we know it would be in bug trouble! Isn't electricity useful
8:35 I think they just wanted to have a dog in it for the sake of having a dog. 😒 10:55 Sounds like one of the writers trying to throw shade at the critics of modern Disney films. Not a smart idea when the vast majority of the audience is against you. 11:11 Terry Pratchett called from beyond the grave. He wants his idea back.
My favorite part is at the end when they've gotten outside the (spoiler) and it's a giant ocean, they, as explorers, just go "cool looks like we've reached the end of all there is let's go home because there's definitely no chance of other land masses or any other people anywhere" 🤦
Dude Honestly I thought This Dude had Like One Million To Two Million Subscribers but when I saw His Subscribers I Was shocked On How Underrated This Dude Is Keep grinding To the Top!
"Was it self sabotage?" Wouldn't put it past them. They did it with Treasure Planet, except at least Treasure Planet was a solid movie in its own right (even if it is just Treasure Island in space) and just got outright screwed by its terrible, spoilerific marketing. Basically, what happened with Treasure Planet is that Disney intentionally set up the marketing to basically spoil a majority of the movie, in order to make sure that the movie bombed at the box office as justification to say that "people don't want 2D animation anymore". I wouldn't be surprised if they screwed Strange World up to try and engineer circumstances that can be used to justify a claim of "people don't want new and original stories" or something like that.
When I go to a movie theater, I want to see some cool unnatural stuff with a super cool evil villain. Not some sort of familial conflict or personal issues.
8:52 Yeah this part of the movie was very frustrating for me too. When they were locked in the closet, I figured that splat should slip under and open the door. It takes them forever to think of that solution, and when splat FINALLY does do it, he just shows the DOG how to do it instead of actually opening it. It was such a waste of time. 😑
To be fair, WALL E is literally the best animated movie ever made, you could say “We could just be watching WALL E instead” in pretty much any situation. (But yeah, especially this one)
Not necessarily. Even if one movie is better than another that doesn’t mean said movie replaces the other, especially if they’re doing something completely different. You couldn’t really judge a horror movie, for example, by saying you could be watching walle instead.

The "I'm not you, dad!" thing has been done so many times that frankly, I'm sick of it.
And they already perfected this in A Goofy Movie from like 20 years ago
Those are such good thoughts :D
It'd be so interesting to see like, one of those books disney occasionally makes where the directors go in depth about the world itself. I wonder if there are other turtles or is it just the one, was there more and this is just the last? Did the worlds "primitive" people have folklore about it?
But no ig they just didn't want to do anything cool with the movie

I get what you mean though, just wish there was even just a hint at there being more like in the zoom out of the world there's another set of flippers or something.
Maybe some of them have just animals not humans, some don't have creatures at all but very diverse plant life, even some who are more of a biome rather then ecosystem like a wasteland tundra or desolate mountain range
At least it's fun to think about the possibilities
@@defectiveaffect yeah its fun to think about and honestly the movie wouldve been a lot better if it was a movie about discovering the world and all of that rather than the terrible character shenanigans. Its like they made it bad on purpose. And shoving the turtle plot twist at the end was all they thought up to. Because it literally doesn't have any affect on the outcome. Its practically alluding to a better story but then they ran out of time and shoved it out anyways. Showing the turtle is something you should put in the middle of the story and not the end. That way you have plenty of time to flush out why no one knew about it to begin with.
well you see, there is a stack of turtles
Animated films usually don't get talked about in regards to their directors, so I wondered how this movie managed to fumble a pretty decent premise so badly. Then I learned the same directors made Raya and the Last Dragon and it suddenly made sense.
Heck, even Raya and the Last Dragon was more entertaining.
I think I was only able to watch raya with no issues because I’m a dragoholic
Strangely it was the opposite for me I hated strange world with a passion and thought raya was mid, to be fair as long as a movie isn’t boring I can still find it ok but i was bored basically the whole way though strange world
Dreamworks is becoming the new big entertainer nowadays. Their writing is better, animation is more experimental, and gives us what we want in a movie, even if its designed for kids. Take the new Puss in Boots for example. There's a lot of moments kids laughed, a lot of moments adults laughed, and the villain is actually scary. Underneath it all there is a lesson, but it isn't forced down our throats.
yeah it is, puss in boots is existential dread the movie
And the fact they stayed out of politics adds to the fuel for DW’s gas tank.
oh and the fact that they play around with the idea of antagonists, actual villians and sympathetic antagonists/villians. like for instance in their new movie they have jack, death and goldie n the three bears but they all play a different role/purpose. disney just goes with the typical family issues n woke issues nowdays. their old movies were so good cause they had actual depth in their messages unlike their recent movies.
@@mew3183 that and the SURPRISE villains.
@ChaosLord5129no it did badly because of poor marketing. Look a treasure planet, Disney did this before
@ChaosLord5129 Flopping at the box office means people didn't go to see it because they weren't interested or they didn't know about it.
Let’s compare and contrast, shall we?
The Lion King: child protagonist’s father dies in front of him and he weeps at his corpse’s side
Mulan: a horde of no-nonsense warriors without a single speck of comedy destroys an entire village, including a child, and the protagonist has various breakdowns about her qualities and what she can bring to the family
Cinderella: main character undergoes domestic abuse in an exaggerated, yet still very realistic and topical manner
Moana: main character mourns her grandmother, co-protagonist was abandoned as a kid
Strange World: characters always SLIP and RUN and SMACK ON THINGS and SCREAM and act WACKY!
That scene where she finds the child's is literally one of the most chilling things Disney has depicted.
The only other films I can compare it to are the package features and MAYBE Chicken Little/Home on the Range.

Wait... moana had a grandma? That water lady? And maui was abandoned as a baby??? Neither of those details were memorable enough for me....
The accuracy of the opening skit was painfully on point.
@@ultimatealdo1922 I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The thing that’s forced between harder and searcher is the conflict between them. Hell, searchers whole thing wasn’t even that his father left him, so bringing that up never mattered to anything. The issue was that his father brought searcher on explorations and then the story collect forgets that the only reason searched found the energy in the first place, was because his father took him on an expedition
Al thought Ethan’s whole thing wasn’t developed, there were signs that Sarracher was forcing Ethan to be a farmer when that wasn’t something Ethan ever said he wanted to be.

Good thing I never wasted a dollar seeing this in cinemas. Sometimes I miss older animated movies.
I think this Movie was Pretty Decent. 6,0/10. But it should be a Lot Better, like:
- Be all that 2D Comic Style from the beginning;
- Show a little more about Jeager Clade and why he loves to explore so much;
- Instead of a boring black screen with "25 Years Later", actually show Seacher returning to Avalonia, revolutionizing everything with the Pando Plant, meeting and marrying Meridian, having Ethan, adopting Legend (The Dog), Ethan and Diazo having chemistry, etc;
- The black and white style from the beginning is never used again, so why not makes like "The Wizard of Oz": when they are on the farm, everything is black and white, and when they reach the strange world, the colors appear;
- Still talking about the colors, instead of the most part of the strange world being all pink, have a lot of varieted colors. More alive in some places and more dark in Others;
- The Creatures of the strange world being more Interesting, creative, with many details, and especially, having *facial expressions.* Okay, not all them, but most of them, *especially Splat,* like make him having eyes and a mouth similar to the Minecraft Slime, and how he is literally a Slime, he should have the ability to change the shape of his body in anything he wants;
- Having a Better "Negligent Father" Message;
- Jeager and Calisto actually saying sorry for their actions;
- Ethan declaring himself for Diazo, instead of they just ending together with no explanation in the end.
The theory is that the relationship was subdued to force Disney corporate's hand. They have a tendency to flat out cancel films with gay characters. So this movie was a poor man's version of Discworld? Man, I was better off not knowing.
This film is a textbook example of missed potential. I love the idea of searcher’s life works, pando being a infection that’s killing not just there world, especially the world being a living thing and him having to choose to kill literally his life works to do the right thing.
how did they go from somewhere on the shell, to lungs, to a stomach, to a heart, and through a face hole?

Sometimes you just need a villain who isn’t a twist and is just obviously evil from the beginning like Jafar,Scar or Maleficent.
6:38 🎶and bingo was his name-o! B-i-n-g-o!🎶 you sparked a core memory from preschool just then, thank you
My favorite part is at the end when they've gotten outside the (spoiler) and it's a giant ocean, they, as explorers, just go "cool looks like we've reached the end of all there is let's go home because there's definitely no chance of other land masses or any other people anywhere" 🤦
Raya. Turning red. Light year. And strange world proves that Disney has no idea’s.
I always like to rewatch the classics to re-experience Disney in its prime.

*not me crying in a corner becausee Strange World is one of my fav movies and he's shizzing all over it*
WHYYYY
I just found your channel and I love it so much, like--
You make me laugh more then the last 3 movies of Disney and MC combined
"Was it self sabotage?"
Wouldn't put it past them.
The card game at 10:41 tried to be smart and thoughtful, teach about environmentalism... but it really felt like "Rocks fall everyone dies"
Maybe Disney should’ve been like: “Oh yeah we have this movie. And uhh, ok.”
When I go to a movie theater, I want to see some cool unnatural stuff with a super cool evil villain. Not some sort of familial conflict or personal issues.
2:28 my favorite character in the movie is blue guy in the background his character is amazing
Damn a 2. Didn't think he was gonna that hard. That's only like 1 point better than Mulan 2.
I tend to like the villian more than the hero so it's a bit annoying that we don't really get bad guys now
The art style is so round, i think they literally omitted sharp angles or even the concept of it in movie
This is sucks
watching this movie felt like i was paging through a 13 year olds sketchbook of the most mind numbingly generic ocs they could muster.
Club name : Bad Disney movies|Raya and The last dragon: Welcome to the club
To be fair, WALL E is literally the best animated movie ever made, you could say “We could just be watching WALL E instead” in pretty much any situation. (But yeah, especially this one)
Not necessarily. Even if one movie is better than another that doesn’t mean said movie replaces the other, especially if they’re doing something completely different. You couldn’t really judge a horror movie, for example, by saying you could be watching walle instead.
@Callinater I know, it was a joke (but not the part about WALL E being the best)
Never liked it
"One time we got STUCK and it wasn't such a bad THING"! 6:50
