  • This is one of my best food reviews in Czech Republic. From the schnitzel sausages to the honey mustard and the slow cooked tender goulash. This food is off the charts. My best in many ways. Prague in Czech Republic.

I've been to Prague lots. First time 6 months after the wall went down. You had to order your food a week in advance so they could source it. Just outside the village pubs, you ate what they had. All delicious though and Beer was 12p a tankard and a good night out with food cost about £5. Happy days ❤

@@DJsFoodTravels Got back yesterday, didn't end up going here in the end the Mrs had a schedule of recommendations. Tbh I wasnt impressed with any of the food we had apart from the roasted sausage and mustard that I had twice in 2 different places. I have the pork knuckle at a place called Benedicts and whilst it looked the biz it didn't have much flavour. Overall food for me was a 6/10 but the beer was another level. I would say though very fair prices for everything, most I paid for a beer was equivalent of £3 and most we paid for 2x starters and 2x mains in what were highly rated restaurants 1000k which is about £35 so can't really grumble at that. Lovely city though clocked up 60k steps in 2 days. Also accommodation was extremely good value for city centre would highly recommend as a city break but don't take reviews as gospel.

So happy you kept a few Christmas videos back.First thing a call out about the instrumental music on the opening part of this video made me think of the Medieval films like Robin Hood or Tony Curtis in tights. Just me then 😊The amount of natural light that's coming through the windows on to the bar area is stupendous. The cultural items on the window sills is amazing. That jelly mold, pity the poor sod who had to keep that clean whey back when. To nick a line from University Challenge: " was that your starter for 10😂? No wonder that Lionel Bart wrote that line " hot sausage and mustard" in the song food glorious food. Dumplings, but not as we know them. The white ones looked like cotton wool, so light and fluffy. he must have made a mistake, nobody calls sausages schnitzel here in Czech republic, but what us a bitt different is that when we say Řízek whcih is Schnitzel we automaticaly mean Wiener schnitzel wchich is from Vienna as you probably know it too, covered in bread crumb, be careful if you are ordering schnitzel in germany because it isnt automaticaly this one. Schnitzel just means piece of meat. So you may get pork in gravy instead for example. Happened to me.

Darren, I'm continuing our conversation about the Bay Leaf cafe here, in case you don't look at older posts:
Hi Darren, like your new channel, but it's a little sneaky of you not to tell us if your reviews are somewhat old. I expressly visited this caff as the price on the menu you featured was around £6.50 for a full monty fry-up. When I got there, the price had almost doubled from the menu you showed us, to £10.90! . . . so you must have made this vid quite a time ago. I'm not saying you're being dishonest, but the implication is that the review was made very recently, and not years ago, which is obviously the case. Using an old vid is not good in a food review channel as many things could change; not just the price, but the quality of the food, the cooking of it, cleanliness etc. etc. If you're going to use older reviews, you should at least tell us when the review was made, otherwise it is, sort of, acting under false pretences. What's the point of a restaurant/cafe review if it's months or even years old?

When you have finished with your assumptions - this video was filmed a week ago, and I also TELL you in the video it cost me £11. So did I miss something?

Hi again, when you showed us the menu, I paused the vid, and the price clearly said £6.70 for the 'Full Monty'. So, you can see exactly where I got my assumptions from. Why were you looking at a menu that must have been years old?? @DJsFoodAudits

You did not TELL us it was £11. You are mistaken (I won't say lying). Ive just watched the whole thing again and you don't mention the price. So, from all the evidence you DID show us, the price of the Full Monty is £6.70, which is hopelessly out of date. If you want to be a food blogger, you MUST get these things right, otherwise people trot down there, like I did, and see that the price is double what you advertised it as. @DJsFoodAudits

Apologies, I thought I mentioned it........ having said that. If the menu is wrong - I find it hard to accept that is on me.
As I said, this is a recent vlog - not as you say, an old one

Thanks for the apology. I like you and your vlogs, but felt I just had to question this. All luck for the future!@@DJsFoodTravels

Last thing: I'm sorry, but of course getting the wrong menu is 'on you', as you must have seen the price when you looked at it, and then was charged double when you got the bill and failed to mention it to either the guy at the till, or us. And if you didn't notice the cheap price, what are you doing not looking at the price of a dish on a menu. Everyone does that! Anyway, that's it . . said my bit. Take care. .@@DJsFoodTravels

@@brontasaurus Enough now. For the record, I ordered extras (as filmed) which is why I didn't question it. More to the point here - why didn't you question your bill - mine was ok with what I had 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I'm just wondering, why are you calling the sausages schnitzels !

Just relaying what the menu said

I think as the word schnitzel is derived from the German word schnitt to cut,and they had put cuts into the sausages that was why they called them schnitzel,my opinion is it’s a bit of a stretch, but I don’t speak that language.
